QUOTE (knightni @ May 23, 2012 -> 05:33 PM) Why do people use apostrophes when they don't need them? Why do they use the wrong "your", "you're", or "there", "their" or "they're?" Why do they think that "for all intensive purposes" is correct? People write how they think it should be. But it stands out in the text. It's so obviously wrong that I can only think people believe that it's right.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 23, 2012 -> 04:45 PM) Pontoon boat, not even moving, bunch of 30 year olds not really making much noise at all. I've been on my lake driving boats since i was 8 legally since I was 12. Never seen anything like that EVER. They handcuffed me to their boat, took me in without a shirt or shoes on, strapped me down to a bed and took blood then handcuffed me to the floor of the jail for 14 hours without being able to get a drink or piss. All for sitting on my pontoon celebrating someones bday and unfortunately being the only boat out there at 5pm. Uh...where was this?

Why do people insist on putting dollar symbols after the number?

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 23, 2012 -> 02:10 PM) Those are not rehab programs, they are basically a video tape and forms to fill out... Second, I disagree...unless you are willing to pay $50-100 in many instances, in which case people wouldn't choose to go out in the first place and our local businesses would go belly-up even more. And to your cops point, I flat-out disagree. The focus of municipal police forces has changed from getting impaired driver's home safely to using DUI offenders as an atm card. Third, many people drink at home because of the size of this country and the lack of mass transportation in most areas. People are spread out all over the place, unlike much of Europe, for instance. I agree people should use better judgement when going out. Fourth, .08 is pretty easy to hit...there wouldn't be so many people with DUIs if it wasn't. The percentage of adults in this country who now have a DUI on their record is rising at a staggering rate. I believe I saw some 30% of US drivers have a DUI conviction... Third As to your second point, yes, cabs are expensive. I paid $40-60 to get wasted and be driven home. But it was an open bar...so that's just good business. The fact that cops are looking to give out DUIs does not mean there are more cops on the road in rural areas. I lived in upstate NY for 6 years and never saw a DUI checkpoint. The further out you got, the less likely you would ever see police. They don't have the money or resources to put into it. As for the 4th point...what? A rising rate of DUIs is not evidence that hitting .08 is easy. It's evidence of rising irresponsibility.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 23, 2012 -> 01:31 PM) Yeah, that is the tough-guy way to say it...unfortunately, it doesn't actually achieve anything. You can't say "Support our local community businesses...which revolve around you leaving your home and drinking alcohol at our establishments, meanwhile not having the infrastructure to support such behavior, and then sticking it to that person to make up for your other s***ty budgetary shortfalls. It is really easy for you to say this, Reddy, because you live in New York, where there are an abundance of cabs and trains to take if you've been out. Trying living in a non-metropolitan area. Don't mistake my position as advocating or tolerating DUI, because I don't. People using resources should be paying for the resources. First, there are plenty of court impose rehabs. There really isn't much else the government can do. Second, getting a cab is perfectly possible for almost everyone. I've lived in places were cabs are hard to get, and those that are around aren't regulated. But they exist and I've used them for weddings, parties, etc. and so did everyone else that attended. Oh, and if you live in a place with no cabs, how many cops do you think are waiting to pull people over? Probably none. Third, and probably most important to your point, is that our society is one of the few that revolves around drinking at home more so than in public. I drink a lot. More than most people in this country, but I primarily do it at home. If I want to go out, I don't drink much. Fourth, a .08 isn't as easy to hit as you think. It would probably take 3-4 glasses of wine for an average male to hit the limit. The government is plenty lenient in allowing you to go out and partake and get home safely.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 9, 2012 -> 08:43 AM) What is a cock-a-poo? Cocker and Poodle, I presume? Yup
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 8, 2012 -> 04:49 PM) My best friend just bought a cock-a-poo puppy. Named it Upton (he is a big Dbacks fan, but probably loves Kate Upton too). He paid $850 for the thing. Jesus. I can't imagine ever paying that much for a dog, or at least not while I am a college kid. That's a little more than what we paid for our cockapoo. They are expensive but great dogs. Best breed of small dog I've come across. It better be first generation though. Otherwise he might be getting ripped off (at least in my opinion).

