  1. These deals are agreed to in advance, unlike free agency.
  2. They would be breaking existing agreements for a chance at the other guy. That means they would be burning bridges for future signings with the same buscandos for future players. That isn't going to happen.
  3. It means we have spent about $2.5 million, tops.
  4. If they still have $2.5 million free, that means they have done an awful job of targeting the Latin American market the last two years.
  5. You are the one making an awful equivalency between Machado and Jimenez and actually citing product for a player yet to make his debut as a qualifier. This is a complete failure of a comparison. Especially since we know extension talks have gone on since November.
  6. Which means we haven't done a damned thing in a market we have had two years to focus on.
  7. By your logic we should never call up a rookie.
  8. Lol, I think you just fielded that joke like Palka in RF.
  9. Everyone sucked except for Ozzie. He was dreamy.
  10. Yeah closers and starters tend to be overvalued at the deadline. Especially with only having one trade deadline this year, it will be really interesting to see what trade values look like this time around.
  11. Unless that offer was out there pre-free agency, it is irrelevant.
  12. And they still tried to retain him.
  13. I disagree for the clear reason that the Cubs could have had Colome for something more than Omar Narvaez if they really wanted him. They didn't do it.
  14. Last I heard, we play the Dbacks twice in Phoenix, and then go north for the opener.
  15. He also isn't worth 5 years of Ian Happ.
  16. I said the Cubs aren't giving away Happ on the last page, and this is a great way of saying exactly that again. Our trash isn't going to be enough to get him.
  17. This is exactly how I feel about it.
  18. Ian Happ is going to be worth more than a second to third tier closer getting paid fairly close to fair value who is sitting two seasons from free agency. It is one thing when you are talking about Narvaez, but Ian Happ for five years is a much different story.
