Tigers win, oh well.
-
Probably because they wanted to give us a crappy picture to show off a Holiday Inn advertisement.

Hey, on the plus side, he may waive the no-trade clause if the fans get on him enough.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 11:21 AM) Widger, C Uribe, SS Anderson, CF Does anyone know Buerhle's record with Widger behind homeplate? I thought I heard on the Score that he has an ERA over 5 and has no victories. It was a John Dewan stat and I don't remember it.
-
It said specifically in the Trib today that the Phillies aren't trading Rowand because it would be a PR disaster.

QUOTE(TaylorStSox @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 11:54 AM) Finally, the offensive production of your SS (8th hole) isn't nearly as important as his defensive production. Sure, Uribe's had some lapses recently, but he's so much better than Cintron (or most in baseball) that it's not even comparable. Production out of the eighth spot is important now because we have no production out of the ninth spot...or the first spot really. Someone at the bottom has to drive in runs occassionaly and it hasn't been Uribe. Second, it's been clear that Uribe has been taking his bat into the field with him this season. While he is a better player than Contron, he has not been more productive or helpful this season. Uribe has made some great plays, but has made a lot of mental mistakes too. No, Cintron cannot be an everyday player, but Uribe has to get going, otherwise I'd rather see Cintron get a few extra at-bats.

It was reported on the Score during White Sox weekly that the Sox have inquired about Soriano, Brady Clark, and Reggie Sanders. Nothing too surprising. Sanders is too expensive he says. Soriano isn't too great of a possibility despite decent defense. Clark is most intriguing, but that's all the info he has on that. Offman also thinks the Sox will make a bullpen deal before an outfield deal. But I didn't hear any names.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) Or it's a matter of opinion, trading McCarthy (only righty setup man in the pen right now) + prospect (could be used to add pieces) for Carl Crawford in order to fill a position that is not the most pressing need of this ballclub while further weakening the most pressing need (bullpen) is just down right laughable. It also could create a hole in the fifth starting spot for next year. I doubt Garland will be back.
-
They said the same crap last year and they were wrong. His comments seemed to be directed at the hitters, but we all know the problem is really with the pitching. At any rate, the comment was stupid, IMO. This team can win if they play smarter.

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) I missed the part where Ervin Santana>Brandon McCarthy. That said, I doubt McCarthy would be traded. I missed the part where BMac was an All-Star pitcher. The fact is the Rays won't just take an unproven pitcher.
-
From FoxSports: Story According to this Santana wouldn't be enough, which means BMac wouldn't come close.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 09:38 AM) All good points, but I think it's been proven that your body doesn't make you innocent or guilty. People of all shapes, sizes, and positions are doing illegal s*** in baseball....it's out of control and you never know who is innocent and who is guilty now. Sad but true. That's true but, unfortunately, body type is all the info we can go off of right now. I'm suspicious of everyone, I just think Pujols has a higher suspicion level than others right now. I hope the names come out soon so we don't have to speculate like this.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) Using Thome as an example of how you can develop incredible power after coming into the draft without it may turn out to be a VERY bad example..... That's not really what I was doing. I was just throwing it out there for people to think about. But there is one big difference between the two guys. Pujols looks like a body builder that learned to hit a baseball, while Thome looks like a lumberjack that learned to hit a baseball. Bonds, Sosa, McGuire, and Canseco all looked more like body builders.
-
Well I hope for his sake and for baseball's he didn't. But those under suspicion have a tendency to be found guilty. Don't forget, this was also a guy who defended Bonds just a couple weeks ago.
-
This team will take anyone that can get the job done. If Tracey can do it, he'll be here.
-
She had a nose job, I believe. I think my girlfriend said something about that.
-
What makes Pujols suspicious to me is that it is well known that he did not hit for power like this when he was drafted...but on the other hand, Hawk was talking about how Thome couldn't for power either. (A change in batting stance helped his power ability, according to Hawk in that story).

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) Okay... But cf exposes everything about Mack. Granted, they both suck. But cf is the more important position, so you have to ask, who is worse? Both will probably get to the same number of balls hit to center despite their difference in speed. The problem with Pods is his arm. Mack's isn't that good but Pod's is like Juan Pierre, which means guys will tag from first on fly balls to center like they do on Pierre.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) Can you believe it? It's possible to win a game with Makowiak in CF. That I can believe. What I can't believe is that they can win when Montero gets in the game. He looked real good.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 05:38 PM) When of the things I havn't heard mentioned is the fact that Grimsley, who is going to go down as probably the beginning of the end of this era is in fact a pitcher. After all the talk about Bonds, McGuire, Sosa and Giambi all these sluggers that have been mentioned and hardly any pitchers, what? Roger Clemems? It's amazing that the guy who will bring it all down is just some relief pitcher who's been hanging around for what seems like forever, jumping from team to team, making more and more contacts. Also, how long until we hear "GrimsleyGate"? You know it's bound to happen. It was said from the beginning that relieve pitchers were going to be the biggest culprits in the steroid investigation. We hear about the big home run hitters because they are breaking records and are constantly in the spot light. Also, a lot of people have given them a free pass, IMO, because they had to face these enormous hitters. Right or wrong, I don't know. On the Clemens topic, watch for a sudden "injury" that doesn't allow him to make to the bigs. I doubt he's dumb enough to come back now if he actually uses this stuff.
-
You don't need to vote for Thome, Ozzie will take him no matter what.
-
It would take too much to get him now. It would have been a good idea last off season, but that's hind sight for ya.

QUOTE(Sox1422 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:16 AM) I'm sorry, but that is kind of a ridiculous statement. He mentions in the next sentence that we would also have 5 good starters (something we didn't have in '04). Are you telling me you wouldn't want one of the best offenses in baseball? Especially when you are backing it up with a great rotation? We already have one of the best offenses. There won't be any trades for offense unless the rotation rights itself and the bullpen becomes more consistent. Tejada would be an awesome edition, but what good is he if pitchers can't hold leads.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) AJ at .186. EDIT: Now that I think of it, AJ is getting a huge pass by everyone here because his overall average is good. But when you get down to it his numbers are worse than Uribe's when it matters most. I guess if you hit a bunch of meaningless singles and doubles with the bases empty you get a free pass. I love AJ but he makes just as many 1st pitch outs as Uribe and he has hit worse with RISP. AJ is hitting the weakest .326 I've ever seen. What really pisses me off about AJ and Uribe is that they come up with guys on base and make outs, then BA ends the inning and all the blame focuses on him. If these guys got the job done, Anderson's offense would just be a minor annoyance.
