As far as I can tell, this hasn't been picked up by any news organization. Which seems odd.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Feb 9, 2018 -> 04:14 PM) I honestly don't get why areas that get heavy tourism dollars aren't more acceptable to dropping a "tourism tax" Dollar or two on a room...or rental car. Can't believe San Diego didn't do that to keep the Chargers. For some reason I think some Maricopa County judge shot down the "tourism tax" after it had been in affect for a while...and said they had to refund money from the car rental/room tax. Said it was "unconstitutional". Not sure how you can randomly describe that particular tax as unconstitutional and not others. I never did get an answer to that. It’s a state constitution and statute issue related to the use of funds from taxing vehicles. It’s not something generally applicable in the country.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 3, 2018 -> 09:22 AM) So I caved and got an apple watch. I was researching hard for something that I could use for my tri training and it really checked the most boxes. Thats funny, my wife just bought me one for my birthday, even though I really didn’t want one. A few days later, I’m kind of addicted to it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 02:50 PM) Again, if this judge opens a window to some sort of appeals process because of ego, that would be the absolutely worst possible thing that could happen. I think it’s a judicial ethics issue, not a legally appealable issue unless the sentience is somehow outside the bounds of law.

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jan 31, 2018 -> 11:53 PM) https://twitter.com/TheRickWilson/status/958922071970545666 IC source who has been a ghost for over a year signals: "s*** is about to get real." OK. AND? He’s been posting that type of stuff since the day Trump was elected.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 30, 2018 -> 05:12 PM) Start out with the T25 workouts. They're more doable and shorter for those who haven't worked out in a while. I did T25 a few years ago and got a little bored. Probably would fit the bill though.

Ponied up for Beachbody On Demand. After our second kid we’re trying to get back in shape. Second round of P90x3 for me, but it’s tough given how tired I am without working out. I’d love to do something less intense but the results are tough to dispute. If anyone has suggestions, I’d love to hear. It’s a good service, by the way. Not working on our Fire Tv for some reason but nice to have on the IPad.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 29, 2018 -> 06:21 PM) Always got to play that “white man” card. What would you say to the millions of white people who aren’t offended by Notre Dame’s nickname? I’m all for this logo getting scrapped because of its racist undertones, but please stop playing the “white man” card anytime someone isn’t outraged by something. I’m sure there are plenty of other people of varying races & genders who gives two s***s about this logo. If a British team used the fighting Irish, I think the Irish would be offended.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 18, 2018 -> 05:53 PM) So how does Sling TV work? You just cast it to chromecast or firestick onto your TV? Is it something that a smart TV can access without those? I know nothing about Sling. You've peaked my interest. Sling used to kinda suck a couple of years ago, but it's pretty good now. We started with fire sticks, but I strongly recommend getting the new Fire TV, which is almost as small and is much more powerful. We have 2 firesticks, and just got the Fire TV for our main TV. The difference in speed is remarkable (part of that is the sticks are over a year old). Sling is a downloadable application for the fire tv/stick so you don't have to cast it.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 01:41 PM) Original, pre-Lucas editing copies? They edited the actual original film for the special editions. My understanding is that there are no copies of the original film. Although I guess they could just digitally remove all the new stuff.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 5, 2017 -> 02:11 PM) http://www.cnn.com/2017/12/04/politics/pet...omey/index.html Lead investigator Peter Stzrok changed the verbiage of Comey's description of HRC's mishandling of classified information. I've read this story and can't figure out why the part about the changed verbiage matters. If they determined that there was no criminal wrong doing, then saying she was "grossly negligent" is wrong.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 5, 2017 -> 03:20 PM) WaPo: A special counsel needs to investigate the FBI and Justice Department. Now. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/a-s...m=.0d8cbe887fca Investigate the investigators while the investigation is on-going. Right.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2017 -> 02:34 PM) I think the simple version of it is...if the President is obstructing justice, tell me what he did that he is obstructing. In the Clinton 98 case, he did not commit an underlying crime. He lied to cover up a relationship that, while inappropriate, was still 2 consenting, legal adults. Follow that standard - tell me what the underlying crime is that the President himself did. If he just wanted to protect Flynn because they're both white supremacists and if you want to beat up enough muslims you need good people to do it...that's not an impeachable offense to my eyes. If he wanted to protect Flynn because Flynn was one of his co-conspirators in a crime that he had knowledge of during its commission and then used to great effect in the campaign...that's a fundamentally different setup because he's also a conspirator. In this case, Flynn had already lied to the FBI, which is itself a crime, and Trump then told Comey to drop the investigation (when Trump apparently knew about the crime). Is that not enough? Anyway, this is crazy. According to you, the president can fire the head of the FBI, or commit any other act of obstruction in order to prevent the investigation of crimes commitment by anyone except himself. This is what autocrats do, and you have no problem with it. And what if there is highly classified evidence that would show collusion but it isn't admissible in court, or the intelligence community doesn't want to reveal its sources? Trump should be allowed to remain as president because the provable offense isn't enough?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2017 -> 01:28 PM) I think it's constitutionally questionable enough of a case - the president has the authority to fire the FBI director for so many reasons that "asking him to shut down an investigation" isn't a strong enough event to reach High Crimes and Misdemeanors. He has the authority to fire people who serve at his pleasure, and unless we rewrite the laws, the law isn't clear on this. If Congress wanted to protect the FBI director, they could have made it a crime to fire the FBI director, and they haven't done so. It's the same standard I would have held Clinton to regarding obstruction - it's seriously questionable that the President has to answer those questions when serving as the President, the Supreme Court has never settled much of this, and that firing I'm not sure reaches the level to me. Prove to me that he conspired with a foreign power to commit a crime on US Soil in order to win his election. That's a fundamental crime against the American system. A politician using his authority to stop an investigation to protect his friends and family is also against the American system.

