  1. He's also said he wants to play for the White Sox for the rest of his career.
  2. I think a lot of people underestimate how important it is for players to not only have good coaching from the staff, but to have people off of the staff that also show leadership. The best organizations are self-taught and self-disciplined. Jose Abreu leading the way for the young players is going to have a much larger impact than anything the coaching staff has to say. Leading by example has a huge impact. Oh, and it also is really nice that Jose Abreu is a legitimate middle of the order bat who is extremely consistent from year to year.
  3. Thanks for sharing. It bears repeating that we have had a couple of very similar pitchers to Lucas in Jon Garland and Gavin Floyd. I know a decent amount of people have quit on him already, but with what Washington did to him, and then trying to rebuild both his motion and his confidence, it isn't going to be an overnight thing.
  4. I remember Quintero getting a mention out of spring training too. Was hoping to see him earlier, but it will be interesting to see what he does.
  5. You'd be wrong then. He has been playing the OF 100 games or more in only one of his minor league seasons. including his appearences this season, he has been in the OF in 311 games, and 1B for 188 defensively in the minors. Realistically he has been in the OF for about 60% of his games, and of those, he has been in RF 273, or a little over half of his games total. The only other really he played RF basically every day was 2016.
  6. Panicking is the dumbest thing you can do with Fulmer. Hell last year there were more than a few people who wanted to sent Covey back to Oakland, no questions asked.
  7. The crazy thing is that Palka has actually helped his D numbers a ton in the last month or so. He went from a UZR of - 54 to -36 now. Instead of costing a run every 3 games, it is down to about every 5. I guess you could call that progress, right?
  8. Not far. Boston would have picked him if Benitendi wasn't there, and other teams behind the Sox had interest too. Let's not give in to revisionism.
  9. No. There are guys like Soria available every single year. Hell we got him AND Avilian pretty much because we were willing to pay Soria.
  10. Avi is almost ready for a rehab assignment, while MiGo is about to start playing catch. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/dylan-covey-learned-a-lot-from-james-shields/c-280518226
  11. Was Vegas a fluke? Can Ovie defend a cup? Will the Hawks bounce back?
  12. Which is why you want him learning these things in the minors versus not trying to be aggressive until the majors.
  13. I wouldn't call not having the person in charge on board "a strong consensus".
