  1. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 07:02 PM) Bobby Jenks is about to hit arb and become very expensive. He has a screw in his arm and his strikeouts have been declining, which doesn't bode well for long-term success. Trading him at peak value makes a good deal of sense. I'm not saying we should trade him, but if the Mets or somebody offer a huge package, you take it. If we could get Beltran for Javy+Bobby (dreaming here), I'd be elated. Beltran has a full NTC and his agent is Boras. I wouldn't doubt the Sox would need to extend his deal to waive his NTC.
  2. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Nov 6, 2008 -> 11:06 AM) My mom just called, breathless, saying she heard on the Score that Dye, Swisher and Javy are shipping out. Anybody hear this? Don't think so. They were discussing that possibility. But I turned off the radio for a second so...
  3. He was my favorite author growing up. I read every book twice at least, until State of Fear. Sphere was a great book (the movie was awful).

    Sleeping Disorders . . .

I've had sleep paralysis, although I seemed to have a couple of episodes and then it never happened again. If you're worried, then see a doctor. I have no clue what he can do.
  5. So apparently upstate New York is the only place to find old school lever voting machines. Apparently there aren't enough. Luckily my gf went this morning and I voted absentee, but later tonight it's going to suck to vote around here.

    Scott Rolen

Where did the rumor come from? Rolen hasn't played a full season since 2006 and would be a down grade, looking forward, from Fields. I'd rather have Javy.
  7. QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 12:54 PM) I dont do the costume thing but I find children hilarious in theirs. You cant help but smile when you see them. I was at work and there is a day care next door. The kids were going around the block and one was dressed as a banana. It was hilarious.
  8. They don't seem to care about this move. Not that it matters. Meanwhile, they mentioned that Uribe filed for free agency?
  9. B&B are supposedly going to talk about Nix in a couple minutes if anyone is interested.
  10. QUOTE (yoyozuna @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 11:16 AM) If so was it for 16 million? I haven't seen anything. If they did it wasn't for $16M.
  11. If you don't have any contract in your possession, I recommend that you call the people that I posted earlier in the thread. Much of the terms might be boilerplate or there might be state wide standards, or they might have copies of contracts on file, or they might know the companies usual policies.
  12. Here's some quick information from the internet: Illinois Movers Association IL Attorney General's Office The best thing is to contact those government agencies, and see if they can help. Hopefully a phone call from them or information from them can resolve this quickly. Otherwise you will need an attorney if this goes to arbitration.
  13. Do you have any type of contract or receipt that specifies terms and conditions? I'm curious as to what their policies are, if they have any.
  14. I voted for McCain. I considered Bob Barr.
  15. After being sent down to AAA last year he had a .964 OPS in 67 games. I wonder if the scouts saw something that makes them believe he can turn it around. Otherwise he's insurance in case other deals don't get done.
  16. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 28, 2008 -> 09:43 AM) Coldest day in New York today since I've been here. Really can't say I'm looking forward to the next 6 months weather wise. New York City tends not to get that cold, respectively, because of the ocean. When my brother lived there he said the problem was sleet because it doesn't get cold enough to snow. I remember days when Albany would be getting 2 feet of snow and NYC was getting rain. But yeah, the weather is going to suck for a while.

    Rocco Baldelli

QUOTE (TCQ @ Oct 25, 2008 -> 05:07 PM) Ha sorry arbitrary friday night lights quote. I agree but if/when griffeys long gone id rather have him in center than swish or bander. Hed be relatively cheap and bring some speed to the lineup, thats it. Edit: I thought hed be low risk because he did show he could play this year and with his history i cant see him being very expensive or having the right to ask for a lot of years thats why . Sure theres risk involved but not that high imo. He can play only 3 times a week max and rarely will go 9 innings.

    Current Gas Prices

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 23, 2008 -> 11:16 AM) anyone following this closely? Is this likely to continue so long as the economy keeps "tanking" (pun most definitely intended)? Possibly yes, but read this. Also

    Current Gas Prices

I paid $2.87 yesterday in upstate NY. I was reading that OPEC will cut production this week so everyone fill up!
  20. I think I've seen people do it at like 10 mph, and that was stupid enough, but 80? That's retarded.

    Baseball Hall of Fame

QUOTE (mreye @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 02:42 PM) Thanks for the replies. Yeah, we've already planned to go to Ommegang. It's a guys trip, are there any good pub like places or sports bars to watch the World Series? I've been there twice. You picked a great time because the New York City folk are gone so parking will be easy and nothing will be crowded. Everything on Main Street is baseball themed, and you will be able to wonder place to place. Everything is close by.
  22. QUOTE (BearSox @ Oct 19, 2008 -> 10:19 AM) I think he stays in the National League with the Brewers. I think people underestimate the fact that Sabathia is a baseball player, and that he loves to hit. I doubt it will be the Brewers, but you are right about the NL part. He definitely wants to stay in the NL so he can hit. Of course, that probably just means it will cost an AL team just a little bit more.
  23. QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 17, 2008 -> 07:31 AM) Somewhere there is a very lucky guy thinking, wait! I better not do that, I could give myself cancer. very lucky, or very desperate?
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 09:29 PM) Love what John did this past year. But you've got to do it more than once to be considered elite. No reason to believe he won't be able to repeat or even exceed this year's performance next year, though. Agreed.