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 04:04 PM) Okay so the fact that he is even being offered such a lesser charge against him proves that whatever he can give Mueller must be f***ing juicy otherwise he would have been in jail for the rest of his life. The fact that he had to plea guilty to anything means there were very bad charges. The level of cooperation is also telling. If the potential crimes were small, he wouldn't be facing jail time in exchange for cooperation.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 03:21 PM) Trump's come out in favor of Roy Moore: "We don't need a liberal Democrat in that seat" "Roy Moore denies it--that's all I can say" So that is truly the WH line. If the accused denies, then it didn't happen. Protecting the status quo, which is all Trump has to protect himself.

Not sure Girardi is a guy you need to go out and get, but he just managed a rebuilding team in New York to within 1 game of the WS, and the Sox are a rebuilding team with a lot of talent. And he's probably better than Renteria at least.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 11:21 AM) I have. It is as good as anything. Honda has the AWD that kicks in with a slide or spinning tires and it does the job. That's traction control. Good to know. Do you use all seasons or switch out for winter tires?

QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) We were looking at the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna, but after reviewing Consumer Reports Auto Car Buying Guide, it looks like we now more focused on the Sienna. Due to our budget, we are kinda stuck looking at models between 2013 and 2015, probably with the LE trim. We considered other brands, but we like the reliability of Toyota/Honda. Ha! I'm in the exact same boat. Same two cars too. We are leaning Sienna because of the AWD, but they are very expensive new, and used are hard to come by. Meanwhile, good tires on a FWD are probably fine. I don't know if anyone here has driven an Odyssey or Sienna in the snow.

QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 23, 2017 -> 06:36 PM) They're supposed to be socially liberal and fiscally conservative. Yeah but they hold extreme views on both accounts.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ May 17, 2017 -> 11:33 AM) Well, technically it IS hearsay (an out of court statement being used to prove the matter asserted), but it would still be allowed as it falls under at least one of the exceptions to admitting hearsay evidence - party admissions. It's a note about what Trump said directly to Comey. edit: "it" being Trump's statement that Comey noted in his memo. I'm not a trial attorney, but I think the memo really would be used to rehabilitate Comey following cross examination. Further bolstered by contemporaneous statements to senior FBI agents that the memo existed immediately after the meeting in question. It makes Comey's testimony unimpeachable. The only person who was present to refute the account is Trump himself who would have the greatest motivation to lie, and his reputation for veracity would be attacked to no end.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 10, 2017 -> 08:39 AM) So - what can actually be done other than b****ing and moaning about everything? At some point, who can step in? No one. Well I'm not an expert on these matters, but we know that the case is already in the hands of a grand jury (at least one) which has issued subpoenas. That means a case, with facts and evidence, is being presented by lawyers in the US Attorney's Office. This is not just an FBI investigation anymore. Trump and the Republicans can't control what's about to happen. Comey saw to that. Any Republican still covering for Trump is probably implicated, since i have no other explanation for their actions. I seriously think the number of people who know the facts is getting too big to ever control. Then there are the rumors that sealed indictments have already been issued. We will see about that.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 10:40 PM) This s*** is just emotionally exhausting. I mean I'm 29 - he was 63. I realize that's not out of the ordinary or anything. He wasn't old but people die at that age as well. This is the first time I've been hit with an unexpected death close to me though, and it makes you wonder how people deal with it, especially people with even less resources, even less prepared for it. I've realized how lucky I am to have the support system I do around me, especially at work, but, you know, it still sucks. I lost my best friend and my father. I'd give this a 0/10. Would not recommend. I lost my mom 11 years ago last week. I was 23, she was 54 so pretty similar. You never really get over it. I remember feeling like I was thrown into the middle of the ocean and no idea what to do. Like most crappy things in life, it just becomes a new normal. Then there's the holidays or major life events where they aren't around and it sucks all over again. But you get used to that too. Anyway, I'm sorry. It's about as crappy as life can get.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 09:55 PM) Yes the team that was top seed in the west needs a full rebuild. Ok. Not really what I said. They need young defense. And I said the organization is too good to be bad for long. Regardless, they just got their asses kicked by an 8 seed so your confidence in being the top seed is as some predictor of future success is nonsensical.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 09:29 PM) I fear that this is officially the end. Too bad. It's the end for this group. Hawks have to find defense prospects and rebuild. The organization is too good to be bad for long.
