  1. It is an odd comparison, but it reminds me of an ISIS execution. For a long period of time they bring the prisoner out and enact their execution on a regular basis. Over and over they go through the steps only to stop right before it happens. Eventually the prisoner gets used to it and doesn't panic or breakdown when it is done, thinking that it is just another fake. Then one day when they don't expect it, it happens. Putting together the reports with how the White Sox reacted to the actual last offer, the Sox really didn't believe that this was the end... except it was.
  2. There was talk all winter of Yoan playing 3B. There was a thread about it.
  3. From the way the Sox reacted it seemed like it probably wasn't the first time that Lozano came back to them. Their reaction wasn't of panic, it was to call their bluff. You usually don't call bluff on the first call back.
  4. Looking at the trade and free agent markets, Abreu has negative trade value. Similar players are worthless.
  5. I know that no one wants to hear this now, but I also haven't seen this said before.
  6. I hadn't said a whole lot, but when someone who has been completely wrong this entire process decided to call me out by name, I am going to respond.
  7. It's funny you say that, but I am the one person who has been right about this process at every single step of the way. All I heard two years ago were how to loyal Sox fans were, how all they wanted was a direction, and that they wouldn't abandon the team any more than they already had. Even before they came in 2nd on Machado (like I spent months before this off season saying they would) and the outrage machine kicked into high gear in the last few days, the team was down HUGE in the last two years after doing exactly what they supposedly wanted done. This is the same franchise it has always been. A lot of people spent a lot of time convincing themselves that it was now different, despite all of the franchise history to look at. People are mad because they fell for it. I spent years telling you all this wasn't going to be the Cubs rebuild, but no one wanted to hear it. Get out of your feels for a while and pay attention.
  8. On the bright side, John Jay will now be an as all-star.
  9. You said the end of April or early May. That was your artificial deadline.
  10. No one cuts players in April, nor do any real trades happen. Get past your feels a bit and come back to reality.
  11. There is zero chance either player goes anywhere until at least June.
  12. I will say that I am mildly surprised that the Harper rumors have been dead silent. I figured once Machado agreed Harper would fall in quickly. Here we are 3 days later and there isn't even a rumor of anything.
  13. With the pitchers they have now it is one of two things. They aren't aren't ready, or they never will be ready. I'd rather see Covey start, but the reality is that when you are looking at this rotation, we aren't going to see the same five guys all year long. Guys are going to suck, get hurt, etc. Covey will get his chances, as with Banuelos, and pretty much any of the other people getting pushed down by Santana. Obviously no one thinks a bit of Stephens or Guerrero. If the Sox did, they would have been on the 40 man roster. If anyone else did, they would have picked them in the Rule 5 draft. When you start looking at it on a granular level, there isn't anyone of consequence to really worry about.
  14. And if he proves he can't get through spring training, it is a minor league deal and you cut him before the season starts.
  15. Jaime Navarro laughs in your general direction, and then wonders why you didn't score him 10 runs to cover the 9 he gave up.
