  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 07:41 PM) Bartlett (former Piranha instincts kicking in) with perfect positioning against Getz, who was 6 for 15 against TB as the leadoff hitter earlier in the year. Or AJ was running on the pitch and he was going over to cover 2B. Either one.
  2. I know Kalapse and Kyle were there, as were a couple of others. Lets get a good one going tonight. I'll be around for sure.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 07:16 AM) I don't know how anybody can hate the Twins. I can't stand the s***heads when both teams are in contention, but they play fantastic baseball, build their team from within, and have remained competitive more than any other team with a similar payroll than any other team in baseball. Most of the Twins fans I know are either idiots when it comes to baseball or talk way too much s*** than is warranted (and all I do is bring up World Series wins within the past 5, 10, and 15 years, playoff series wins this decade, divisional titles within the past 4 seasons, and game 163...they usually spout off something ridiculous, and I laugh them off), but the Twins themselves run one of the most respected organizations in all of baseball right now. I fully, fully respect Terry Ryan. The man was a hell of a GM and ran a fantastic team and definitely knew exactly what he was doing. Bill Smith, on the other hand, is a complete moron and deserves no respect at all. I also dispute that they play "fantastic baseball." It's a team built around taking advantage of their home field (outside of Mauer, Morneau, Kubel), and nothing pisses me off more than to see them dink their way on base. I don't respect it at all and it just pisses me off. Also: The ownership group is a penny pinching bunch of morons who have turned their team into a small market despite not playing in one and refuse to spend money to improve the team. I don't respect that.
  4. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 05:54 PM) He says it like someone from NJ who lives in Minnesota. I say it like someone who's talking about the teams, not the fans. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 05:41 PM) You say that like you're surprised. Not surprised at all.
  5. It's embarrassing that more people hate the Cubs than any of our division rivals.
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 09:44 AM) Serenity, Cloverfield, HP:3. I like to get my nerd on often. Serenity is an awesome movie. The other two? Not so much
  7. I'm actually around for a change, so yeah, let's get it going.
  8. High Fidelity Trainspotting Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas I think this is the first time any of these movies have been mentioned in this thread, but I've watched all 3 of these a ton. Zoolander too, but it's been awhile since I've watched it.
  9. 3. Beckham walkoff against the Cubs - I don't hate on the Cubs as much as most of the posters here, but that is definitely one of the better moments of the season. 2. Paulie's 3-HR game 1. The Sunday Brewers game that featured Buehrle's HR, Clayton Richard as a pinch runner and AJP's single to win it. The fact that I was there made it even better
  10. We had something about this at today's Saints game. Gotta love promotions that work as well as that one did (even if it might have worked in a non-conventional way).
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 06:58 PM) Luckily I was right about Gavin Floyd and I still think Floyd is going to be the ace of the Sox staff. He's so f***ing good and I love his ability to go deep into games. Sorry, but what? I agree that Floyd is an above average pitcher, but you do realize his ERA is nearly 4.5 this year... right? And yes, I know he had a nice stretch where his ERA was below 1.5 and he was dominating, but to be "so f***ing good" you need to be "so f***ing good" for the entire season, not short stretches. I like Gavin as a middle of the rotation guy, but he's as overrated as they come on these boards. I realize this isn't the time or thread for this sort of thing, but it had to be said.
  12. It's a shame I have to work during all 3 of these games, but oh well. Let's kick the s*** out of these twinkies.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 11:10 AM) I too hate when people say "wait for it" I want a talking heads song. I like them. I suppose this endeavor.
  14. I wish they'd get rid of interleague play.
  15. Not just idling anymore! If the java client doesn't work, use a real client! QUOTE (Felix @ May 30, 2009 -> 08:00 PM) Works just fine for me. If the java client isn't working (today or in the future), I'd suggest grabbing a free IRC client such as xChat or mIRC. They all basically do the same, so if you have a different one that you prefer it shouldn't make too much of a difference. If you're using xChat, load it up and add irc.wyldryde.org to your server list and #Soxtalk.com in your favorite channels list. Set your Soxtalk nickname as your first nick choice, and then you should be ready to chat.
  16. QUOTE (sox1844 @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 06:36 PM) I feel kinda bad for the guy, but at the same time he has to realize where he's playing and that we are the kind of fans that love you when you're hot and hate you when you're cold... usually just best to keep your mouth shut. At this point I'm just wondering what real effect our media issues and org issues are having on us signing good players. I don't love Wise when he's hot, because when he's hot he's an average MLB player. That's it.
  17. The chicken was on the big screen during the chicken dance on Sunday as well
  18. DeWayne Wise is awful, and this weekend did nothing to convince me otherwise. I booed him every single time he came to the plate (and every time he got out right after coming to the plate), and will continue to do so until he is released. There is absolutely no reasoning for him to be on the major league roster anymore.
  19. That was a great weekend. Fantastic ballpark and the Sox were represented very well. It was basically 50/50 where I was sitting at today's game, which made for a great time.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) The moral of the story is to boo Dewayne Wise. Done.
  21. Considering the problems the White Sox have had with keeping a regular CF in recent years, do you see yourself staying in center as a professional? What are your biggest flaws defensively and what are you doing to fix them?
  22. People actually expected something from Marquez? Did they not see his numbers prior to this season? It could just be me, but I never expected him to do anything on the team, which is part of why I've felt that Swisher deal was so awful from the very start.
  23. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 04:01 PM) Since I'm relatively new here (didn't start posting until the offseason before this one), having you pop up is like having a great poster appear out of nowhere. He's on chat fairly often
  24. I'll be at both the Saturday and Sunday games. Lots of tailgating for the Saturday game with a bunch of buddies that are Brewer fans, and then the game on Sunday with my Dad.
  25. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 03:48 AM) If KW offered any of you scrubs half a million to go play 3rd base right now even though you guys suck to high heavens, how many of you would turn it down? Not many if any at all I bet...Wise is not very talented,we get that, but I don't boo White Sox players when they are trying their best,it's the organization's fault for not putting quality players out there. If KW offered me money to play, you'd bet your ass I'd take it. However, I also wouldn't defend my performance when I went 6/40 to start the season with a .340 OPS. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 03:48 AM) BA is a dud, only thing he's got going for him is his glove because he looks lost at the plate. And Wise looks like he knows what he's doing at the plate?
