Passive thinking isnt going to get you anywhere. Look at Almonte right now. He is the perfect example of a future stud who crashed and burned. These guys arent s*** unless theyve proven something on the major league level. Keep your TOP prospects, and if you can get something for the 2nd level prospects, and its going to help you win, you go for it. I have to praise KW. Exactly BMR

You make a good point. But right now both are playing well and deserve to be starting. The only way I make a trade for a CF is if we can get someone that is better than them 2. And as of now I don't see anyone out there.
-
I say keep harris and Rowand out there.

Espn Radio reports Alomar is traded to Sox
Joel replied to suffering-nomore-sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I have been saying this since I 1st heard that he could come the Chicago. It not only improves the defense at 2nd but could also improve the defense at CF and left. If we move Harris to CF and Rowand LF and Lee to DH. -

Why would you want Benetiz when we already have a younger and better pitcher in Koch. -
For it. Almonte hasn't done anything, never heard of Salvo, and while Ring is doing well right now he is a Relief pitcher who hasn't proved anything in the majors

Koch is still very young. He can't be older than 28. Plus Wright has the stuff to be a great closer. Also if Almonte was any good he would have been up here 2 to 3 years ago. -

Still he improves our defense and leadoff postion. I think with his brother and out of the New York spotlight he will be a much better player. -

No mater what we were going to give up one of our good pitchers. So I don't know why you are complaining. Do you want to hang on to a guy who is in the minors and hasn't showed anything in the majors. Or do you want to get a Hall Famer at a postion of need. I say #2. Plus be happy KW just traded away 2 minor league Relievers not even staters but relievers. And IMO Ring wasn't any better than Marte and he is already in the majors proving him self. -

Release Rios, he is worthless right now. -

I think right now the person who gets squeezed is Daubach not Rowand. You can't take Rowand's bat out of the lineup. Plus putting him in LF, Harris in CF, and Lee at DH improves our defense even more. -

It depends we have 5 and half hours till game time he can get on a plane in 2 to 3 hours and still get to Chicago bye 8:00Eastern. I know this probaly won't happen but you never know. -

Even though I would hate to see it, Gammons also reported that the Yanks also wanted Cotts and we were tring to get Weaver. I'm with you this is one trade I don't want to see. -

this is great news. It improves both our defense and the top of our lineup. Now this could allow Harris to move down in the order and take some of the pressure off him. Now the question is do we move Harris back to CF, move Rowand to LF, and move Lee to DH. Rowand has been hitting well lately so you don't want to move him out of the lineup. -
Thats what I have been thinking also Yasny. Yes Cotts has pitched very well at AA but he hasn't proved a thing in the majors or even AAA yet. So to me it would suck if we lost out on a trade because we didn't want to trade a AA pitcher who has proved nothing in the Majors. Especially when we could get 1 of the best 2nd baseman of all time. Who would not only improve our top of the lineup, but also our up the middle defense.

Gammons has said that the Mets will pick up ALL of his salary and thats why both the Expos and the Royals are in it along with us. I'm sorry to tell you this fans but it looks like Cotts won't be here bye the end of the week. It seems that his name has come up in talks for both Alomar and Weaver and if we trade for either one Cotts will be the one going to the other team. I like Cotts but this is the nature of the game. You have to give something to get something. I don't think the Mets would ever take a trade of Rios, DJ, and a propest for Alomar, because well they aren't getting thing back to help them except for maybe DJ. I think the best deal for us would be DJ and Rauch for Alomar. But as of last night it looks like it will be Cotts for Alomar.
-
Maybe there is a 3 way trade going on. With the Sox, Yanks, and Mets. Sox get Alomar Prospect from the Yanks or Mets Mets get Cotts Weaver Yanks get Jermey Burnitz. I haven't seen this suggested anywhere just something I have thought of. But it works for all 3 teams. Sox get Alomar to sure up thier defense and leadoff postion, plus a prospect. Mets get 2 young pitchers to help thier rebuilding. And the Yanks get a power hitting LF to sure up thier weakest postion since 1995. I know it would be hard to imagine the Yanks and Mets doing a deal together but you never know.

No, actualy I live in Richmond Va. The reason I asked was because I didn't realize that there were that many major leaguers from Canda. I knew about koskie and Larry walker but not the other ones.
-
you have a great point there. I hope he is wrong on Weaver and right on Alomar. I hope to god he is, the only player I want added to the Sox is Castillo. Than again I wouldn't mind Alomar. We better not give up Cotts for him though. CWSOX45 Well I don't think we will be able to Castillo till atleast the trade deadline because of the way the Marlins are playing right now. (They are either .500 or a game above or below .500.) and that may be to late. Alomar will help us right now. I just don't like not making a trade because you don't want to trade a minor leaguer who hasn't proved anything in the majors. Especially a pitcher who has a bigger chance of an serious injury than a postion player. And it would really suck if the Royals were able to come up with him, and then with them he goes on to hit .300 and leads them to the playoffs.
-
If Robbie goes to the Royals......i'd be shocked...thats alot of payroll to add to KC's financially strapped situation. Peter said that the Mets would pay his full salary. So the Royals wouldn't have to pay anything.
-

-
Just a question Kip, who is your faverite and who do you think will be the best.
-
Again I agree with you on Weaver. All 5 of our starts are pitching better than him right now, so it really makes no since.
-
I agree with you on Weaver. I don't understand why KW even wants him. Because right now we do have 5 good starters who are all pitching better than Weaver right now. Also we have a lot of young pitchers who could come up and start for us if we needed them to. But on Alomar I disagree I think he would be a huge addition to the team. Even if he doesn't hit but .260 he will still be a major upgrade at 2nd and would help the pitchers out tremendusly with his defense. Also he is a guy who could take over the leadoff duties from harris and let him move down to the 9th spot where he won't have as much pressure on him. On Cotts I agree he is a good pitcher but you have to give something to get something. That deal with the Expos was an rare occasion. And we did have to give up Biddle who has 20 plus saves.
