  1. Answer me this. Who was the last team to succeed in a rebuild by this method?
  2. How did we get from fans melting down about guys being rushed, to fans demanding that guys be rushed? Kopech is NOT a finished product, and even if he is called up this year, he will still not be a finished product. When he gets called up, we should all fully KNOW that he will have 6 walk 8 strikeouts in 4 innings kind of outings.
  3. Add the Tigers into that mix as well. While they got lucky to shed the Verlander and Fielder money, they still have to worry about Miguel's contract.
  4. Beck wasn't on the 40 anymore. He was dumped over the winter, pretty early on IIRC.
  5. And don't act like people are out of line for pointing out that this is what rebuilds look like.
  6. But they aren't. This is such an urban legend, but the numbers don't hold that up. Look no further than the annual business of baseball ranking as to the Sox annual revenue rankings versus the rest of baseball. Remember these rankings are taken in April, so really you are looking at the results for the previous season. Even at the peak of their rankings, they weren't a BIG boy. They are a middle sized fish at best. 2006- 14th 2007- 13th 2008- 12th 2009- 10th 2010- 10th 2011- 10th 2012- 10th 2013- 14th 2014- 16th 2015- 16th 2016- T-17th 2017- 18th 2018- 20th
  7. Why would people expect to have their opinions NOT generate replies on a public message board?
  8. With Danny already out for the forseeable future, this is awful timing.
  9. Hawk even said 2020 on opening day.
  10. I'd ask if you want to bet on this, but I know better than to fall for the old house bet.
  11. Based on?
  12. Yeah, the Twins basically worked the top picks to see who would give them the best deal, and then picked that player IIRC.
  13. I will either come with repetition or the next guy up will replace them. Unless you are Randy Johnson, that kind of walk rate isn't sustainable.
  14. Probably more like we originally thought of Leury. A track guy with zero power.
  15. He has great stuff. Once he learns to harness it a bit better, he is going to be a front line guy.
  16. Now that the process is in place, the absolute worst thing that the Sox can do is try rushing it. Both in terms of the big picture and individuals, they need to take the time that this affords them to grow and evaluate the players and the team. Let kids compete. Let kids get their ABs and IPs. Literally the only way this has a chance at working is if the Sox don't panic. Giolito, Lopez, and Fulmer need innings, and unless something drastic changes, they need them at the major league level. The hitters need their ABs and they need those repetitions to work on fundamentals at game speed. Practice and the minors will get you to a certain point, but eventually you have to learn on the job against the best in the world. As of April 23rd there is no reason to be sending guys down or cutting players. When the next group is ready to move up, there are guys on the roster who are expendable. It is not about winning 75 instead of 68 games this year. It is about what is essentially a mass internship for guys who are trying to break into the industry.
  17. This is just disgusting.
  18. Get over yourself. There is no expiration date on mourning and sorrow. No one gets to dictate to another human being how they should feel. There is a need here for professional help, but the problem isn't Anderson. The problem is people who think they own athletes and that they exist solely for their entertainment.
