Thread for Club Seat group: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=53855 Check it out.

QUOTE(valponick @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) I have been looking to get in on a club-level package myself. I wanted to do 4-seats as well. My wife and I would definitely be interested in this if you are actively looking for more people. Sounds to me like we have a little group building already. I think I'll go start a thread in Ticket Exchange.

Nagin criticizes World Trade Center rebuilding
NorthSideSox72 replied to Steff's topic in The Filibuster
And I have to say, I find it bizarre and kind of sad that property values and housing costs are indeed so high in New Orleans. Price and value should be influenced by demand. You'd have to be pretty stupid to "demand" to have a house in a city that sits on a hurricane-prone below-sea level flood plain, and which has some of the highest crimes rates and worst schools in the country. -
QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 11:03 AM) The best part is not waiting in bathroom lines...oh, and the food. Oh and the view. oh and the full bar....well, I guess everything is the best part. I think 8 people is too many...I think you're asking for problems with a group that large. I think you should stick with the same number of people, as seats. That way, say there is a game 5 of the Division Series...you just say, ok, everyone gets their one seat. Eh, 8 isn't bad, as long as you set the guidelines ahead of time. Thats the key. You just say, OK, there are 2 groups of four, that get alternating games. Group 1 gets first postseason game, group 2 gets game 2, group 1 gets game 3... you get a seat at every other game. 4 people in 4 seats would be great, but... I really don't want to shell out 6k for my wife and I for those 2 seats.

I don't see how we can worry about that series until around mid-September. Too much baseball left between now and then.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:14 AM) Totally. Its all about being fair. You cant always have everything. I really want to split some club levels with someone soon. I really have fallen for those seats. I've been thinking of going to the clubs next season as well - looking to get a group together (some from my current 27-game group, some new). Hard part is, I want to do 4 seats. I figure 8 people is ideal for that. Do a draft type thing for the regular season games for each of the 8 people, and set the rules for post-season (group A/group B sort of thing).

GOP candidate says 9/11 attacks were a hoax

QUOTE(IggyD @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) GOP candidate says 9/11 attacks were a hoax By ALBERT McKEON, Telegraph Staff [email protected] Published: Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006 But she implicated the government by saying the Sept. 11 attacks were meant to soften us up . . . to make us more willing to have more stringent laws here, which are totally against the Bill of Rights . . . to make us particularly focus on Arabs and Muslims . . . and those strange persons who spend all their time creating little bombs, giving Americans a reason to hate them and fear them and, therefore, bomb them in Iraq for other reasons. This has to be the most embarrasingly badly written paragraph that I have ever seen published in a newspaper. Is this author a 6th grader or something? It's not a direct quote... its the author's writing. What kind of grammar is that? -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 10:40 AM) I think we know Ozzie well enough to know that if Thome is sitting for a full game, Gload will play 1b and Konerko will DH most of the time...it gives Gload extra time in the field (which is usually not a bad thing) but more importantly it lets Konerko rest up his legs, which is a very good thing for him. That is a good point, and true, about Gload at first and PK at DH. Today's lineup reflects it.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 10:06 AM) Ozuna 7 Iguchi 4 Dye 9 Konerko DH Crede 5 AJP 2 Uribe 6 Gload 3 Anderson 8 I'm actually pretty OK with that lineup, since Thome can't play. Glad to see Dye at #3.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 11:51 AM) Half a Chicken meal from Chicken Planet, and I will steal Soxy's line and fine this an acceptable lunch wait wait wait... There is a place called Chicken Planet?

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 09:55 AM) If Chicago politicians completely had their way, the city would be the freaking USSR. It's pretty sad and a warning about what happens when a political system lacks balance and differences of opinion. Sort of like the current US administration, only on the opposite end of the spectrum.

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 09:22 AM) Ross Gload is undoubtedly the most overrated Sox player by people on this board. I think that is because he had one good short stretch in the majors a few years ago. Since then, he hasn't played enough to show how much of a AAA player he really is. IF Thome goes on the DL, I think the Gload lovefest is going to take a major hit. Somehow people will be shocked that he hits .280/.320/.400. How is that a spark? Hmmm... In the two seasons where he has played 50+ games, he has hit .321/.375/.479 and .295/.327/.400. He has a little speed, plays decent to above-average defense at 1B (OF aside for the moment), hustles every time, and is probably a 15-20 HR guy if playing a full season. Like RockRaines said recently, he is Shawn Casey with a little more speed. Is he Jim Thome? Of course not. But I'll take the .300/.330/.410 he'll give if he plays regularly, as about as good a bench replacement as anyone in the league has for 1B/DH. And BTW, even if its just .280/.320/.400, thats better than we are getting out of at least 3 guys in our lineup right now.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 09:21 AM) Is it the loss of bodily functions that make it no fun, the understanding that the person is dead, or the stress of knowing you're the person's last chance? The stress of last chance isn't the big deal. I mean... if you're doing CPR on someone, they're dead already. Anything you do to give them a chance of coming back is an unexpected (and odds-against) bonus. No, the stress is otherwise. There are some aspects I'd prefer not to detail here. But at least for me, when my focus wandered off the task at hand, I kept listening to the people around me. This is particularly stressful if the ones around are the victim's loved ones.

