  1. He seems to have his eyes set on being the President of an organization versus a GM.
  2. The dirty tricks campaign that worked in 2016 is utterly failing in 2020. Even if it were actually true, because it is a Trump product, 2/3 of the country won't believe it.
  3. For what? More business loans?
  4. I think there are a fair amount of scared Republicans who also want Trump to lose. They can't say it out loud for fear of having the Trump Cult aimed at them, but they are there.
  5. I will put it this way, I would rather it be Ozzie than Tony.
  6. Like it ever goes out of season. Rookie.
  7. Plus they are also older and have way more experience at higher levels of baseball, and more success at those higher levels.
  8. If the Sox are serious about TLR, there is no better statement that Rick Hahn isn't getting what he wants. NOTHING about Tony fits with what RHs wishlist was just a few short weeks ago.
  9. Going with feelings over odds repeatedly is the quickest way to fund that casino expansion.
  10. If JR told Hahn its TLR, then he is hiring TLR. That's what being a middle manager is.
  11. Obviously this is taken to the usual extreme, but I don't think JR makes every decision, but at the same time if he tells Rick to take TLR seriously as a candidate or flat out tells him to hire Tony, is he going to say no? Does he really want to opt for unemployment when pretty much every front office is on the chopping block?
  12. A lot you all have never worked in management, and it shows. Hahn may be A boss, but he isn't THE boss.
  13. Everyone's ratings were down this much this fall. It was the pandemic. The guy I am responding to seems to believe... And NBA ratings for the finals were down just as much as the MLB's were. NHL was down 67% YoY. Pretty sure JR didn't ruin MLB, NHL, and MLB all the same amounts. Dude needs to quit letting JR live in his head rent free.
  14. Let's be honest here. If you are worried about Hunter Biden and his foreign entanglements, there is no chance you can vote for the President then.
  15. Now what did I do with that surprised reaction?
  16. I think with the financial losses the teams are looking at, cost controlled players will see expensive prices on the trade market. I think prospects will also be worth more than usual. It will be the guys with bigger and/or longer term contracts that will give the best bargains this winter on the trade market. If the Sox are willing to take on dollars, this could be a big winter for them. I do hope with their low payroll, they will try to add, though obviously not nearly as much as they would have under normal circumstances. Maybe taking on a Max Scherzer from Washington? Is Jake Arrieta done? Maybe a Ryu from the Jays? Eovaldi from Boston? Not sure what teams need to cut the most matches up with what pitchers could be moved, but those are some off of the top of my head ideas.
  17. The bolded is the key. I am OK with someone saying that they want to bet on Nomar's potential at the right price. Granted that price is probably something like a million or two with no job promise coming into 2021, but that is an OK scenario for me. But if you are argument is that is a good player already? Nah. Can't do it. Nothing supports that as of today.
  18. To recap: Nomar Mazara is a good RF No But his batting average is .275 It isn't But he hits a lot of homers Not particularly He plays good defense for a RF HIs dWAR is terrible But he gets lot of assists Leury Garcia had more in a partial season He hits a lot of homers if you only look at the years he didn't suck Still no He hits a lot of homers if you leave out his bad year, and eliminate half of the RFs in baseball Uh, still no But he had a good OPS one year, or maybe it was another year Uh, not if you compare him to other similar players
  19. The idea of trading Grandal really is a non-starter this winter. The idea of trading Vaughn for a pitcher makes a LOT more sense, as teams will be way more in the market to dump salaries and take on cheap cost controlled talent versus an $18 million per year catcher still owed for 3 more years.
