  1. This is the guy who threw a bat at Mike Piazza, I'm not that shocked that he's stupid enough to say this in front of reporters.
  2. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 09:05 PM) Rooney's used to working with subpar boothmates. I guess that's true, though they sounded worse than Farmer. Of course I've only heard that one call.
  3. I really missed him last night when I was listening to the game trying to fall asleep. The other guys in the booth aren't real good, IMO.
  4. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 05:04 PM) I agree that the suit was ridiculous. But since when has it been acceptable to call people names as long as you're "pushing them to excel?" I doubt we have the whole story here. Think of a gym teacher saying these things. The coach might be a jerk but I doubt he was really attacking the kids verbally. I guess we will never know for sure, but the judge certainly wasn't buying into the lawsuit.
  5. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) The fact that it was his daughter is all the more telling about the obnoxious personalities involved. "Oh, your coach was yelling at you? Like all coaches do? Let's sue for millions of dollars! Millions of dollars will make you feel better. I know it makes me feel better." ***hole. You're right, it's ridiculous. The lawyer has probably sued on worse cases and won, so he figured this would be easy. Must have got the wrong judge.
  6. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 03:16 PM) I don't know how the lawyer could submit that with a straight face. It was his daughter so I think it was easy.
  7. So I guess this guy is the new Batgirl?
  8. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) whitesox.com's page after the Sox won 7 in a row in 2000 I'll never forget that grand slam by valentine.
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 07:29 AM) They lost 3 good bullpen arms, 2 of their best starters, and one of their better everyday players. We added Jim Thome, Javy Vasquez, and 2 damn good and versatile bench players in Rob Mac and Cintron. Clearly the fact that we got better and they got worse after a year we went 14-5 against them and won the Central by 6 games makes Cleveland the favorites. I have to agree. Yeah they have a great offense even without Crisp, but just because the guys are young doesn't mean they will be better than last year. The Sox won with pitching, and will win with pitching. The Indian's staff is worse than last year.

QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 08:51 PM) I think there pushing that song to much.. It was last year, mediocre song, just.. no reason for it to be here now. Time to get thunderstruck playing, and start going again. New year Not only was it that damn song, but it was a organ version of it that really sucked. I just wish we could have seen the videos.
  11. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) Looks like the heavy stuff has moved out. I can't imagine what the field must look like though. They are going to be running through puddles. Good thing we have the best groundskeeper in the bigs. They got the tarp on before the heavy stuff came down, but, yeah, the outfield will be soaked. That field drains really fast though.
  12. QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) This isn't meant to be critical, I just don't have the answer and am curious. Why would they want to start the game at 11 p.m. with tomorrow's weather to be nice? Is it because they know nobody will attend tomorrow's game on such short notice and there would be no walk up gate at all? Is it because they think we will likely win the game? is it because with an off date tomorrow they can play until the 2 a.m. curfew without it bothering anybody? I just wondered what the reason would be to delay a game that long, especially if it poured so hard. I won't mind at all watching it on ESPN at 11 but it seems like a no brainer to call it off. I think it's because ESPN has rights to televise the game and they aren't going to clear time to show it tomorrow. So it's either played tonight or we don't get to watch. Obviously I have no proof of this, but that's what I think. Plus, players have plans for tomorrow I'm sure and it's more convenient for them to get it done.
  13. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 09:22 PM) What's a Rosin Bag? It's the white bag at the back of the pitcher's mound that they use to dry their hands. It's kinda like chalk.
  14. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) Technically your ERA is infinity (well, non-existant since you cant devide by zero) , but it's listed as 99.99 Gotcha, thanks.
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) Runs per 9 innings. Say you give up 3 runs in 6 innings. That's 1 run every 2 innings = 4.50 ERA. What if you give up runs without making any outs? Like that guy on the Royals a few years ago?

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 06:01 PM) BRUTAL TV Coverage...didnt show the video, Pat kept talking...just AWEFUL n Comcast's part Yeah that was about as disapointing as it could be. I know the moment was cool, but that coverage was real bad.
  17. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) Replica rings AND trophies? Either "hot damn!" or they must be pretty cheap looking I didn't include this in the Brooks thread when he was on the Score, but he said the trophies are the best quality give away item he's ever seen. We'll see how that goes.
  18. QUOTE(allupons @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 12:14 AM) I am a little suprised by the desire to trade contreras on these boards. In my opinion, he has without a doubt the best raw stuff of anyone on our starting staff. His only limitation had been the head games he played in his mind, but Coop righted the ship last year and now he is utulizing his vast potential. He was our ace when it came down to the playoffs last year and I predict will remain our ace for quite some time. I personally expect Garland to be the odd man out at the end of the year when he doesnt live up to last years performance, and makes room for BMac in the rotation. It's not that people don't like him or his ability, it's that there are too many starters and it seems like someone has to go. Now, maybe we are all wrong and KW wants it this way, but it made sense for Jose to leave or be traded because of his contract. I don't think anyone is really pushing for a trade, we all just want to know what happens next.
  19. I can't explain this one, but it was the same way back when I was in high school.
  20. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) Tomorrow night: Scattered strong thunderstorms. Low 46F. Winds SW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 60%. 46 degrees and rain? Sounds like October weather.
  21. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) I'm sure the Cubs were and possibly still are interested in Carlos Lee. But trading Murton, Guzman, and Hill for Carlos Lee would still make no sense for the Cubs for the present or for the future, especially with both Wood and Maddux likely being gone next season. Hendry would never make this deal. In other words, the Cubs actually trading for Carlos Lee could make some sense. This specific deal, however, would not make any sense for the Cubs. By the way, even Cubs fans would feel that they were getting ripped off in this proposed deal. They love Murton and Guzman and realize that Carlos Lee is overrated, especially if they would only have him for one season before he hits free agency. Stole my thoughts. The Cubs can't afford to make this deal when two of their pitchers are out for a month. It's a fine deal if the Cubs had 5 starters, but they don't and there's no reason to bring in Lee when Murton is as highly regarded as he is. On the other hand, there's the Dusty factor. He doesn't play young guys and he wants to keep his job. I doubt Hendry would make a deal like this though.
  22. KW is about to be on WhiteSox Weekly so I guess we'll find out.
  23. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 11:08 AM) Was it Mike North's show who announced it? I know they usually do a yearly April Fool's joke... I'd be pissed if he was working weekends too.
