  1. QUOTE(minorsfan @ Oct 8, 2007 -> 08:15 PM) [Edited] I feel obligated to defend him as I have know him and his family for a long time, since his playing days in Indianapolis. I can appreciate your defense. It's a shame you are unable to respond in kind. It is my right to post my opinion of him based on incidents as I have seen and heard them. I'm sure it's hard to hear negative things about someone you have seen in a different light, but I saw what I saw and heard what I heard. And for the record I never said the man drank or was drunk.
  2. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 7, 2007 -> 07:26 AM) Quick observation: Saw sound bytes on the news this morning of fans leaving the park last night. It is just like Who-ville after the Grinch stole Christmas. They are still freakin' happy and saying we got next year. Your ass just got swept out of the playoffs idiots. You lost! Cry or something! I saw a couple who displayed some emotion. Namily an older lady who said "I don't have much more time to wait till next year...". I felt bad for her. Then there was a guy in a red shirt who just kept yelling "I don't care, I don't care, I'm a die hard Cubs fan.. I don't care...." I'm not quite sure what he was trying to say but apparently he didn't care and he is a die hard Cubs fan.
  3. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 6, 2007 -> 01:18 PM) And I'd bet that the wins are tainted in the first place. Sad, but very likely true.
  4. "It's gonna happen... who you crappin.."
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2007 -> 08:07 AM) Ah yes, Fathom in all his glory. Kenny Williams made a mistake, lets all celebrate. Well.. it is a pretty big eff up, no.
  6. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 10:45 PM) My opinion is never law either so we agree on that. I too will call out stuff very directly if I strongly feel something is off base, otherwise I would just as soon leave it alone like lots of stuff in game threads. Anyways I guess we also agree on impressions of one another and it's fine by me and hopefully it's fine by you too. I just have this thread to go on. I don't recall anything memorable previous to tonite. Though I have barely posted/read since you've been a member.
  7. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 10:34 PM) Funny about your last sentence, I have the exact same impression of you. My opinion is never law. That's ignorant and I call it out on a regular basis. If the search function worked you could correct that impression.
  8. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 10:25 PM) The only reason I question things is because I am fortunate to be able to spend time around the team almost every spring. That doesnt make me an authority, but when I see something posted here that in my opinion is a bit, shall we say cockeyed, I will ask questions for clarity's sake. It is not necessarily that I'm doubting anyone, although there are those I do doubt but that's neither here nor there. Among other things, I've been going to spring training for 13 years... if I questioned everyone's opinion which I disagreed with as a result I'd have over 10 million posts. Just because it's cockeyed to you doesn't mean it's not clear to someone else. Though you may not be doing it intentionally, it does seem as if your word is law and anyone else who has a different experience is FOS.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 10:04 PM) It wasn't about being owned. She was not looking at what I was referring to. Please don't even bother. I'm so used to the 2 year old replies they don't even phase me anymore.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 09:58 PM) The Scott Merkin story on whitesox.com has quotes from Ozzie. I was reading the press release. That has way more info.
  11. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 09:58 PM) Well I can guess it, it really doesn't need to be PM'd because if it's bantered about here as fact, the board should know about it anyways. No offense, but there are a lot of folks associated with the Sox - including coaches and players themselves - who have big mouths and run them at any sign of attention. And don't even get me started on folks that work in the office or a friend of friend who's uncle's cousin is a shareholder. Just because someone doesn't disclose who said what doesn't mean their information is any more or less reliable. At the end of the day it's a post on a message board and it's helpful to keep that in mind.
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 09:50 PM) Yes it does. Click on full story. The press release from the Sox does not state that. "10/05/2007 2:49 PM ET White Sox do not renew contract of third base coach Razor Shines; Reassign bullpen coach Art Kusnyer CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox announced that the contract of third base coach Razor Shines will not be renewed for the 2008 season, and bullpen coach Art Kusnyer has been reassigned within the organization. White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen will conduct the search for both replacements. Shines, 50, originally was hired by the White Sox on June 21, 2000. He managed for six seasons in their Minor League system before being hired as the Sox third base coach on Oct. 31, 2006. Kusnyer, 61, has spent the last 11 seasons (1997-2007) as the White Sox bullpen coach and also held the position from 1980-87. The rest of the White Sox coaching staff will return intact in 2008: manager Ozzie Guillen, first base coach Harold Baines and bench coach Joey Cora return for their fifth seasons; pitching coach Don Cooper is back for his sixth full season; hitting coach Greg Walker starts his fifth full season and sixth overall; and bullpen catcher Mark Salas is back for his second season with the Sox. "
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 09:47 PM) I'm reading it differently quote from whitesox.com Whereas Shines, 50, was let go, bullpen coach Art Kusnyer, 61, was reassigned within the organization. Guillen will lead the search for both replacements, having been given control of the staff's hirings and dismissals by general manager Ken Williams. The article does not say that.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) If the article on whitesox.com is accurate, Ozzie has full control over hiring and firing of the coaching staff. To be accruate... the article states Ozzie will search for the replacements. Not that he had anything to do with the firing or reassignment. edit to add... "search" is subjective as well. He may just have been asked to bring choices to the table and Kenny will do the hiring.
