  1. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) First off, Buehrle and (insert name here) should be on the list. Second off, no way should Mussina and Johnson be on the list. Also, Beckett and Schilling No.1? What the f*** did those losers do last year to merit this spot? Also funny that they gave no love to Cleveland either. I think Lee and Sabathia/Westbrook could deserve mention. I think Buehrle and Contreras can easily be on the list at this point. The problem is that it's difficult to pick two out of these 5. By the end of the season, it could be Vasquez and Contreras as the best guys. It's much easier to pick from some of those teams where they only have two good starters.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) yeah that was way weird.... especially since they did it over the radio. The best was the other guy with Mully cant remember his name was like we really have to stop doing this crossover crap. That would be Brian Hanely (sp?). The whole thing was really weird and probably will end the cross talk, which I used to like way back in the day. North and Mully still have a good cross talk actually.
  3. Cat fight with Raquel Welch. C-C-C-C-Cat fight.
  4. Crede will also have to hit to get recognition. After his performance in the post season, there are a lot of eyes on him. If he can play solid defense and improve enough on offense to stay in the highlight reels, he could win. It's easier to repeat as Gold Glover than to win the first time. Just ask Raphael Palmeiro who won at first base without actually playing first base.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) Indians offense is looking pretty good, but their pitching hasnt been that great. Lee, Byrd, Sabathia, Cabrera, etc have all been pretty bad IMO. I dont think they have the shut down pitching to carry them through an offensive slump. Barring a turn around from past performances I'd have to agree with you. Lee could be have a break out year, but everyone is still waiting for CC to be consistent and healthy, and Byrd is going to have bad stretches, while Jason Johnson doesn't scare anyone. But with the balance in that lineup, offensive slumps might be short.
  6. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 12:39 AM) i think some people have NUTS all the time.... Yipes! I need to do some error checking.
  7. That is really awesome, and it's worth it just to hear Scully's call.

    Ortiz signs

When he was with the Twins they used to make him go opposite field and play their style of ball. But that's not the type of guy he is, and when he left he blossomed. I remember Hawk talking about this a few times.
  9. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 11:02 PM) That quote is fairly accurate. I don't see anything wrong with it. Hawk IS a massive homer and he WAS a terrible GM. Out of curiosity, did he say "Good guys" as the result of the marketing plan, or did the marketing plan come from his saying? I thought it was the former.
  10. I expected all of them to be around 14 since they lost to the Royals twice. Anyway, it's clear that most people aren't as quick to count the Sox out as some people around here.

    Who's hungry

What does one do with such a thing? Can you keep it? Would you display it? The mystery abounds.
  12. Another possibility is that it could a little warmer this April than in the past. But looking through the weather reports I can't say that for certain.
  13. I finally bothered to look at those pictures on ESPN, and the park is really beautiful. The skyline looks great.
  14. Good for them. The Sox had better teams than the Twins and look where that got them.
  15. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 07:53 PM) Thread title speaks for itself. Its going to be a kickass season all the way around people. I'll come in off the ledge, but I'm not shutting the window. I don't know if that needs green, people around here have nuts lately.

    "K-Fed" Illegally Samples

By the way, did anyone get to see Conan last week when he had James Lipton read this guy's song lyrics? It was pretty funny. Then he did a beer bong and spat all of it out. That, also, was funny.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) There is one good thing that came out of this. I found the title and the singer of the song that they use in Mythbuster commercials lol. That song and that music video are the epitomy of "funny bad." I can't believe someone would steal, and I'll bet Dolby is the most surprised guy in all of this.
  18. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) Where did he say exactly that? I thought Buehrle has said he would love to pitch for Cardinals, but has reservations due to his love for privacy (essentially, he said that he'd be recognized more by people in Missouri if he pitched for the St. Louis team), and that he'd sign for Life with the Sox if it were offered to him. I wasn't aware that he'd said, exactly, "I want four to six years with the Sox, then go to St. Louis kthnx Kenny Wills!" The last thing I saw from him was saying that if the Sox gave him a contract, he would sign it and be the happiest guy in Chicago or something to that effect. I think it was in the Trib, but I don't think I saw that quote here. I wish I posted it now.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 05:20 PM) Team W L PCT GB Cleveland 5 1 .833 - Detroit 5 2 .714 0.5 Chi White Sox 3 4 .429 2.5 Kansas City 2 3 .400 2.5 Minnesota 1 5 .167 4.0 That's one hell of a sig.
  20. Once I saw what song it was I had to post this. He really sucks Linky
  21. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) is this considered a pitchers park or a hitter park? but it looks sweet It's considered "fair" by those who built it, which is what they always say. There is no way of knowing until a season pans out.
  22. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) Thomas has made atleast a slight mechanical flaw in his swing this year - I noticed it opening night. In his past, he has always leaned on his back foot, like all players do, and then transfer that weight forward through the swing - but Thomas did this so much that he always very clearly ended up standing on his left foot only. Now his right foot remains grounded throughout the swing, as far as I could tell. Well judging by what Tanner said, that is obviously because he can't support the weight. The only other thing could be that it's just early and he isn't locked in yet, but I think if he starts posting up on that foot, he's not long for this season.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) "Damn why did I turn down that contract?" I think that's pretty acurate, yes. I took the park dimensions from ballparks.com. But they probably got them from the walls.
  24. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) Plenty. The Tribe could've stumbled out of the gate and not recovered Or he might not have been injured. Who knows?
