Which prospects do the Yankees have in the top 100? Who are their top 10 prospects? Assuming that Kahnle, Robertson and Frazier are dealt to NYY, what should the White Sox expect to receive back?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 12:47 PM) If he stays healthy and develops like he should, he probably gets you at least as much as Q. I think though if he shows dominance in the second half, he is gone in the winter, or a deadline guy next year. His years don't match up with the rebuild very well. He'll be pitching too many meaningless games. Just about the time total domination hopefully starts. Boras gets him $200 million. This is how I view it also. I'd be surprised if his name came up in trade rumors this month, but, it would be an outside the box idea for a team like Milwaukee to jump in and take a shot on a young pitcher who hasn't been great, but has shown clear upside. I just don't see him as being a member of the White Sox when they are trying to make a push so a strong 2nd half could set the White Sox up for trade talks this winter. I do agree that he can bring back a strong offer, but I don't think it would be as good as Quintana unless he is crazy good in the 2nd half. I'd like to think they can get at least 1 top 25 prospect and maybe a borderline top 100 if he can finish the season pitching well and healthy, but I think teams will also concerned for the looming free agency, even a few years out. Still, I am surprised that Rodon's name isn't being talked about more as a future trading piece. This could be Hahn's last big hall beyond the draft picks.

Do the White Sox now have the best farm system in MLB?
spiderman replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They have to have as many top prospects as any other team outside of one or two teams. The question probably is moreso around the quality of depth in the system behind the upper end. Most seem optimistic that the depth is starting to build, but that takes time. -
QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 10:47 AM) Nats have had forever to complete a Robertson trade so I don't think it is going to happen. I think they will get someone cheap. I would make a final call and here is my ask and reasoning. Robertson has increased his value by his performance vs this winter and his money owed is less. One player mentioned before is in AA and struggling and we drafted a 3b in the first round so I am taking him out. We liked Luzardo before and he is pitching now so he stays. So....... Robertson for Luzardo LHP, and either 50 value cf Robertson at AAA if we pay half Robertson's 2018 salary or 45 value cf Perkins 20 yr old who is toolsy but at A ball and is putting together an interesting year for little/less money. I'd prefer the best possible talent back, regardless of position, but another IF would be nice to add to the mix!

What is Carlos Rodon's future with the White Sox? How long is he under contract for - when does he become a free agent? Scott Boras is his agent (to my recollection). If accurate, there is a very good chance that he want to test the free agent market and the Sox will be left holding the bag. If the White Sox are 2 years away (maybe even 3) from realistically competing in the majors, even with all of the young talent they are compiling, is Rodon a potential trading chip they could use now (or in the off-season) to add another 2 top prospects? He hasn't been a dominating pitcher, but the upside is there, and a team would get him under contract, etc. for the next few years. Will his name come up in rumors over the next few weeks or Winter or do you expect the White Sox to use Rodon as a potential top of the rotation starter for the next White Sox team that is competitive?

I always thought Melky, even if he doesn't show as a good/great player, would be a solid addition for a team who can use another bat in the lineup. Good contact hitter, seems to be doing much better after a slow start; he won't bring much back, but he can help somebody, especially as a DH (or LF) who can be replaced for defensive purposes.

The Phillies are probably the only team who is guaranteed to have a worst record than the White Sox. A bunch of teams will be inter-changable as the season moves along (Reds, White Sox, Marlins, Braves, Giants, Padres, Mets, A's, Tigers, possibly another team in the NL Central).. A few of these teams are probably going to end up worse than the White Sox, but they will probably be somewhere in the 4-6 range if things go to plan.

Draft Day Three - discussion thread, Tracker in OP
spiderman replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
What has been the national perspective (from the more respected draft analysts) on the White Sox draft so far? Any columns that have some of that feedback? -
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 03:07 PM) Agreed. The sample Brewers deal would be selling ourselves very short on Quintana. That, and the fact that the Brewers are not going to make such a splashy move and deplete their farm. I'm not writing Quintana off after a very bad 2 months, but he needs an equally strong 2 months to re-emerge as the top pitcher on the market come July else there's no sense in moving him until he has rebounded. Question on Rodon for the larger group. If he comes back to pitch this season (and he is on track too by all reports) and show his top of the rotation type stuff consistently, do the White Sox trade him in the off-season? He's a Boras agent and the clock is ticking. If the White Sox are good in 2-3 years from now, isn't he a free agent after another year or two beyond that? Does it make sense to keep a guy around who has little chance on being here beyond his rookie/arbitration years?

