  1. None of them picked the Red Sox, so actually these rankings are a minor victory.
  2. I think there's a joke or two in that sentence.
  3. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) A world series ring with the 2006 White Sox wouldn't hurt his cause. That could actually be really important. I don't see him in the HOF right now, but if he could lead a team to a World Series win (by actually playing), that could change his status.
  4. I was a Kappa Sigma at Marquette. Best experience I ever had. We actually prided ourselves on always getting guys who said they would never join a fraternity and thought it was stupid. I said the same stuff before I joined.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 05:34 AM) FYI What's really interesting is that, according to World News Tonight a few weeks ago, the international news community believes American news outlets are making the war look too positive and are too pro-government. I doubt I'll be able to find the story online, but I haven't tried looking either. I don't know if anyone else saw it.
  6. It's kinda funny since I'd always heard about how smart the guy is. Oh well, it's not like he's gonna lose his job over this.
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) What do you mean by "fall apart?" He pitched two scoreless innings. I said he didn't fall apart. Remember Uribe's error in his first game? That didn't go real well.
  8. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 08:59 PM) You talkin' about today's outing? Yes.
  9. Hawk and DJ were talking about the change in delivery. They just said he looked more fluid. He seemed to have a bit more explosiveness on his fastball. Plus, he didn't fall apart after the Iguchi error. That's a big sign for his confidence.
  10. Graf could win the starting 2nd base job with the Cubs at this point.
  11. From ESPN Towards the bottom Let's hope that's the case. There's also something written under it about a certain former Sox prospect. I hope people don't get pissed off, I know this is a touchy subject, but it makes the Sox look good:
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 02:15 PM) only thing im worried about our bullpen right now is Jenks... if he can repeat last seasons performance I think we are set and ready to rock. I have to agree. If he is what we think he is then the back end of the bullpen is nailed down. If he can't perform then the bullpen gets real shakey.
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 06:10 PM) I have 4 tickets for lower box seats good for any April/May game besides the Cubs series. Do I have to call and let them know what game I plan on attending first or just show up? In my experience with vouchers you can just show up. But that was last year and the voucher was for the upper deck. I didn't know they gave out vouchers for box seats, and you are calling them tickets. Maybe I'm not best to answer this question. However, if you can call I recommend that you do only because of the higher attendence.
  14. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) Ha the timing on this couldn't be more random but better. Especially if it gets them on the board, and they notice the new TalkBulls and TalkBears. Way to just slip that right in there.
  15. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) What a change indeed... :puke She looked a heck of a lot better in her X-Files days. Damn right. These pictures make her look like she got a nice little eating disorder goin'. Or possibly drugs. Eww.
  16. QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) Looks like little to no help from outside the sox organization for the bullpen anyways. I can't imagine what a decent SP would cost. This offseason it was Miguel Tejada.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) That couldnt be more wrong from what I saw. Mirabelli was 10 seconds late on 2 straight fastballs. The guy who hit the bomb guessed right and won. I thought his fastball looked great, just lost some location after several pitches. He gave up four hits pretty quick and they were all fastballs. And like I said in that post, unless he can throw a breaking ball he's in trouble.
  18. Per the Score. There weren't any terms announced, but Zach Zeidman (sp?) announced the deal.
  19. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) It was 4 unearned runs. And the guy gave up 4 hits and issued 2 walks in 1.1 innings. He still folded like a cheap tent after Uribe's error. It would be a different story if he had gotten out of the inning soon after Uribe's error. This guy is a reclamation project at best right now and I hope KW comes up with someone better by opening day. I just don't get why people come off as calling for Thorton's head, or why you care what his ERA does. It's not like he was going to be great today.
  20. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) He didn't deserve to lower his spring ERA with today's outing. And he didn't deserve to have Uribe turn a Timo glove move and drop an easy ground ball. Also I think it was 5 unearned runs.
  21. Re-reading some of the stuff on the board, I guess that's a slider and not a curve. It was definitely something that dropped alot but that he only threw twice. I need to see him again.
  22. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 06:42 PM) Can somebody break down Thorton's outing? He came out with good control over the fastball and should have been out of the inning immediately. He couldn't locate any breaking stuff so everyone easily hit the fastball. Here's the thing about him, it looks almost like the ball doesn't go as fast as the gun says. I can't explain that. He was in the mid-nineties, but it didn't seems like anyone was having any problem catching up. Unless he can locate his curve, which looked like a decent one, he will be useless. Also, he couldn't pitch to lefties. He started aiming it rather than letting it go. I'd say he needs ALOT of confidence first, then he needs to locate the off speed stuff. He is not hopeless, but he is very raw especially for his age.
  23. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) If you're still not convinced, Google "productive outs", there are hours of reading material proving their relative worthlessness to winning baseball. This is very logical. Most good teams don't need to make outs in order to advance runners or score runs. While a crappy team might get a double, then move a guy over with a fly out, a better team scores that runner with a hit. Productive outs help a good team, but they happen more often on a team like Colorado.
  24. QUOTE(JoeBatterz @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) Who remembers how he first hurt his back or is this just a chronic degeneration over time? I think it's just one of those things. He's always had the problem, but it kinda gets worse every year and there really isn't anything to do about it except try to manage the pain. I guess degeneration is a fair way to describe it.
  25. Since I have never seen the Disqualified List used, I figure I'd throw this out for anyone else who might be wondering about it: Disqualified List: A player who violates a player contract or reservation may be placed on this list. There is no minimum number of days the player must remain on the Disqualified List before the player can be reinstated to the Active List. A player on the Disqualified List does not count against a Club's Active List limits or its Reserve List limits.