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 05:04 PM) As a Michigan resident, I can get an enhanced drivers license that works like a passport when going to Canada. Pretty cool. I actually have one for New York. Used it all of once. Most people don't know what they are looking at when I hand it over.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 29, 2012 -> 06:09 PM) No. The claim is: using a stupid ass picture 5 years ago and they are saying that I have to pay for it. Note I say claim. I'm not admiting guilt or or no guilt with this post, assholes who monitor online activity. From what I know of my workplace we resolve this either by taking it down and telling them to go away or by paying up. The thing about these claims is that most will just pay because the asking price isn't high for a business.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 03:38 PM) heres what little about this i know - when rose came down, his knee bent medially - could be a sprain of the MCL or more worriesome - could be the ACL.... while examining Rose, the last thing the trainer did was test roses knee for an ACL tear - what is known as the anterior drawer sign ....hard for me to say if the test was positive without actually being the one examining the knee, but looked to me like there was a bit of laxity on exam, and the fact that it was the last thing the trainer checked before they got Rose off the court, not a good sign obviously ptatc will know much more about this than I do Wouldn't they have immobilized the knee?

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 03:39 PM) If a hard jumpstep is all it takes to ruin him, this injury was inevitable. Agreed. Nothing happened on that play that was out of the ordinary. Not that ROse should be in, but it's tough to say the injury wasn't inevitable.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 08:46 AM) The Sixers gave the Bulls at least one pounding earlier this year that I recall, although I don't remember if Rose played or not. But yes, the Bulls need to pound this team and put them away at the very worst in 5 so that they can get a couple extra days off before the Boston rematch. I don't remember if Rose played, but at the time they were playing way over their heads. They beat the Bulls to go to 16-6. They beat the Lakers a couple days later to go to 18-7 (their high water mark)...and then played 7 games under .500 the rest of the year. Not that you don't know all of this, but that is not the same team at started the season.

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 11:55 PM) On the plus side - more Spotted Cow Ale. Oh there is much more beer from them than Spotted Cow. Gotta get me some Raspberry Tart. I'm actually really excite about the move...except for the not having a job thing.

Looks like we will never know the reasoning from the arbitrator. The fact that neither side seems to care is alarming.

What a difference a goalie makes.

Crawford has no idea where anyone is. That's a weak ass goal.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 03:51 PM) Madison is a fun town. Have you been there before? Yeah back when my brother was in law school. But it's been a long time.

9 shots, 2 goals. That's not going to work.
-
How many centering passes to no one can the Hawks have?

Crawford faces 5 shots and looks awful. What a joke.

Wife got a job in Madison, WI. Heading back to the midwest at the end of next week. Awesome.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 09:34 PM) You gotta love the instigation penalty. If Shaw gets three for making contact with no intent to injure, Torres deserves at least double. Torres will get 1 or 2 games because it wasn't a goalie. And Q will be fined for those comments.

QUOTE (elamins @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 04:06 PM) Just bought a new 2012 Kia Rio. Now I'm not a car person by any means but even I can see something is wrong here. It is listed at 30mpg city and 40mpg highway. So I drove the car about 18 miles over 3 days ( it was a relaxing period for me) anyway my gas range in the car went from 298mi down to 254. Im no genius but that math doesnt make sense. Oh and I also had the eco drive on which is supposed to help save gas. Any ideas on why it would be that far off? First, thats a really small gas tank. Second, the range is based on how you drive. My CR-V will do the same thing. The range will improve on the highway.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 7, 2012 -> 05:39 PM) I have read good things about Bitter Truth's liqueurs, and I am dying to try their sloeberry gin. As delicious as the St. Elizabeth's is, I always end up cutting the recipe amounts in half because it is such a strong flavoring. I'll have to keep that in mind. So far though, pretty good stuff.