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 21, 2017 -> 12:09 AM) I think that his being a reliever adds value instantly. I mean, even though he's only signed through 2018, relievers tend to get crazy hauls at trade deadlines compared to starters or position players. I think he could get a top-100 guy if the other team eats his salary, or if we pair him with a Swarzak/Kahnle or eat some money, a top-30 guy. I didn't realize that being a reliever would elevate his value. I know Andrew Miller and Chapman brought in high value last year but they were considered elite. Will the White Sox eat any salary to get more back? I'd love a top 30 guy, but is that possible?

I continue to hear this. Is this correct? - Top of the farm system is great - After the top 10 (or so), the system is thin, bottom level talent - Still thin in position prospects, although they may have C, 2B and CF (3 tougher ones) figured out
-
QUOTE (SouthSide2004 @ May 20, 2017 -> 07:25 PM) I've seen most speculation say somewhere in the top 25. I heard on another site that Keith Law wouldn't have him in the Top 100.
-
I'm no expert, but given his contract, and his up/down performance, is Robertson really going to get the White Sox more than salary relief and maybe a mid level prospect? I don't doubt a team like Washington will trade for him, somebody will, but isn't he under contract for $10M this year this year and next season (obviously this season is probably down to $5M or so by the time July comes).....Is the contract not a big deal anymore given other contracts?
-
Is Robert a top 100 prospect? If so, where do you expect him to fall in those rankings?
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 15, 2017 -> 09:42 AM) He never actually said a deal was close with Washington. Hit and Run's twitter feed just put that in the tweet for some reason. I was basing my information from that feed; bad on the Score then if they are saying something he didn't say.

QUOTE (hi8is @ May 15, 2017 -> 12:14 AM) https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/05/east...p;post-id=92256 Yea... it's Levine. So, in a matter of a few days, Levine reports that a lead/head scout from Washington is in Chicago to scout David Robertson, and the presence of this scout indicated that a deal was close. Now, because the Red Sox and Nationals have made trades with the White Sox, these are the two teams that know each other best.... Seems like Levine likes to draw connections like these to report on possible trades.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 8, 2017 -> 09:04 AM) It would be our luck if he pitched like crap in this series. Does this scout only attend games when he's about to sign off/support a trade? Sounds like an odd linkage or grasping at something that may not be there (presently). Robertson will probably be traded over the next 2 months, but it's more likely to be in July still.

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Feb 24, 2017 -> 07:12 PM) TOB isn't that fun, except when the names are announced. After that, it's pretty much uninteresting. Friday Fung though is fun I haven't heard if TOB is coming back, but it had become tired. I can almost guarantee, that if it did come back, half of the slots would be filled by Donald Trump, Republican positions and other politicians on that side of the aisle. That show, in particular, are overly sensitive to "Stick to Sports" and make a point of letting everyone know they hate Trump (Bernstein referred to him a fascist on back to back shows recently) and that race (that's more Goff thing, but Bernstein has evolved) is a factor in pretty much any topic.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
spiderman replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (credezcrew24 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) Robertson's value is at an all-time low. I'd prefer to see the White Sox risk holding him until the deadline. Is Nate Jones part of the future for the White Sox or would closing games enhance his value vs. being a premier setup man? Is there a legitimate difference between the two roles if he's dominant in one? Would moving Robertson enhance the value of Nate Jones? -
QUOTE (Special K @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 09:32 PM) 2017 will, of course, be the year when the Team finally will over perform. Yep, watch them over perform, and still be under .500
-
I declare....2017, as the...Year of the White Sox!
-
As long as the rotation contains Quintana, and an improve Rodon, the White Sox are going to have to a pretty solid front-end of the rotation, and they are likely to add young talent in the majors as the season progresses. Offensively, this team is going to challenged; there just isn't much talent on this roster. This is probably a bottom 10 team currently, and may become bottom 5 if they move Quintana for minor league talent.
-
Even if there is interest in him, hard to believe teams would be willing to give up much more than a middling prospect.
-
QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 08:53 PM) Strong! Where do the White Sox rank overall? Are those team rankings out?
-
How many players on the White Sox are in Law's top 100? Does Callis have a top 100? Anyone concerned that the White Sox still don't have many positional players who are top prospects? I guess 2 in the top 100 isn't horrible, but are there others in the pipeline?
