QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 12:28 AM) Eh Texas is more of a secondary team anyway. But when you consider stakes, incredible plays, quality of play...I don't see PSU/FSU comparing. I was saying that personally, I'll take PSU/FSU over it anyday. I'll take defensive games over offensive games anyday of the week. I think PSU/FSU was a better game, but hey, you don't have to agree. Thats fine by me. I think this years Rose Bowl got blown out of proportion because it was the championship game and USC was going for its third straight. In my opinion, there were better games this year, including the PSU/Michigan and PSU/OSU games (I mention PSU games in particular because I watched them more), or the OSU/Michigan game. Hell, I think that UT/OSU was a better game. But again, just me.

The PSU/FSU game was better. This game doesn't rank for me.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) It's crazy to imagine that a team who won 99 games last season and has improved in the offseason will win 95 games next year?? Yup, sounds pretty f***in crazy to me. Well, the team got very lucky last year, and its unlikely that they will be as lucky next year.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) Luis Vizcaino - Batting practice pitcher that ate some innings Thats not exactly fair. Vizcaino gets no respect on these boards, and I understand, I maen, I watched him pitch, but he was a lot better than you guys think. He had control issues, with a 1.47 WHIP last year, but he did a good job keeping runners from scoring with his 3.73 ERA. He ate innings, and did well out of the pen by keeping the ball in the park (only 8 homeruns).
-
Lance Broadway or Brandon McCarthy? Wow, they are asking for way too much..
-
I'm going with 95-99, more specifically 97 wins. I don't think our team will be as good as we were last year.
-
If the game were in Chicago during the winter, the Bears win it. Other than that however, I'd give the edge to Indy.

Your guy is Scott Podsednik. Take a number and get in line, ladies, because this base-stealing adonis is hotter than an egg frying in hell. Take this quiz!

This sounds good

Sounds redundant to me.

QUOTE(mc20 @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 12:12 AM) ot would be nice if we got rid of widger and sign olivo as a backup If we didn't have Widger, maybe. But you can't replace Widger..

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) Tejada, as good as he is, is not as cool to watch play as Uribe. I'll agree with that. Granted, I haven't seen each all that much in person (I saw 2 Sox games last year, one was against the Orioles), but from those games, Uribe is just amazing to watch in person. Tejada, well, not as much. On TV (or computer with MLB.tv), I love watching Uribe field and bat (when he's hot at least ), and again, haven't really seen Tejada that much.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) and yet we didnt get 1 gg. Surprising a team that stressed defense and won by good defense couldnt even get 1. I'd take a ring over a gold glove anyday.

I hate OSU, but I hate ND more. It was a great game to watch. -

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 08:44 PM) Can OSU at least wait til the game is over to pass out the hats and T-Shirts? f***ers. If ND were doing it, you likely wouldn't complain.. -

The Irish crappy defense exposed for what it is. This is no surprise. -
Another thread like this? Sigh. Most people don't want Tejada because he is quite expensive, not as good defensively as Uribe, gave up on his team last year in the second half, and is involved in the steroid scandal thanks to Palmiero (whether its true or not is a different question). Also, what sort of player complains about wanting out of a team after signing a long-term contract with them?

QUOTE(TLAK @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) Over/Under on how long before Chris Young takes over? A month and a half, and I think thats being nice to Byrnes.

I know it might be a little early for this.

I don't think Vernon Davis is going to make it to the Bears, but I definitely see them taking Marcedes Lewis. -
QUOTE(JoshPR @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) I know his number is retired but he souldn't even put on the Uniform, less step where Clemente Steped as his home Field. If sammy would sign with the Bucs that would be the first thing he would say and that would make me :puke Well, Clemente never stepped in PNC Park, so thats not anything to worry about too

Byrnes is a horrible defensive LF.. it'll be scary seeing him in CF, especially for that money.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) And let me guess you're making your defensive judgements on range factor? Defensive statistics do just about no justice in showing how good a player is defensively. You have to watch that player play or you'll have no idea. Not range factor alone, no. Other stats, such as FRAR (fielding runs above replacement) or FRAA (fielding runs above average), along with range factor and zone rating and some others which I can't remember at the moment since I don't look at them every day indicate that he's far from being above average. Only in recent years has he been better, but in past years, he was one of the worst, if not the worst, in the league.
