  1. QUOTE(The Human Borch @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 05:30 PM) In this past week the tigers have generally been losing when we have, also, JOE CREDEEEEEEEEEEEE (in my best hawk voice) This really can't be over looked. As bad as the Sox have been recently, it hasn't hurt them as much as it should in the standings. That's always good.
  2. Let's try a new option. DH for BA. The pitchers can't be that much worse can they?
  3. I'm happy that it's not May. I'm hoping for a strong June.
  4. QUOTE(Felix @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:25 AM) Its not so much that the Sox lost, its that they didn't execute where they should have. That sums up almost every loss this season. Outside of Santana and maybe a few other games this team simply beats itself too often. A new month hopefully will help out. Bring on June.
  5. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ May 30, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) Bunt and get his fatass moving in the heat. Ozuna will bunt, it might go right to the pitcher, but he'll bunt. Speaking of which, there better not be any wind in left field...or sun...or balls hit there.
  6. I think ESPN might have in on Insider. Everyone is waiting for a press conference announcement I think. Also this would make Steve Stone wrong. He thought Clemens would go to Boston.
  7. More problems for Indian pitching: I guess this was already posted. oops.
  8. Just mentioned on the Score, but they are trying to find sources.
  9. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 29, 2006 -> 03:18 PM) And if Uribe gets in a little hot streak people won't be able to use the "but he's not our worst hitter" excuse. If Uribe gets on a hot streak then BA's problems will become no more than an annoyance. That would really help out.
  10. QUOTE(Dawgs @ May 29, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) How is this a total fluke team? My cause was taken up by mmmmmbeer, thankfully, but my statement was to the point that the Tigers are not a fluke, but I don't care about them until after the ASB. I thought that was clear enough.
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 29, 2006 -> 10:26 AM) The Tigers are legit thus far. But I won't fully believe them until the ASB. Starting today and through at least half of June, the Tigers are playing a stretch against several teams over .500. Look at what happened to the Orioles and Rangers' hot starts last year. It's a LONG season; we certainly learned that first hand last year. I'll echo these sentiments by saying that I won't care about the Tigers until after the ASB. It's rare that a total fluke team makes it to 20 games over. However, the White Sox have enough issues to work out before they can care about the Tigers, so that's where my attention will be. I will say this, the Tigers will have a cold month or so just as the Sox did, and when it happens I doubt they will have a 15 game cushion to keep them afloat.
  12. When they replayed it, you could clearly hear someone yell "Neifi, Neifi!" just before Ramirez got hit in the head. My brother pointed it out to me and he was right. I don't know who yelled it or why but I think that's why he looked away.
  13. I think they should start with Howry and Eyre and see what they can get. This team won't be competitive for a few years and they are only going to get older. They'll have to take on some of the salary but so what. I don't see why Ramirez is untouchable at this point, someone might take Prior just because he might be able to pitch, and Wood leaves as a free agent. There's no question that they will have to take on a lot of salary to get good prospects, but I don't see how they have a choice if they want to be competitive in this decade. Unless they don't care...
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 24, 2006 -> 10:29 PM) The same guy from Baseball Prospectus that broke the story this spring that Prior was injured and the Cubs were hiding it. That guy has earned my trust. Meanwhile, if Prior doesn't come back there's gonna be a firesale for over priced old guys on the northside.
  15. Who said this on the radio? I only ask because there people saying that Jenks lost 5-7 mph in spring training and those people were wrong. That said, with the Cub's season going the way it is I'm sure it's true.
  16. QUOTE(JoeBatterz @ May 24, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) I want to say that the only Sox game I saw in person last year when I got back to Chicago, Buehrle started against the A's on a Saturday night and we got smacked 10-1. I was at that game...the fireworks after the game were really good. That was the only upside to the worst game I've ever been to.

    Cubs

Borchard hit a 3 run homer in this one. Awesome.
  18. I remember saying that in order for two teams to win over 90 games in the AL Central, one team would have to lose a TON of games, which I said won't happen because every team is improved. I was very wrong.

    Lithuanian Man's BAC 7.27

You're right they are I will try to convert this by saying that a BAC here that is fatal is .45. This guy more than doubled it. Proportionally he would be at about a .93 That would mean 53 shots of 80 proof liquor over a 6 hour period for a 200 pound man. Since he had been drinking all night, over a 10 hour period it would be 55 shots. He may have been heavier but at 250 pounds over ten hours that's about 65 shots. My meathods are probably terrible but I think this is some severely heavy drinking.
  20. QUOTE(Balance @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:10 PM) From what I've heard Hawk and DJ say about Garland, much of his success last year came from his ability to pitch inside. Lately, I haven't seen him try to get people out inside. I wonder if Cooper agrees with Hawk and DJ. Dr. Cooper was on with North this morning and he said he's looking for Jon to throw more breaking balls inside. He did that last year with no problem but now he's doesn't have the same confidence. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:30 PM) Right now the Sox have the most talented team when Garland is starting and B-Mac is in the pen. By moving Garland you would severely weaken the pen, and possibly (in my opinion likely) weaken the starting rotation. If everyone here is worried about winning championships, then you have to keep both Garland and B-Mac, unless Garland was giving you a piece to win this year. The grass isnt always greener. I think most everyone agrees with you, I know I do, but that doesn't allow Garland to underperform. This guy has the ability and we want to see it. Can't make excuses.
  21. QUOTE(JimH @ May 23, 2006 -> 09:28 AM) George Offman just basically took responsibility for the whole mess. He was on with Mike North this morning and Offman misquoted Dempster ... and the media supposedly picked it all up from the WSCR update desk. Mitch Rosen is now involved, I think he's the Score's general manager, Offman is in some real hot water. There will definitely be more to come on this story, and soon. Offman has made a lot of mistakes lately, he usually gets the early scoop but lately he's been creating more stories than he's reporting. This could be the end for him. At least he's owning up to it.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 23, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) Dont know. But you have to think that Coop would have been able to 1. Develop a better training program for both Prior and Wood so that they are at least ready to come back and play. 2.Be able to tweak his delivery a touch so that he is somewhat less prone to injury. I think the problem has been that they don't listen and the organization covers for them. Right now though, I don't think Prior wants to pitch for the Cubs and he'll remain "injured" for a while. But that's just me talking.
  23. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ May 23, 2006 -> 10:49 AM) Nitetrain, just because we have 4 other good starters does not mean we need to accept utter crap from our fifth starter, especially when we have another guy capable of starting in the bullpen and Garland has only put up good numbers in ONE year. ^^^ Well said, I'm sick of the argument that the fifth starter doesn't have to be good. What happens when other guys go into funks? Other teams aren't paying what the Sox are paying for a fifth starter. I've said it before, Garland just might pitch himself into a trade after this season, but I'd much rather he pitch inside with confidence and win some games.
