  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 08:22 AM) The Glaus AB was similar to the Sweeney/Politte AB from last wknd. Vazquez had thrown like 4 straight fastballs on the outside corner to Glaus. Thus...it was much easier for Glaus to be expecting that pitch in that location. Our pitchers have got to get back to throwing inside again. What really pissed me off about that AB was that Vasquez threw three fastballs that Glaus was late on, then threw him a curve that he could cath up to. That's a situation where hit and tight could end the AB.
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) All hail Xenu!!!!! Sounds right...Maybe there's a space ship behind the comet that we can hitch a ride on.
  3. Usually the lots are open for an hour after the game. But I'm not sure about day games. Nevertheless, don't expect it to be much longer.
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 10:51 PM) I guess its sort of fitting for Anderson to make the final out.... With a runner in scoring position.
  5. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) Let's be like St. Louis last year. That was 9 in the 9th against the Reds right? Yeah that was awesome...but this is over.
  6. Well at least the blow out won't be quite as bad looking. Nothing like padding stats,
  7. QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) Whenever Hawk does the scoreboard and the Florida Marlins are playing at home, he says they are playing the game in Fort Lauderdale. Well, as someone who has lived in Fort Lauderdale for 5 years I can tell you beyond a shadow of doubt that the Marlins absolutely do not play here. They don't even play in the same county as Fort Lauderdale. If anything, they are in Miami. Yes, I know... minor point and somewhat off-topic. My apologies, it just bothers me. I'll shut up now. :-) PS - What is Hawk and DJ's e-mail address? Maybe I'll educate him directly. its [email protected]
  8. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) If he is playing and Pods is on the bench, why not bat Cintron leadoff. He is the hot man right now. Because Cintron will hit for occassional power while Ozuna is a bit of a slap hitter who bunts well.
  9. I voted for Thomas, but I really miss the old fifth starter carousel. Where is Danny Wright? And the rest... I know Rauch is still in baseball, Nationals I believe.
  10. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) ah thats true with the nursing pods and anderson idea. And I have np with Cintron being in the lineup, i love him, just is weird snubbing uribe twice in a row. :] Ride the hot bats while you can.
  11. Barring any major wind issues, Ozuna can play the field decently enough. Pods has been so bad that Pablo has become the better option for right now. Hopefully he doesn't screw up in the field.

    Top 100 Screenplays

I must have missed something here. Memento must be down the list because it is adapted because I can't see how these movies can be in these positions.
  13. Boy oh boy, I can't wait for a classic WCIU telecast. SOXNET!
  14. I'm not the most right leaning but I did vote for Bush so here's my two cents: Rumsfeld did have talks with everyone he could about the war, then ignored those who gave negative feedback. That's not to say that they should not have gone to war, but it means that they are not prepared for what is going on right now despite those who told them it was a possibility (Powell). I find it difficult to deny these accusations, but there are people here that know way more than I do and who represent the right better than me. Nevertheless, as a Republican this is my effort to give a little back to the other side. Read "Bush at War" and "Plan of Attack" by Bob Woodward. IMO, those are good books that give a fair background into the decisions to go to war in Afghanistan and Iraq.
  15. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 09:26 AM) I noticed this year that DJ didn't seem as bad as he has in the past. He and Hawk seem to get along better this year as well. There aren't as many awkward silences, there are silences, but they don't follow tiffs between the Hawk and DJ. DJ used to do some national stuff for Fox, and I thought he was better when he did that than when he did Sox games. For this I blamed Hawk. But now they seem to have a better relationship in the booth. Maybe it's because Hawk compliments DJ for his playing days every so often.
  16. The first time he pitched in ST I thought this guy could be a good one if he could locate an occassional breaking ball, and every time he goes out there now he does that a little better than the time before. I fully expect him to get blown up in a game or two when he can't locate but otherwise he should be able to be a LOOGY at the least, and an eighth inning set-up man at best. Luckily there won't be any pressure on him to be that good.
  17. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) Nice.... always like to see another Soxtalker from Palos Park... ... though I've now moved away from my home town. Yeah I'm here till August, then off to grad school. Someone else on Soxtalk is from around these parts, I think...
  18. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 11:00 PM) It's an alternate jersey that will be wore on Sunday home games, from what I understand. That's what I thought, but I haven't heard anything about them in a while. I guess we'll get to see them this weekend.
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) Is pitcher's choice a team thing or an established custom around the league? I'll join those in saying it's the first I knew that, I assumed the team had to notify the league in advance if they were making a uniform switch. I figured there was a schedule laid out at the start of the year since some of the uniforms corresponded with special events. Google search, Diamondbacks have the SP select. As far as I know it is the custom around the league. The have to notify the Commissioner's Office when they introduce a new uniform that they will wear during the year. The team, in tmany cases the SP, may choose from those accepted uniforms. However, there are certain events, like Turn Back the Clock, where the team dictates which unis will be worn. This is my knowledge on the subject.
  20. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 04:11 PM) Then a confused Santo called his team the Cincinnati Cubs and recalled his days hanging out with Grandpa Simpson in the ole canteen in 1921 wearing an onion on his belt, as was the style at the time.... Then he said they decided to express their love physically, as was the style at the time.
  21. Don't they have 1906 alternates this year? What's the story on that?
  22. I think it's just a fastball, change, curve deal, but his arm angle is deceptive.
  23. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) Who is worse Singleton or Joe Carter?? Carter. This topic pops up every couple weeks. IMO, Singleton isn't that bad as a color guy but he can't do PBP which Farmer makes him do. That's bad enough, but on top of that THEY TALK THROUGH THE PLAY! One of them will stumble through some nearly pointless commentary then tell you later that 2 more pitches were thrown in the mean time. I still think Farmer is the problem because I doubt he knows that there is a problem.
