Cotts as a starter or permanent reliever?
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) It's a pretty big difference though. Brandon actually has three pitches and has proven he can at least be a solid starter in this league. Neal on the other hand, has a good fastball and a meh slider and has just dominated in the bullpen. Bmac is going to be in the rotation come next year, Cotts on the other hand is going to be in the pen until he moves on to another team(which hopefully doesn't happen for a long, long time). Plus, Cotts is a lefty, and a solid lefty in the pen is more valuable than a solid righty simply because there are less good lefties than righties.

Anderson's swing
This is what happens. The year goes on, he gets more comfertable, and his swing starts to improve. As long as he's getting good cuts and playing amazing defense, I don't really care what his average is.

Manny skipping All-Star game?
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) And the funny Keith Law has an ESPN chat going on right now. Josh:( DeKalb,Il): I think that Joe Crede was an All-Star snub. Do you agree? Keith Law: (1:11 PM ET ) No, although Ozzie Guillen has made it clear that he's going to put Crede on the team, even if he has to lock A-Rod in a stall in the clubhouse bathroom to do it. I think it's time to stop letting the managers pick the extra players. This is the All-Star Game, not the White Sox vs. the NL. Todd (Boston): Keith, where's the outrage over naming Mark Buerhle to the All-Star team? Schilling, Mussina, and Liriano are all doing way better this year, and have more appeal anyway. Keith Law: (1:14 PM ET ) I think because Buerhle has some track record, people aren't as up in arms over him making the team despite the fact that he's not having an All-Star year. But yes, all three guys you named would have been better choices. I'm surprised Schilling didn't make it, since he's having a great year, has been there before, and is a well-known name. I cant wait until Neyers chat later today Ryan (Minneapolis): Keith, how about some playoff predictions? SportsNation Keith Law: (1:51 PM ET ) Sure, but don't take them too seriously. Boston, Detroit, Chicago, and Oakland in the AL. Mets, Reds, Dodgers, and Astros in the NL. Chicago and the Mets in the World Series, Chicago wins in 6.

Manny skipping All-Star game?
QUOTE(Contreras @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 11:43 AM) Ozzie chose TWO players; Buehrle and Jenks. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...r2006&fext=.jsp I also read somewhere on Monday that if an infielder went down, Crede gets to go...But that Magglio was the OF replacement. Can't find that article now, though. Ozzie chose 3 players. I'd take Scott Reifert's word over MLB.com's http://whitesoxpride.mlblogs.com/inside_th...y_and_the_.html

Uribe
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) Hm, those actually do seem pretty simple. They seem to be a very good measure of very specific aspects of the game. I was actually wondering this the other day, so maybe you'd be able to find out. Which player sees the most pitches per AB in the ML? Bobby Abreu, with Kevin Youkilis second. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/battin...&hand=a&pos=all

Manny skipping All-Star game?
QUOTE(joeynach @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 11:20 AM) Isn't Alex Rios on the DL too with that leg infection. That makes two open spots if this is the case. No Manny and no Rios would mean two new players, I think at least one has to be an outfielder so that our team has enough. He was replaced by Gary Matthews Jr.

Manny skipping All-Star game?
It goes in line with what Ozzie said (although contradicts what he said about Crede) http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../607040385/1004

Vote for the 1917 Sox
QUOTE(RX Bandits @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 03:19 AM) Did anyone see the '07 cubs and think that ESPN thought the 2007 cubs would be good or something for half a second like i did? Yep, then I realized it meant 1907 At least it doesn't have the '04 Red Sox on there. If they were there, but the '05 Sox weren't.. well.. something would be wrong.

Respect
I respect every team that isn't the Yankees. If this poll is meant to ask when I realized that they were 'for real', it was probably in the middle of May.

AJ PUNCHED TO PITTSBURGH!
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 09:09 AM) I am glad AJ is down right now by a little, it gives us more of a reason to vote. IIRC, Pods was not winning when the first results were let out. Keep Punching AJ. I don't think he was winning until the end, although I could be wrong.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 4, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) Crosby ran over Vance Wilson, not Pudge. Thats what I get for not really paying attention to the game QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 4, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) Would of been better if it was Ivan. I hate him for stealing Fisk's nickname.

2 out in the 9th, runner on second for Detroit. Magglio is up. Hold 'em Street! He gawn! Street K's him QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 4, 2006 -> 01:47 AM) Hey Tiger fans, I'm curious, are there any good Tiger sites on the web? If not, would you guys be interested if we could put together some sort of site for you all (not that you aren't welcome here, cause you are, but a place that you guys could call home). You tell me cause a lot of you seem like damn good posters who follow your team and other teams. We could probably put something together. http://www.marlinbaseball.com/forums/index...ter&f=2&t=35831 A link to major fan sites (just got updated yesterday with a bunch more).

Cotts as a starter or permanent reliever?
With the starting pitching we have in the minors and pros, and the success that Neal has had out of the pen, I find it hard to see him going back to starting.

AJ PUNCHED TO PITTSBURGH!
QUOTE(R.J. @ Jul 4, 2006 -> 10:02 AM) Unlike last year, Chicago is the biggest market on that AL ballot. We can outvote Twins and Oriole fans like it's nothing. You need to take into account how much people hate AJ. He won't be getting any votes outside of Sox fans, so its not nearly as easy as you seem to think.
-
Update On Jones
We don't need Jones, and his contract will just hurt the team. His offense is just excessive in terms of what this team needs, and is his defense really that much better than BA's to make a noticable difference?

AJ PUNCHED TO PITTSBURGH!
Maybe we should petition some Angels and Cubs fans to vote for AJ, we all know how much they love him.
