QUOTE (everafan @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 07:35 PM) Many of the hosts have hinted at it recently. Actually B&B very briefly mentioned that they are hearing things but it's so loose that they don't know what to do with it and didn't find it worth talking about.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 05:48 PM) I find it strange that it would take weeks after the failed test to suspend them. You'd think once they found out he failed then the next game he should be out, why let a known PEDer go out there for another 2 weeks, esp. in the heat of a pennant race, before discipline? If its a sound testing system then he should be gone already. Because they have the ability to appeal. If the player wins and the team has lost games in the meantime, there would be hell to pay.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 05:05 PM) I dont think Ive ever seen Jenks just randomly throw s*** out there... I've never known him to have a source...

QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 03:15 PM) Guilty until proven innocent. The new normal in the Internet age. Yeah, we should all bury our heads in the sand to the realities of sports today.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) Well, from your previous experience with them, do you honestly want to work there still? That's what the second interview is for I suppose.

QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 12:25 PM) Couldn't people get sued for defamation for posting crap on the internet that isn't true? Not really. He's a public figure.
-
Huh...I was informed that I will be having a second interview.
-
If you're gonna lose, might as well be really bad.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 02:40 AM) If it's a top firm/place of business I don't mind them trying to catch you off guard and whatnot and it is an interview so every little thing counts, but yeah you'd hope they could at least be respectful. It was most certainly not a top firm.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 10:44 AM) Those interviews suck and just be glad you didn't get a job there. That's a pointless interview tactic. I had one once with a personal injury volume shop firm. I met with a couple of the associates and partners in a conference room for like 45 minutes. One of the best interviews i'd had up to that point. I had the experience they were looking for, a couple of young associates in the office in a similar position to me, good convos and all that. Then the owner of the firm walks in. A total asshole. He says something like "I have only one question. I hand you a potential file (with X fact pattern), what do you do?" I'm taken aback a little, but I lawyer my way through an answer - investigate the case, decide whether it's worth filing, take deps, evidence deps blah blah. Basically described to him the entire case if planned out. He just listens to me ramble on and then at the end says "ok, i'm sorry this won't work. you forgot the key question - is there insurance? thanks for stopping by." At the time I was really pissed off and upset, but now i'm happy I didn't get that job. I worked for a guy who bragged about using similar interview tactics. He was a piece of crap.

Why such bad spelling?

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) this Romney speech is very boring Well that Clint Eastwood mess wasn't a great lead in either.
-
Just got back from an interview consisting of 3 fact patterns broken down into 10 hypos. I had 15 mins to review and then discuss. All dealing with ethics, evidence and criminal law. No other questions were asked. Can't have gone well for me. Lot of wasted preparation.

Swingers. For my age group, that's the movie that started people quoting. "Money." "Vegas, Baby" Big Lebowski isn't far behind.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 04:52 PM) The job of patents is not to protect Apple to infinity. The job of patents is to protect people who produce ideas enough to reward them but not so much as to stifle competition. Is the consumer better off if Samsung is putting out phones with the same basic setup as Apple, a few years later, and pushing Apple to make better products themselves? Or is the consumer better off if only Apple can ever use those ideas? No one would benefit if Xerox still had control over the concept of a mouse. Actually not really. Patent law is seen as a sort of exception to antitrust. Furthermore, if Samsung could show that they created everything independently, there would be no infringement. Clearly that isn't what happened. Last, if you want competition, then tell Samsung to make something truly innovative. And it isn't infinite. Edit: and the mouse is a bad example. What Jobs did was took the idea and "improved it" by making it with one button. There's nothing wrong with that.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 11:01 AM) I was setting my fantasy lineup for Sunday and noticed the Tampa Bay Rays don't play? http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com/schedule/inde...alendar=DEFAULT That's weird. GOP convention? Not being held at the Trop, but that's the only explanation.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 04:47 PM) If a standard autopsy could check for the kinds of deterioration that has been established for other NFL players, why do they send off for the more detailed analysis? Pretty sure any suspected deaths resulting from deterioration are being sent to NIH or Boston to be part of their studies.

I love the internet. Watching ESPN3 for the Sox because I'm otherwise blacked out. AND streaming Hell on Wheels to my phone hooked up to my TV.

And blacked out. Awesome.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 03:08 PM) He's thinking too much at the plate. That slows you down. When he's going well, his bat is plenty quick enough. That's a cop out. Guys with bad swings are going to think too much. There's no way anyone can be this bad without having mechanical flaws. And the Manto stuff is here

QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 02:38 PM) I'm sorry but it is. It's been three years and he's shown zero signs of breaking out of this funk. It's mental and the only thing that's gonna change him is a new team. I firmly believe that. I also don't think demoting him to utility player will do much for that fragile psyche of his. At least not in Chicago.... How on Earth do you know it's mental? If it was mental, then why doesn't he take that bad offense onto the field? His bat is too slow and attempts to make it faster have failed. That's a physical issue and he can't magically be faster without some assistance.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 04:57 AM) You know, the more i read about this f***ing mess the more I think we all f***ed up blaming Paterno right off the bat. This thing was higher than him, he was boxed out. Missing DA's, sex rings, multi-millionaires whoring out victims... even when Paterno got wind of what Sandusky was up to who the hell would say anything? Want to wind up dead? This geezer didn't run Happy Valley the way we all thought he did back in November. He was a pawn in a big game. If he rats a lot of powerful people go down and he knew it, and now he gets to take all the derision and hatred when we should be trying to look at the broader picture. For a long time now he was set up to be the fall man, the old guy who's time was coming, who had the most at stake and all the people committing these acts knew they could count on him to keep his mouth shut once they posed enough threats. Sandusky was the tip of the iceberg and there's a whole lot more underneath. Paterno happend to be the Titanic. Paterno was making money on sweet heart deals through the Second Mile. He profited, along with others, off the cover up. I doubt this has anything to do with death threats.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 04:15 AM) Not sure what that means It means getting engaged has been good for his junk.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 10:44 AM) This thing goes REALLY deep, its going to be worse than many of us thought I'm almost positive. My first reaction back in November was that more schools would be involved (or employees at schools Penn State was visiting). So I assumed it was bigger, but usually those assumptions are baseless. No matter how bad we think it is, the reality is just so much worse.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 12:38 PM) After seeing that Soriano said he had no interest in going to the Giants, and know that he turned down other trade opportunities, it makes me wonder... Is there something in the Old Style there? The fans don't care about winning, the players don't care about winning... It just amazes me that an awful baseball team, in an antique ballpark, has all of these players (such as Sori, Dempster, Wood, etc) who never want to leave. Soriano has played in 2 world series. And lost both. I don't know if that's more or less motivation.