1994: Completed EMT-A (now called EMT-B), Iowa 1995: Added Auto-D Adjunct, now EMT-D, Iowa 1996: Certified ARC CPR and First Aid Instructor 1996: Transfer EMT licensure to Colorado 1996-1998: Served as Division Medical Officer for law enforcement patrol unit 1998: Transfer EMT licensure to Illinois 1999: Completed Wilderness EMT Adjunct I'm pretty confident. CPR, by the way, is no fun at all.

Bring on the G-Load, Ozzie. Mack LF (OK, so it will be Pods really, but a man can dream) Iguchi 2B Dye RF PK 1B AJ C Gload DH Crede 3B Anderson CF Uribe SS I think that will do just fine for a few days, until Thome returns.

Does this sound like a 'professional'?

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:59 AM) I know that. Most of them are in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. There are a "few" in Beirut - but they're busy with what's happening locally. US News resources in the Middle East are much fewer than you'd think. Did you know that only CNN had an active Baghdad journalist team during the Iraqi invasion in 2003, and they were expelled two days into the war? Thats because the people who became the first wave of Baghdad reporters came in as embedded. In essence, they came in with a military escort, and then stayed. -
This is just so eerie for me. This dude sounds JUST like the guy we arrested... but its not him. Looks nothing like him. But that weird obsession with the case, sex crime allegations in California, followed the case closely, etc. Just too weird. But I am not sure what to make of that. First, it tells me there is still a good chance that this Karr character didn't do it - he is just a whacko who studied the case. Evidence so far convinces me even more. But another thing comes to mind... how many people out there are there that are like this? If I've learned of two, there must be more. Just freaky stuff.

White Sox @ Tigers, 7:05pm CT

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) And here we go. If we lose this game, that Pods AB is going to be the turning point. Pods might be faster, but when you include hustle, I think Mackowiak, Gload, and Cintron get down the line faster than him. I think Mack is slower, but only by a hair. Ozuna is faster than Pods. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) I'm convinced that Mackowiak and Gload are faster than him. I said Mack had SIMILAR speed to Pods earlier today, and was mocked. -

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 06:20 PM) Actually the Beirut bureaus are busy with Lebanon. This is happening in Gaza. We kinda forgot about that mess in general. And besides, who wants to hear about missing journalists when the Jon Benet suspected farted in business class on his flight to LA? Most US news outlets don't have bureaus or offices in the Gaza. Its Beirut, or somewhere in Israel, or Jordan. -
Oh goodie. Now Syria is getting all snarky... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060823/ap_on_...non_israel_1266 "Hey... hey... we're scary too!!!"

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) He won't get picked off as much as Podsednik either, I will guarantee you that. Serious McCarthy is so tall he can take a four step lead and still have his left leg on first.

QUOTE(BoKnows @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) I am sure I will get shot here for saying this, but Rowand should not of been going after that ball like he did. Yeah, he's a grinder, yeah, he gives it his all, but that was Utley's ball and he was there easy. Rowand even slowed down for the ball after utley called it, then decided to go back in for it. Don't get me wrong, I love ARow's hustle. He is a true old school balls out player and I respect him for that, but he broke his ankle on that play and nearly hurt the teams best player in doing so. I thought they both called for it, and that ball always belongs to the outfielder anyway. He got hurt doing exactly what he is supposed to do.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) I'm 100 pct sure it was sarcasm. FREE GLOAD! I hadn't realized Milkman was among the previous posters I referred to in general. That makes sense. Free Gload indeed! Release the G-Load!!!! QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 02:09 PM) Macowiak is not an everyday player on a good team, much less a leadoff hitter. He's basically this year's version of Pods without the elite speed. He's a career .262 hitter with a .333 OBP, and only has 45 stolen bases in 6 years. I don't know how you can say he has similar speed. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 02:09 PM) First off, I don't see the "Similar speed". Even in Podsednik's now weakened state, I think that Goes to Scott by quite a bit. Speed and SB's are not necessarily the same. And yeah, Pods is faster, but Mack is probably the 3rd fastest guy on the team. And Pods has been awful stealing this year anyway. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 02:09 PM) 3rd, Rob is just terrible against lefties, so you still wind up with him as a platoon player with Pablo. Sounds better than Pods to me.
