  1. There are tons of who would love to own the team. The problem is the one person who needs to approve a sale hasn't even dropped a hint at it happening.
  2. And no team was coming up with $300 million without being on him from the beginning.
  3. Obviously stop doing the things you do best, start doing the things you do worst, but only half way, and then come in second for top free agents. This is a great formula.
  4. In the second we are asking them to do the one thing they have proven most of all they can't do, which is develop young talent.
  5. I have always said the if you truly believe that this management team is the worst in baseball at developing young talent, the dumbest possible thing would be to stake the future of the franchise on it, especially when we know the Sox will have more spending limitations than others. So far, this has been proven out.
  6. Mark Cuban will never be sold the White Sox by a Reinsdorf. https://sportsday.dallasnews.com/dallas-mavericks/mavericks/2017/09/27/remember-mark-cuban-jim-crane-nearly-bought-rangers-thought-cuban-recalls https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-2007-04-03-0704030231-story.html
  7. My biggest fear is that we were going to enter a neverending cycle of rebuilding. So far I have seen nothing to show me that this isn't going to happen.
  8. This is exactly what people were excited by two years ago.
  9. Because what Soxtalk needs now is Twitter's hot takes.
  10. I think my two favorite moments in all of this are that no team was going to enter late and bid hundreds of millions of dollars for Machado, and Mr. Burner Account telling us that we were going to sign not one whale, but both. What a monumental failure of an off season. How did they not hear every question this off season be about Machado? And every single insider struck out this winter with our front office.
  11. Their actions speak differently. They also have one more chance this year to prove it, but they won't.
  12. Six months ago 10/300 was the assumed starting point. Unless the Sox knew his market was going to be depressed ahead of time, which is why they were in, the idea that they refused to bid that, doesn't make any sense.
  13. It is impossible to combine this with the idea that we had interest in signing both.
  14. I said it in another place, but the Phillies have also struck out on both Corbin and Machado after making their "stupid money" comment coming into this winter. It will be interesting to see who panics first, though I believe it will be Philly, but quietly hoping it is Jerry.
  15. Signing Harper is the one way to redeem this off season. Hopefully the front office isn't just sitting in an echo chamber today, and realizes that this is a PR disaster for them. Second, Scott Boras has to be grinning like the Cheshire Cat. The greatest possible thing to happen was for a team other than Philly or the White Sox to win the Machado sweepstakes. Now he has two what should be desperate teams in the final bidding for his biggest product.
  16. It is a tough call. They walked away from Corbin. They walked away from Machado. Does that make it easier or harder to walk away from Harper. That probably depends on if the White Sox panic, or stick to their guns.
  17. This is the least surprising part of it all. That access is too important to burn.
  18. You know, this could be nearly as important of a signing to the Phillies as the Sox. They not only went into the off season talking about signing these guys, but they have the "stupid money" quote hanging over their off season. I wonder if the Sox will step up, but I feel like the Phillies have a lot more to lose.
  19. They have said all the right things, but they still can't win the big one.
