  1. I think the "attempted suicide" is really him thinking he can be deemed unbalanced and stay out of prison after his plot to disappear went awry. If someone actually wants to kill themselves, there are ways of doing that which would have been far easier than all this nonsense. Not opening the parachute when he jumped from the plane would have been a possibility.
  2. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 12:03 PM) does anyone here know alot about the Act and the Law? My question, as a business owner, do I have the ability to contact say a School District in Florida and request information pertaining to a particular contract they entered into with a competitor of mine, or do I need to actually live in the boundaries of this School District? No you do not need to live there. Go to the website for the municipality, possibly even the state, and download the FOIL request form. By law they will have to respond in a specified number of days. If this isn't working, call the municipality or school district and ask where the form can be found. Forms can usually be faxed. I do this all the time in NY.
  3. You can tell it's false when the only reports about the rumor are linked to Soxtalk. But on the plus side, Mets Fever picked up this thread.
  4. QUOTE (chunk23 @ Dec 30, 2008 -> 01:08 PM) Wasn't Thomas's injury his tricep that time? No it was the bone spur the size of a golf ball.
  5. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 29, 2008 -> 05:18 PM) They just built one in Jersey City also. The thing is, do I bother trying one of them, or stick to my usual Burger Fix at Five Guys, Shake Shack and the Burgers from the Parker Meridian. I don't think it's all that different than 5 guys. FatBurger is also expensive.
  6. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Dec 29, 2008 -> 12:55 PM) I am hungover, any lunch suggestions? I just had my first Fatburger. Seems like good hangover food.
  7. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 26, 2008 -> 05:03 AM) Jesus, the amount of black ice around the south suburbs is the worst I've ever experienced. Here in Palos, literally, my whole entire subdivision is black ice. I stepped out of my buddies car fifteen minutes ago and immediately slipped on my back. And then when I thought about jumping in the snow to avoid the driveway I slipped on the sheet of ice covering that too. The morning commute is going to be horrendous if these conditions hold up. I was on my way back from Gurnee this morning to Palos Park. My dad calls and tells me I can't come home because 5 cars are stuck on the road and it's impassible. I had to wait it out at my sister-in-law's house in Lisle where the entire subdivision was a sheet of ice and I had to "skate" up their driveway.
  8. QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 01:49 PM) IIRC, that's what happened with the A-Rod situation. They were having difficulty negotiating with Boras, so they asked to deal with A-Rod directly. As for Figgins, I think he can play 3B, 2B, OF (IIRC, he played LF a couple of times before and I know he played a bit of CF before Hunter arrived as well). A-Rod went around Boras himself. A team cannot circumvent an agent because that is a breach of the CBA.
  9. The problem is that Ryan was a freak of nature and now he expects everyone to be able to do what he could do. That's a recipe for disaster.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 06:43 PM) Angels withdraw their offer for Tex. Torii Hunter weeps.
  11. I don't think it's fake. More pics here.
  12. 5 semesters of law school down, 1 semester to go.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 01:03 AM) That 98-100 MPH heater would have been very helpful in the blown "Ken Harrelson HEART Carlos Gomez" game up in the Dome...does anyone have a replay of that game available? How hard was he throwing in the 9th inning of that game? Gomez would have it anyway. Gomez would not have hit a curveball, which is what Jenks should have thrown.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 02:55 PM) He'd be the 2nd coolest Orlando we've had... You're right. Paulo Orlando is awesome.
  15. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 11:48 AM) Not in that picture she isnt. Stacy was much prettier than what I am looking at here She looks like a man.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) I'm confused...most of us seemed to be fairly happy when Kenny re-signed Jon after 05' to the 3 year/27 million...why would some of you now balk at $8 million per? I'd personally love to take him back at 3/$27 or so... 2005 was a career year for a young pitcher. It looked like that deal would be a great value on a top of the rotation arm. But he regressed and it's clear he won't have another season like that again.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) I don't think he is particularly speaking to the value of Javy Vazquez as much as he is the straight-forwardness and no-nonsense of Kenny in making deals. It was clearly a barb meant for Furcal's agents, not so much a sigh of relief that Javy is some kind of savioir... Absolutely.
  18. While that may end up being right, I think it's a bargaining tactic. The Yankees aren't interested in offering the highest bid either it seems, since any interest has been speculative. The highest offers will come from the Nats and Orioles. Caulfield might be saying the same thing, but I think the Red Sox know he'd rather play for a winner and don't have to up their offer.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 04:57 PM) Haven't seen many Atlanta people out there second-guessing giving up Flowers yet...they all CLAIM that he has no position with the Braves and was/is expendable. Second, MANY MANY posters here seemed to fall in love with Furcal over the last month, yet there are a ton of reasons (as listed in the article) why KW didn't come close to pulling the trigger, even though the popular belief was that we were the "mystery team" lurking in the shadows waiting to swoop in our prey and announce a shock to the AL Central race. Bobby Cox said he wasn't happy about giving up Flowers and that his bat was major league ready.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 11:27 AM) Why do I think the White Sox will sign Mark Mulder to a no risk contract? Why do I also think if they do, there will be countless posts how Cooper will have him pitching like he did in his prime? Ozzie ripped into Mulder a couple years ago. So I doubt that.
  21. QUOTE (juddling @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 10:09 AM) or if you want to think the other way...she'll be the safest woman in Bolingbrook. Petersen has got to know that if anything happens to her (even if he didn't do it) that he will be the main suspect. He will do all he can to keep her around. I wouldn't take that chance.
  22. Trib This article doesn't have her name, but the Today show said her dad is doing everything possibly to stop the marriage.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 08:01 AM) 7-10 inches more of snow today, plus 1/2" of ice. Anyone who likes winter should die a slow, painful death. Last week we had that east coast ice storm. People are still without power. I really hope that doesn't happen in Chicago.