  15. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) Yes I agree, Ozzie swears too. Absolutely. Though I've never heard Ozzie call someone [edited]. So Ozzie personally fired Razor?
  16. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) I would like to hear more about this. Being around the spring complex as much as I have the last few years, I have seen and heard the exact opposite. But then again, I am not in the clubhouse. However I would really question ... really question ... if a White Sox organizational employee displayed a racist attitude, knowing how sr. management draws a line on that stuff, it would be a shock if said person was still employed, let alone promoted. But regardless of my feelings, I would like to hear more about those incidents. I was there for a month this past year and heard plenty of examples of his vile mouth with my own ears. [Edited] He's a disgusting man.
  17. 2 former Sox players who were under his direction in the minors and have posted here in the past have expressed, with examples, extreme hatred for him and his racist attitude. As for Raines... Ozzie's comment is interesting seeing as Raines himself said in August '06 he was not returning due to family matters.
  18. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 02:26 PM) Well, I think it's pretty obvious Shines didn't get along with somebody. Everybody. And Raines was not fired.
  19. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 07:38 AM) This is a franchise that boycotted to get stricter steroid testing. This is a franchise with no room for Bonds at DH and God help us all if he's in LF. He's not coming here... ...I'd bet on it. Then maybe you should stay out of the "I wish Barry Bonds played here" threads.
  20. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 06:14 AM) It just bugs the hell out of me to see people talk about us bringing Bonds in as if it's realistic. There's a 1 percent chance of that because of the situation the team is in -- we have a DH. And then for someone to pretend that there might not be clubhouse problems, or who cares? If Konerko couldn't get along with Frank, I have some doubts he could get along with Bonds. As I'm sure it bugs the hell out of others the way you seem so sure it's not realistic. For the second time, Frank wasn't the problem. And if you think that a personality clash would stop the Sox from obtaining Bonds IF it's concluded he could help the team... it is my opinion that you are wrong. As I said earlier, it's business. Who Paul gets along with is insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
  21. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 4, 2007 -> 06:27 PM) Come on Steff...Bonds isn't coming here for a variety of reasons, and that's about the end of it. And about Konerko -- I agree, but we've had this discussion before. Even if Kenny himself told me Bonds wasn't coming here, I wouldn't bet on it. Regardless, that wasn't really what my reply was about. I know your stance on Konerko which is why I was surprised to see you use him in such a comparison. Especially against Frank. An argument, by the way, that Paul admitted he was wrong about and apologized many times for.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2007 -> 05:22 PM) I never really had the urge to punch triplets before their commercials... It's really, REALLY hard not to think triplets are cute. Those girls are like nails on a chalkboard.
  23. QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 4, 2007 -> 01:34 PM) Someone will sign him? Did you hear the tapes today of him threatening to kill that woman? He was a steroid freak and now he'll pay for it. What team would want to deal with what is coming for Barry? The woman said he was with that steroid guy who is now in jail all the time. They'd lock the door and Bonds would take the steroids. He's done. No team is that stupid to want that headache for an old guy who can't move. If the Sox sign him, all Sox fans should be finished with the team forever. Luckily they are not dumb enough to sign him. Those things have been known for the past 5+ years and have had zero effect. I don't suspect things to change anytime soon.
  24. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 04:26 PM) Bonds would, literally, divide the clubhouse with his "gimme my own section in the locker room" demands. But really -- what's your problem? You quote things out of context and then you confuse talk[ing] baseball with talking baseball fields. I know you're mortally offended because I've declared Bonds a clubhouse cancer but you should really get over it, and I'm getting tired of having to argue against your mischaracterizations and misrepresentations. But I deserve it, you know? For saying such outrageous things as "Ozzie wouldn't like the things Bonds brings," which is what Ozzie has said. s***, Paul Konerko couldn't even get along with Frank Thomas, and he's a very similar personality to Bonds but without the inflation that steroids bring. I guess I'm more troubled by your arrogant, dishonest style which I'm sure you don't have in real life. "-- so easy..." Give me a break and a full thought sometime and then we'll talk. But hey, like I said...sorry I've offended your Bonds sensibilities. Bonds and Baker didn't get along because Baker has a vagina rather than a penis and had no clue how to stand up to Barry. Stone Bonds for taking advantage, but he did what anyone else in his position would have done. That would not happen here since Ozzie does seem to have a penis and wouldn't take his s***. As for Paul getting along with Frank... no offense but IN MY OPINION from seeing things with my own eyes and hearing things with my own ears Paul is a mf'er and doesn't get along with anyone who he feels threatened by. Paul was the #2 man until Frank left. As for Fank and Barry having a similar type of personality... in nearly 15 years I have never seen Frank act anything like Bonds does (in public) or how Bonds is stated to act in private (rumored from the press and from 2 former teammates). As for what Ozzie would or wouldn't like... I'm sure he likes to think he has control over what free agents come here, but the reality is that he doesn't. If Bonds coming here is an option after all the pros and cons are weighed he'll change his tune so fast he'll get whiplash. It's business.
  25. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Oct 4, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) Is this the dealership that has the commercials with Doggy Idol and stuff? Yes. And the hideous looking sisters.
