What's up with DH's this year? Before today's game, not a single DH had an OPS over .725 (Hafner at .723) with only one with a BA over .227(Sweeney .275). http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/battin...nd=a&pos=dh

QUOTE (NUKE @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) I LOLed. Seriously though. It's really awesome to have 2 rookie starters having such an awesome time of things to start the season. If they can keep this up all season we'll be in good shape for a playoff run. Neither of them are rookies anymore. The 2nd half of the season will be telling for Danks. Floyd has just continued where he left off last September.

Danks now with 14.2 consecutive scoreless innings. Sox HR Ratio 25 to 5 Sox BB Ratio 77 to 57

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 01:02 PM) Just to let fellow out of town Sox fans know that it's Yank-Sox on ESPN Wednesday Night and then again on WGN Thursday night. I'll be in front of that TV. Wave at me when you see me. Thanks for the info. I knew about the ESPN game, but not the WGN game.

4/20 Gamethread: Sox (10-7) at Rays (8-10), 12:40 CSN

QUOTE (G&T @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 01:10 PM) I'm not sure, but I think having Dye behind him today helped get him a few more fastballs. It's been pretty easy to pitch junk to Thome lately and get to PK. You're probably right. I wouldn't mind seeing Thome bat 3rd, then Dye followed by Paulie, AJ, Crede, then CQ. -

QUOTE (max power @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 01:06 PM) Toronto came back to beat the tigers, hahaha. 6-13. They will have to go 89-54 the rest of the way to reach 95 wins (.622 pct). -

QUOTE (G&T @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 01:04 PM) Thome with a double to right. 4 hits today. Thome raising his average 50 pts in one game. Now we need Paulie to follow suit. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 12:19 PM) Can anyone find me a better picture of Eli Manning's new bride? From what I can see, it pays to be the Super Bowl winner. -

QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 07:18 PM) I believe it is because Buehrle faced the minimum amount of batters, but did not get the perfect game. IIRC he picked off Sosa from first base. That's right, you win. It was also the 1st no-hitter thrown when Jim Thome hit 2 HR's. -
Also forgot to mention that it was another game without a HR allowed. We lead the AL in HRs hit (24) and in HRs allowed (5). How rare is that? We're also 2nd in walks.

I just realized that it seems like the Sox and Cards perform fairly similar season in and season out. Both had a disappointing 2007 followed by a nice start in 2008. Looking back 10 years, the teams have finished with the same record twice, within 1 win of each other twice, and both teams had a run of 7 seasons with at least a .500 record sandwiched by 70ish win seasons. They also won WS back-to-back.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 08:20 PM) If Boston had to replay yesterday's game, then yes, we would be the 1st to 10 wins. Also, when was the last time we hit back to back home runs in back to back games? Fixed. I don't know about the B2B HRs, but I hope they keep it up.

10 wins! Javy Swish Thome Paulie Uribe 1st in the AL Central to 10 wins! Nice to get a win after yesterday's tough loss.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 08:11 PM) in the AFLAC trivia, what was the reason they gave for Buehrle's no hitter being unique First by someone drafted in the 38th round? Fastest pitched game? -

QUOTE (Cowch @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 05:56 PM) BACK TO BACK .170s!!!!!! Both at .189. -
This is really odd for Longoria. How does he benefit from this? It is not like he is seeing huge uprfont money where it would be worth more now than later. Great deal for the Rays, especially with the option years.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 07:08 AM) They've been oustanding thus far. You aren't going to hold every lead all season long. Yeah, 10-5 looks way better than 9-4, but we're still in first place, and the SP is looking quite solid. 10-5 looks worse than 9-4 to me. You are right though. The bullpen cannot save every game. Floyd pitched another stellar game, and Quentin and Crede are providing some pop from the bottom of the order. We are 9-6 yet we have our 3-4 hitters both batting under .180 and Uribe batting .146.

QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 07:57 PM) Huh? No it wasn't. It was questionable performance by Jenks today. Floyd out after 81 pitches, Thornton in for 1 batter, and Dotel in 2 outs. -

QUOTE (G&T @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 07:17 PM) O's announcers call Sarfate "firm." I don't know what that means He works out. -
"When I was a kid my parents moved a lot, but I always found them" They won't be there for long if they keep playing like this. I believe the media is waiting to see if this pitching staff is legit. Another good outing by Floyd tonight will go a long way towards this. This is also a great motivator. Here is the ESPN Power Rankings from Week 4 2006 (look who is first): http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/powerranking...2006&week=4

Order of rooting: Sox > NL Teams > Cubs > AL Teams > Yanks/Sawks > AL Central Teams > Indians Bears > AFC Teams > Pats > NFC Teams > NFC North Teams > Packers So I would rather have the Cubs win vs an AL team since it helps the Sox. I would rather have the Packers lose every game for the rest of their existence. The only time this changes is the team we are playing becomes the most hated.

4 runs allowed in the last 46 innings, all I can say is wow. Only 4 HRs allowed and 0 Blown Saves.
