QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 06:35 PM) It's the same reason Damaso Marte put up a 3.77 ERA in the pen that year despite having a disgusting 1.72 WHIP.Which is almost impossible.

QUOTE(lostfan @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 06:03 PM) I do think all the hand-wringing about Thome batting 3rd vs. CC was completely justified though. Has Thome changed anything against LHP this year? He seems much better vs LHP (including ST). Of the 6 HRs he hit in ST, I know a couple were vs LHP. Now he has two more. Yet going into this season he only hit a HR against LHP every 23 AB's and only 6 all last year vs LHP.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) And around April 7th, they will rather have a guy in the lineup that can run fast over a talented guy like Quentin. We will also start Thome on Monday who is what 0-11 with 7k's life time against CC. Some of these decisions are head scratchers. Now that is funny. What are the odds that Thome goes yard twice against CC? QUOTE(ScottyDo @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) No way to justify it? Let's say tomorrow we have an opening day like last year's where our SP goes 1 1/3 innings and gives up 7...given a bullpen with Wasserman instead of Masset, who do you go with? Do you literally play everyone in the bullpen? Ruin your bullpen for the better part of a week? Yes, based on last year, Wasserman is a better pitcher. Give me one inning and I want him over Masset any time. But he's not capable of long relief. It's just that simple. You wouldn't play Konerko at second base because he's incapable of playing there, so why is everyone arguing that Wasserman be a long guy?

QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 05:43 PM) Do you have quotes of the Garko off the bag? Guess not. I didn't see the Garko bag comment.

It looks like this is not just some White Sox bias. From Passan's blog: http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news;_ylt=Alpn...o&type=lgns

If Buehrle or Dotel pitch better then the ump calls don't matter. They were some of the worst I've seen in a long time, but it should not have been that close in the first place.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:29 PM) Uribe was huge with the bat today. Glad to see he proved worthy to be the starter over Pablo against C.C. That was bad. Also, Ramirez over Anderson in CF was kinda silly too. -

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:27 PM) The big difference between last year's bullpen and this year's bullpen, is this year's bullpen is much more expensive. Otherwise, basically the same. Yeah, Masset and Logan threw 5.1 scoreless with 6 K's and only 2 baserunners. The bullpen is actually pretty solid. Dotel however has shown nothing. If anyone, he needs to be released and Wass brought up. -

Ugh, would've rather seen Fields, Anderson, and Ozuna instead of Crede, Ramirez, and Uribe. They went a combined 2-13 with 7 K's. Also, no Linebrink was stoopid. Masset impressed though, considering the circumstances. -

Linebrink in the 8th would've been nice. Especially in such a close game. Dotel did nothing in ST to deserve to pitch in that situation and he just proved it. -

Can Thome bat for everyone and just have the other player round the bases? I can't believe he has just hit 2 off a LHP and Sabathia no less. -

QUOTE(rackemup @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 03:47 AM) who proceeds to go on a terror That is an interesting way to say it. A bold prediction at this point would be if the Sox made the playoffs. From 72 wins to the playoffs is a pretty big leap in one offseason. Individual honors: Vazquez wins the Cy Young, Ramirez turns into Soriano2, Swisher is AL MVP, and Anderson wins a GG in Center. -
QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 08:26 PM) Yes, they are working on it. Oh, ok, just making sure it was known.

Opening Day wins vs CLE equaled a World Series in '05 and 90 win season in '06. An opening day loss vs CLE was a 72 win season. We need a win. -
Just FYI for Firefox users, I've updated my Firefox Extension to reflect the Opening Day roster. You can grab it here: http://www.pcgamingtech.net/downloads/whitesox.xpi Just select the link and choose "Open" (with FireFox), then click to "Install Now". After install, then select "Restart FireFox". The extension will install next to the Help at the top of the Browser and provides quick links to everything White Sox. Still working on a White Sox theme.

AL East: BOS AL Central: CLE AL West: SEA AL WC: CHW NL East: NYM NL Central: MIL NL West: ARZ NL WC: CHC NYM over CLE in the World Series It is hard not to have the Mets as the favorite after adding Santana.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 09:43 AM) Wrong. The righty/left spilt is about 3:2, not an even 1:1. What? His last 3 full seasons vs RHP: 2004 - 320 ABs 2006 - 299 ABs 2007 - 289 ABs So if he only bats against RHP, he would be limited to about 300 ABs. Where am I wrong? I could've said 302.6666667 but I rounded down.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 08:50 AM) For a team whose manager said winning spring training games was going to be emphasized this spring last September, the White Sox didn't fair too well. The worst spring training record for an AL team, and second worst to the woeful Giants in the Cactus league. Yeah, but Boston, Arizona, Philly, and Arizona all had bad records, yet they are all playoff bound teams. Ozzie was talking out of his .... Playing sports all my life, it is really hard to get motivated for exhibition games.

Uribe plays much better in the cold, he enjoys frozen foods. -
Soxtalk related. Checking out the traffic details from Alexa, Soxtalk has slowly decreased in page views, etc since early 2006. Also, it says 32.8% of viewers are from Poland? Is this site way off? http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_...ils/soxtalk.com
