  1. When do picks actually start getting made?
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 05:05 PM) I wouldn't be surprised if Angels looked for some impact player closest to majors like JB or another college pitcher. They seem like the team most likely to try to rush things.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 04:51 PM) I just remember the rage after sox passed on Porcello. Wacha was definitely in the group hate category.
  4. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 03:46 PM) Hahaha we all wish. To be fair I would expect a prospect like Robert to crush DSL pitching. Nice to see him taking a year off has not had too much of an impact though. We will all be disappointed if he does not see playing time in single A before the end of the season though. There are definite tax considerations at play here, and however long it takes for those to be effective is how long he will stay in the DR. There is a pretty decent chance that we structured our bid to give him that early playing time there to save him something like $4 million in taxes. To have gotten him $4 million more in a cash equivilant in the US, it would have taken a bid somewhere in the $32 to $33 million range depending on which state he was playing in when he got paid his bonus.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 03:35 PM) http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?g...ox&sid=milb Robert 1 for 2 with a walk. Not sure why he came out of the game late. It was his first game in like a year. Think of it as spring training where guys don't play full games until a couple of weeks into the spring.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 03:44 PM) Question....if you draft Hiura now, any chance he's healthy by May of next year if he gets TJS right away? The interview I read with him said that his doctors told him he doesn't need TJS.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 03:00 PM) The Sox should be covering 100% of the salary to get better pieces back. Their payroll is 50 cents for the next 3 years, they should be taking that opportunity to do what 'rich' teams do and eat salary to get better prospects back. With the White Sox writing a $50 million check this year for Luis Robert, I seriously doubt that is going to happen.
  8. Out of curiosity, does anyone out there have a feel for the Sox big board? What player would they take over all others, and so on down the line?
  9. Another tidbit from Law. Jim 3:45 Where would Luis Robert go in this draft class? Keith Law 3:45 Probably middle of the first round.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 02:25 PM) And just said he's had someone tell him the Sox like JB AJ3:23Hey Keith-- loved your appearance on OTL today. You have the White Sox taking JB Bukauskas over bats you've stated they're linked to like Jeren Kendall. Do they have a specific interest in Bukauskas from what you know? Do you think they'd take an under-slot HS OF like Adell or Beck over a college pitcher if available? Keith Law3:24If you look at my mock, those 27 pairings of team and player are all based on industry rumors. Someone told me the White Sox like Bukauskas. I can't say who, but I can tell you everything in there is based on what I considered solid intel.
  11. From todays KLaw chat Andy 3:17 Hi, Keith! Hope all is well with you and your family. Not sure if this chat is solely about tonight's mock, but I had a non-draft question for you. Have you had a chance to see Lucas Giolito over the past month or so? I've been lucky enough to catch most of his starts this year and he's never looked better than he has of late. He's confident in the curve and has this really neat changeup, too. Wanted to see if you've heard anything about him lately as the Sox unravel and piece back together his motion and mechanics. Keith Law 3:18 Haven't seen him but have talked to folks who have and am hearing just that - he's getting close to where he was before Mike Maddux etc. changed his delivery.
  12. Today's KLaw chat Jim - Chicago3:06Hi Keith- Bukauskas seems to give you less reservations than other similar "short" RHP draft prospects in recent years. Am I interpreting that correctly and, if so, is their something in his delivery that might eventually get him some plane on his fastball? Keith Law3:06No, I have the same reservations - lack of FB plane, doesn't use lower half in his delivery - but this class is weaker than most.

  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) His first hit/HR: https://www.instagram.com/p/BVP_yX2Bbhm/ Side observation, I wish pitchers in MLB worked that fast.
  19. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 10:10 AM) Frankie Piliere @FPiliereD1 14m Race for #1 pick is not over. #Twins giving serious late consideration to taking Royce Lewis. Down to the wire on him & McKay #MLBDraft SOunds like someone is really trying to get an underslot deal done by pitting the two kids against each other.
  20. Let's hear your predictions, who do the White Sox end up picking at #11 today?
  21. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 11:43 PM) I've watched Arrested Development many times, but I recently got my girlfriend to start watching it. We've been watching it together for the past few weeks, and man, that show is way funnier than I remember. A great re-watch option for sure. I rewatched about six months ago, and it got better with age.
  22. Don't look now, but Fraziers OPS this season is almost back to his career average.
  23. QUOTE (Tony @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 12:02 PM) I'm not arguing the value of Robertson to the Nats or Astros come October. The argument was about the value of Robertson to them on June 11. White Sox fans want him traded right now. While I understand that, my points still stand on why that might not be as easy as it seems right now. Because if you wait until July 31, someone can beat you to him. While it is early, teams are definitely now will to deal.
  24. QUOTE (Tony @ Jun 10, 2017 -> 10:57 PM) So take a team like the Astros. 44-19, with a 12.5 game lead in the division right now. Why would they pay "maximum value" for Robertson right now? What's the rush? If you were in the Astros front office, or even a fan for that matter, would be you beating down the door to pay maximum value for a RP on another team when you hold a 12.5 game lead? It's the same argument for the Nats, who hold a 10.5 game lead. I'm not saying Robertson won't be moved, and of course I want to see the Sox FO get as much as they can for him. But there are circumstances surrounding the deal that make it a little more complicated than "Robertson is pitching great, they need to move him ASAP for a GREAT package..." Because everyone starts at 0-0 in the playoffs, and teams that start with large leads don't usually fare as well as teams were challenged down the stretch. A lot of #1 seeds in baseball lose early.
  25. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jun 10, 2017 -> 10:55 PM) I'm excited that mods are going to be held to the same standard. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 10, 2017 -> 08:10 PM) I think you pretty well missed the point of the initial post. We don't want people making personal insults, which is exactly what this post is about.
