QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 11:23 AM) How about when they don't reply and then show up anyway with that 'pfft, c'mon you knew I'd be here' attitutde. I've never experienced this, but seriously if someone did this at an event I was hosting I would let them know how I felt about it.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 11:35 AM) The RSVP thing sucks. happened at my wedding as well, had to track down a few relatives that we knew would be there, but wanted to make sure. Oh isn't that swell. So not only are they ignorant in responding, but YOU had to track them down. Just lovely. Like you didn't have enough on your plate.
-
Oh the list is endless as you can imagine, but I got a new one this weekend while helping a friend organize a seating chart for her wedding. When you are fortunate enough to be included in a celebration.... is it to much to ask to RSVP?? Seriously? If you can't make it... pick up the friggin phone and let the person who went out of their way to address an envelope, put a stamp on it, and mail it to you, know that you can't make it. Never in my life have I not responded to an invitation to anything I was invited to. It's just so incredibly ignorant and rude.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 03:44 AM) I bet DiCrapio is a good guy, he's involved in some good causes and he's a good actor.. in the proper role. As soon as I see him holding a gun or throwing punches though...... Agree completely. I loved "The Departed"... when Leo got shot. Jack wasn't anything special in it either. I thought Damon's accent was the best played to be honest.

QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 4, 2007 -> 10:35 PM) As ghey as this may sound, Jessica Alba is so sexy, cute, and bubbly, that gratuitous nudity could hurt her in my eyes. Back under my rock I go. Agree. She was crazy sexy in "Into the Blue".

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 12:06 PM) Thx man. I told her I would not have changed the way I dressed until they came up with solid, specific details as to how my attire was innapropriate. Then you kind of force their hand to take action and THEN you might have a case against them. She's not the type to rock the boat though, she'll probably just find a new job. I agree with this, and with Soxbadger's follow up comments on the law. It's a slippery slope for sure. And while by definition it might not be "sexual harassment" I would consider it to be close to crossing the "harassment" line. I would strongly advise her NOT to change her dress. Document everything in a journal - especially her personal feelings and how she's being treated in the office. I would even go as far as taking pictures of her work attire. Also encourage her to hang in there. There is no reason at this point to even consider changing jobs. Also, if the boss tries to have another one of these "meetings" with her, she should request a HR rep as soon as the conversation topic becomes clear. I imagine it's hard, but the most important thing is that she retain control over herself and her feelings. Finally, she has nothing to be embarassed about. Reinforce that. It's that line of thinking that idiot bosses count on to control situations like this.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 07:06 AM) Well, it is Halloween... maybe he'll wear one as a costume. And I put that in there because I knew there'd be one of you.....

It would be silly to think the Sox (and the other 29 teams) aren't "interested" in Alex. However realistically and finacially it makes no sense. Unless Alex agrees to a deal grossly less than what his current "market value" is... he will never wear a White Sox uniform as an employee.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 10:59 AM) I call bulls*** on that. Joe Crede is Brooks Robinson. The modern day Brooks Robinson. His defense was crucial in the Sox winning the World Series, as well as his clutch hitting.

QUOTE(rockren @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 08:36 AM) Nope. It's how arrogant KW always is. Dating way back to the Mike Sirotka trade and how he handled that in the media after it happened. The way he handled Frank said NOTHING and KW threw a crying tirade. KW could've said something to the effect that yeah ARod is a great player, but he takes the route and says "Oh it didn't even take me a second to think about it." KW is a good GM and has forgotten more about baseball than I know. However, personality wise...the guy is a piss-ant. Ahhh.. I see where you are coming from now.
-
QUOTE(rockren @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 05:26 AM) It's comments like these that make me hate KW. He's just too candid for his own good sometimes and ends up sounding like an ass-bag. An assbag telling the truth. He's absolutely right. Fans are b****ing and moaning about ticket prices in the $40 range and he knows damn straight the pissy whining that would take place if they had to raise prices to $70 - which is what would have to happen to support a payroll that included ARod.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 28, 2007 -> 08:34 AM) the strange thing is that she doesnt chew, she just licks it. The vet said the problem with it is that underneath the wound is a layer of infection that wont clear unless the dog stops chewing/licking. I guess I have been trying to avoid the anti-biting aids for a while because I havent heard many good things about them. I assume you are referring to the stuff like the sour apple spray and gel. Sour Apple is nassstee! They have some other sprays that taste bad but are less offensive to human in regards to smell. They also have some lotions, iirc.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 28, 2007 -> 08:06 AM) Has anyone here had a problem with a dog chewing on a leg as a nervous habit? My lab has not been able to leave her leg alone to let it heal and there is a ugly raw sore on her back leg. I have taken her to multiple vets who have told me that it is a nervous condition and that we really cannot do anything because she wont leave it alone. At one point it had completely healed up because she was on medecine(a steroid)for an ear infection and a side effect was that the leg healed rather quickly, but about 8 months later she became stressed out about something and started bothering it again and it came right back. Any ideas? Sounds like classic OCD. Ginger had an issue with an area on her rear quarter that she eventually grew out of (took almost 2 years). Putting her on doggie prozac helped for a while but she was not the same dog on it so we just dealt with it until she grew bored with trying to gnaw her own leg off. There are some sprays that will make the area taste icky. Pet MD has a decent selection of "stop biting" aids.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 28, 2007 -> 07:37 AM) yep, the reciever is the box on the tv. If that lady is telling the truth, the analyst asked her if she thought to go in her house and save her reciever, and go out back and dismantle her satellite and save that too. I mean, when your house is going to burn to the ground with nothing to stop it, isnt that what you would grab? Of course...
-
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 27, 2007 -> 09:29 PM) Especially since there are no satellite dishes with a cable company! Incorrect. But by "reciever" aren't they referring to the item that is inside the house?

