  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 06:43 PM) I was watching the same thing, and was shocked at what they showed during the documentary. They never, ever show that, no matter what the show is. I can guarantee you that he wasn't complaining. Agree. And I didn't see it as complaining but more as shock. HBO has been the only pay channel that hasn't turned to soft porn to sell and keep customers. Guess they are feeling the sting of losing the Soprano's and had to do something drastic. I'm not complaining though. The show has great potential.
  2. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 10:21 PM) Something about that tugjob did not seem right Agree. The fact that she was doing it with a sneaky motive didn't help.
  3. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 08:26 PM) I've also only seen one episode.......and there was no HJ in it. After her visit to the fertility doc she takes care of him to completion, afterwards eyeing his goods wondering if he's the reason they aren't pregnant yet.
  4. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 04:49 PM) On AM1000 Mac, Jurko, Harry and Levineline were saying that JR is saying this is his last management team and that after Ozzie and Kenny he is riding off into the sunset and handing the team off to his son. Can anyone find a JR quote to this effect? Or is it just Levine throwing stuff out there to see what sticks? If JR said something to this effect, this is much more interesting than just the contract extension. Other than the handing him the team part, I would agree with Levine's assesment.
  5. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) Oh, and Tony. I'd love to hear your expertise chime in here... Why is it a good idea to extend the manager of the most underachieving team in baseball history's contract? You deserved to get flamed for that.
  6. QUOTE(Shamrock4Life @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 11:41 AM) steff, you posted he didn't play in the game then a couple posts down you remember he had the game tying double, what gives? He did not play in an interleague game - interleague didn't start until 1997. And while I'd love to have a memory like that, I don't. I had to look up the exhibition game for that detail.
  7. QUOTE(mumbles3k @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 09:09 AM) It seems that the white pinstriped #23 uniform was worn during some sort of celebrity home run derby. I would agree that Robin Ventura, the owner of #23 from 89 to 97, is a celebrity.
  8. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 09:16 AM) If I remember correctly, he ripped a double in that game. Game tieing to boot.
  9. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 07:48 PM) Didn't he play in the Crosstown Classic game that year? Per http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHW/1994.shtml , no. Also per his bio, whitesox.com, and numerous other googled sites, he never wore #23 in a Sox uniform.
  10. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) Go get Webster's and look up opinion and fact, and get back to me. "Agree to disagree" might be a good one to hit as well.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:34 AM) I never said that...I just said there are those people that will love a certain player/coach, etc., and there are those that hate that same player/coach, etc. Never once did I say my opinion is right when compared to someone else's opinion. I would say extreme is the norm. It's hard to be even, especially in baseball I think. IMO, it's the most personal sport to be involved with.
  12. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 10:07 AM) It is pretty simple actually. If you hate Guillen you will find a way to trace all sorts of mishaps back to him. From where I sit he has made mistakes and can improve on certain things but some of the things he's blamed for ... again, I hope those people never spend any time in spring training because they will go insane. White Sox or any of the other teams camps. Absolutely.
  13. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 7, 2007 -> 07:27 AM) At 4:14am? Yea. I figured the youngin's kept this place hoppin' 24/7 like back in the "old" days.
  14. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Sep 6, 2007 -> 11:01 PM) People, people. Don't misinterpret me. Please point out where I ever said this whole season was Ozzie's fault. I never said that. I just said that Ozzie's bad managing was a PART of the problem, and no one can deny bad managing takes a bad toll on a team. Of course they can deny it. If it's their opinion that the managing isn't bad they are going to disagree with you. Agree to disagree. Very simple.
  15. QUOTE(drive like jehu @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 08:24 AM) Thank you for your concern on how I b**** and moan. I can tell you sincerely care about me as a human being. Love, Jehu Actually, I hope that your s*** stirring is stopped so the topic can get back on track, but we can't always get what we want. Have a lovey day. I sincerely hope you get that stick out of your ass before it does any serious damage. Regards, Steff
  16. QUOTE(drive like jehu @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 08:29 AM) I can't remember the exact amount Albert "Fat Ass" Belle got after the strike but I believe it was one of the largest contracts ever (at the time). It WAS the largest, and as unplesant as he was, did his job which is more than can be said for most of those on the team in '97 and '98.
  17. QUOTE(drive like jehu @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 06:48 AM) Really? That's funny because I didn't see MY post as whining either. Very strange. I hope you don't see yourself as one of those great dick-tators of the internets who has the power to discern what is and isn't whining over any and all other posters... I do think your post did help me see our difference of opinion on the park. I think you believe (at the least) the Mauve Monster + renovations = Comiskey. I disagree. You could gold plate that park but it will never rival the Baseball Palace of the World. Please don't misinterpet my view of the renovations. I think the Mauve Monster is better for it. At least they are trying to make it LOOK like Comiskey. I just believe that Comiskey Park was more then just a color scheme. Listen, if you're going to b**** and moan at least b**** and moan in the right direction. Jerry and the ownership group - because in case you were not aware Jerry does NOT "own" the Sox, not even CLOSE to a majority shareholder actually - gave several proposals to the state of Illinois for consideration when the new stadium was proposed. Since it was the State of Illinois who was making the financial decisions and who actually OWNS the park via public bonds, THEY were the ones to make the decision on the structure. Comiskey Park WAS more than a color scheme. However it's gone. In it's place have been 16 years of memories and a World Series title. What you choose to focus on speaks volumes.
  18. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 02:19 PM) I never talked to the veteran guys about him but the younger guys love Razor Shines. Probably because they played for him and took to his aggressive style. It's funny you say that... several of the young guys have said they hated his guts for the way he spoke down to them.
  19. QUOTE(WCSox @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 02:11 PM) Harold has a vile mouth? Wow, never would've gussed that... No. Shines is rumored to have a vile mouth.
  20. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 02:05 PM) Possible its true, but highly unlikely. First, that story just oozes with "I'm trying to look cool". Second, most cops (not all) would love to arrest him in that scenario - some stupid teenager (or 20-something) doing 100+ in a sooped up car. And I really doubt that 3 cops in a row would be so wowed about "OMG ITS HULK HOGAN'S SON!" that they would let him go. Quite the opposite - I'd expect most cops to want that much more to arrest him. I don't believe it a bit. Sadly... Hogan and Bubba the Love Sponge are treated like royalty down there. Bubba has talked about Nick's getting out of tickets several times and even had guys claiming they were the cops that let him go on his show. Truth on this one would not surprise me at all one bit.
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 01:32 PM) Like the Ditka Dome? I too love the idea of Bo Jackson being around the clubhouse all the time. Wouldn't he be a better addition to this team than Harold Baines? Did the loss of Rock Raines hurt this team? How has Razor Shines fit in? I've never been there so I have no idea. Harold is a wonderful guy, but imo brings very little to the table. I think that's obvious. I don't think he's well received. He has a bad rep of a vile mouth. IMO, that's why.
  22. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 01:56 PM) How now brown cow! How now brown cow!!!! The eagle flies to the west with wet feathers...
  23. QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 12:49 PM) Facility? For what? Sports training, iirc.

    QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 12:18 PM) O.K. Here is Fangoria: http://www.fangoria.com/ghastly_review.php Here is Dread Central: http://www.dreadcentral.com/index.php?name...ent&id=1608 Obviously judge for yourself if you wish. But for myself, one who was not very interested in a remake of this film to begin with, I will trust the words of these two places. Especially since Dread Central is a BIG R. Zombie supporter, and it was Michael Gingold to do the Fango review. That does call into question it's suckiness for sure.
