Did the entire pitching staff go out and get plastered last night?

GT: Toronto Blue Jays @ Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 03:46 PM) If someone told you in March that Dunn would be hitting .209 with 133 strikeouts 3 innings until the All Star break, I don't think anyone would have pegged him to actually make the All Star team. PK and Dunn have slugged under .400 for the last month. I'm not sure PK is healthy, but Dunn is sorta back to being last year's Dunn.

I need Dunn to be good again.

That Youk is kinda good.

Two awful calls on that play. But even Hawk is blaming the pitching.

White Sox may go after Starting Pitching
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 06:07 PM) I believe the majority here believes Sale will be shut down at some point at the end of season. Not if they are going to the playoffs.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!
QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 06:12 PM) Dammit, these wins would be much more satisfying if the Indians/Tigers lost every now and then. But they just keep winning right along with us. The Tigers played the Rays, Twins and Royals while the Sox were playing the Yankees, Rangers and Jays. This was catch up week for the Tigers and they haven't been able to do anything.

Looks like Ventura likes putting pitchers out there to get ovations.

Team Batting Stats
I'd guess that 2006 team was awfully close. That team scored 520 runs in the first half. Yeah...

It's currently 106 degrees. That's a little warm.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 03:55 PM) A. Yeah, probably. If I had to pick I'd put him in the rotation over Humber. I wasn't really intending on turning this into an argument - it was just a "our rotation's really good" flippant kind of comment that y'all have gotten up in arms about. B. when he was 24-26. Peak years for a pitcher. But even in those years his SIERA was much higher than his ERA. Last year it was a bit lower, but it evens out to a 3.80-4.30 ERA with a 1.28-1.35 WHIP. Definitely useful, but not quite what a lot of us hoped Danks would be. That said, he's an awesome 3rd or 4th starter. Good enough for me.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 03:41 PM) When he proves he can get his WHIP back under 1.30, then I'll agree with you. Obviously Danks has better stuff, and a better track record, and is paid a lot more, but I dunno. I don't see him ever being a lights out starter. More of a high 3s, low 4s, 1.30 whip kind of guy who can't go late into games. A. The person you just described is better than Humber. B. Danks had 3 seasons of a mid-3s ERA and 1.2 WHIP which is better than Humber has ever been.

Sox currently have 3 starters with WHIPs below 1. I don't know if they will stay healthy, but that's a real tough rotation to deal with.

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 11:08 AM) Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan Alex Rios has the best batting average in the American League since May 29, .375. He's 19-for-38 (.500) with 3 HR, 9 RBI in last 9 games. It's nice to go from a dominating performance by Konerko to a dominating performance by Rios.

That's an awfully frustrating K. You can't take that pitch in that situation.

This is a ballsy move.

ESPN won't declare a bad call. But that was really close.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 08:15 PM) AJ has been one of the worst offenders this year of not taking pitches, of just swinging at anything. strange, from a veteran That's what he does. Always has.

QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 08:03 PM) So they just decided to intentionally walk Napoli with 2 out, oh and Napoli hits .163 against lefties The count was 3-1 and Septimo couldn't throw a strike...

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 08:01 PM) Is Septimo any good? I know he's as good as Ohman who reeked but is he any good? If the ball gets to the catcher on the fly he can be fine. But that's not easy for him.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 07:43 PM) No. I absolutely hate it. I can frickin watch WCIU games because the NBC station here picked them up, but I can't watch tonights game. Well there's this. I don't condone it but I can't pretend it doesn't exist...http://www.thefirstrow.eu/sport/baseball.html

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 07:38 PM) I can't watch the game, because I'm in Central Iowa and don't have CSN and ESPN gets blacked out, but it sounds like Youk has been more than adequate at 3B for us so far. You can't get it on ESPN 3?