QUOTE(Soxy @ Oct 26, 2007 -> 06:17 PM) I rotate between Innova EVO and Eagle Pack for large breeds. They are great for my dog--EVO is nice because it has different taste varieties, red and white meat and lamb. My neighbor swears by Innova. If the NB shows no relief over the next 7-10 days I will ween them onto that.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Oct 26, 2007 -> 05:31 PM) I won't. have fun. I did like it and I'm glad that rumor was bs. I'll pm you tomorrow with my thoughts on the ending so I don't ruin it for anyone else that is going to be seeing it.
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Oct 26, 2007 -> 05:19 PM) Let me know what you think about the ending, steff. I didn't really care for it. I'd like to get another opinion, though. Will do. I've heard mixed reaction so I'm looking forward to seeing it. One thing I hope is that the rumors of Gordon's daughter being a part of this one is not correct. Don't tell me though..

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Oct 26, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) I was told by my vet that a diet of potato and rice is very good for dogs with allergies. Here is a link I found with some info on allergies in dogs. http://www.lucythewonderdog.com/food-allergies.htm Thanks for that link. Potato seems to be the popular vote from what I am hearing as well. I think I am going to try the potato and fish mix. It has no corn, wheat, etc so that's good for Abby, and it has a good amount of fishy protein which is good for the allergies.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Oct 26, 2007 -> 04:03 PM) Great success with the Iams green bag but the 12 year old 120 Pound (not fat at all although he is becoming hampered by fat deposits) lab will eat anything. He has always eaten this and has made it two years past the time the vet thought he would based on his natural hugeness. Great dog too, could not ask for anything more. The vet recommended this when we got him 6 years ago. Wasn't Iams involved in an animal testing fiasco several years ago? I've never used their product - not because of that just because I've never had a need to seek out "special food". 120 lbs... yikes!!! I never wanted a "big dog". When we went searching for one we found Ginger who was 10 weeks old and weighed 8lbs. She's 4 now and weighs 70! I totally agree about Lab's being great dogs. She puts up with the 15lb terrier like a champ.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 26, 2007 -> 04:07 PM) I have stuck with Nutro Natural Choice for my dogs for the past 9 years. I worked at a Petco when I was in high school and they made us learn the ins and outs of dog food so we could properly sell it, and Nutro always rated the highest. No corn in the product(which means less waste), fortified with Vitamin E, and it is made from whole chicken. Of course, high school was 11 years ago, so things could have changed with the formula. But my dogs(Chocolate Lab and Basset Hound) are both in great shape and are both entering their senior years(9 and 7 years old). There is a lot of different formulas, I am pretty sure they have a mix for dogs with Allergies. Natural Choice and Natural Balance seem to be rated 1 and 2 (flipping depending on who you talk to). Ironically it was a Petco employee who told me about NB. I like shopping at Pet Smart... but the associates... aint that "pet smart"

Jill is John's ex-wife. If you blinked during 1 you missed that. Glad they revisited that storyline. Going to see it at 8:45.

I'm looking to change the dogs food (the terrier is getting snobish, and the lab mix has developed allergies). I've gotten several referrals to try Natural Balance. I've looked it up on line and it seems like a great line (no grains which is super important for Abby and ironically an allergy formula for Ginger), but I don't know anyone who's used or is using it. Anyone got any opinions on this line or any others that they've had good luck with. TIA.. Steff

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 26, 2007 -> 02:07 PM) The Sox lowballed Rooney, and then looked for someone else. St Louis didn't take him. That's funny considering the Sox wouldn't have been signing his checks. There was nothing sinister or s***ty with the Sox about the way it went down. The job opened, Rooney wanted it - openly for several years - and took it. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 26, 2007 -> 07:23 AM) They had that exact problem during Katrina. Thankfully California's pet rescues and shelters learned from Louisiana's mistakes. It's just too bad that many pet owners in this situation are irresponsible assholes.
