  1. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Dec 18, 2016 -> 09:15 PM) I like that Rogue One improves A New Hope by . Yes. I love how it connected the dots between the second trilogy and the first trilogy. Great reasoning and rationale.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 18, 2016 -> 01:32 PM) I didn't realize it was CGI at first. I figured it was recycled footage from the originals.
  3. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 17, 2016 -> 02:25 PM) Was reading some stuff on Reddit, and I saw multiple comments o , it's just fan service...." YOU REALIZE YOU ARE A FAN, RIGHT??? THEY ARE DOING IT FOR YOU. SHUT UP. The whole point of the movie was the cast advancing through the plot to get the plans to them. Why wouldn't they be in the movie at some point?
  4. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 02:28 PM) A source indicated the Pirates must dump salary even if they bring in an industry modest contract like Quintana's. Thus McCutchen $27Mil https://twitter.com/MLBBruceLevine/status/812394094869749760 Let's hear some more about how cheap White Sox ownership is.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 01:25 PM) Is there any scenario wherein the White Sox take back McCutchen? Or is this more like the Pirates won't move their top bats, but the Yankees have an excess, so we're getting the Yankees involved in Glasnow to get the likes of Rutherford and Andujar back? He is a guy I would bet on for a bounce back, but the timing isn't right IMO.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 01:14 PM) Hey that's kind of an interesting thought about Glasnow going to NYY. If that freed up some of the corresponding level of top hitters from the Yankees, I am all for it.
  7. QUOTE (gosoxgo2005 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 12:12 PM) As far as the punching thing, I don't even remember saying that but I'm sure I did. I'd advise you to not take things literally though. I read a handful of your posts and like I said, pinpointed And I'm not an internet tough guy. I'm as self deprecating as they come. I laugh at myself as much as anyone. I'm an idiot. All of that I admit. But I'll be the first to defend myself when people are talking s*** about me on internet forums You are wasting way too much time caring about what he thinks and posts. This is red meat for him.
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:43 AM) Just remember that everybody wants to rebuild partially on the basis of the most prominent team to do it successfully, the Cubs. They had just a few players that came up through their system act as cornerstones for the WS run. As long as we can generate some depth with the system alongside a couple of studs, just always keep in mind that we can fill in the remaining holes in other ways. When it comes to cornerstone players we traded one away in Eaton, and got a potential one back in Moncada. The idea that we can just "fill in" remaining holes is exactly what we have spent the last 10 years trying to do.
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:49 AM) I wouldn't call what the Sox had was outstanding pitching. They had 2 outstanding starters, one really good one, one mediocre and one awful. If out of this haul they can get 5 outstanding to really good ones, they won't need to score much. Plus, most of the position players they did get are rated pretty high on defense. Pitching and defense. That is pretty ridiculously optimistic when it comes to pitchers and bust rates.
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:49 AM) Something about the 3-way doesn't add up to me. If you break it into two separate trades, it is... Yankees get McCutchen for Rutherford and Andujar Sox get Quintana for Glasnow, some other player (Keller?) plus McCutchen package To me, the Yankee prospects seem to be fairly light for McCutchen and if a bigger McCutchen package went to the Sox in addition to Glasnow and another Top 5-6 Pirates player, that would be too much for Quintana in all likelihood. Yeah, I was trying to figure out that too. I think the Yankees get off light, while the Pirates give up a s*** ton.
  11. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:40 AM) It looks like they are stock piling them so they should get an outstanding rotation of of the ones that do. So in five years we can be back to where we are now, with outstanding pitchers, but no offense or defense. What a waste.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:38 AM) If we're going to engage in a three-way deal with Pitt/NYY, I would prefer we take the opportunity to acquire 2 position players as the top two pieces, if possible. I know we love Rutherford, and he would be an idea 2nd piece. Just wish we could make that first piece either Meadows or Torres or Frazier. I agree in regards to stacking talent and not worrying about fit quite yet, but it sure seems like these other orgs are hoarding their position players ahead of their pitching prospects. I think that is an indication of value that we are accepting, which I wish we were unwilling to do. Yeah, if we aren't getting the top pieces from either system offensively, hopefully we are getting a car load of players back. Otherwise it is another return that makes sense on paper, but not in terms of any sort of actual roster building.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) Keller is way more valuable than Newman, IMO Not to the farm system we have now.
  14. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 06:55 AM) Am I the only one who likes Matt Barkley? I'm not sure he's the answer, but he certainly makes some plays and seems to have some poise on the field. I wouldn't mind the Bears keeping him around on a "prove it" one year starter deal and drafting a QB to be his understudy. Barkley has a terrible arm, and his accuracy has been ugly at times. That said, there is no reason he can't be a quality back up in this league. I don't want him as a starter, but no reason he can't pull a paycheck for a lot of years in the NFL.
  15. QUOTE (Moncada @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) We need potential elite hitter not more pitchers. Yeah, I'd rather not get back Keller and get back more bats. This team needs position prospects, otherwise we are just pushing the rebuild even out further down the road, assuming the pitching actually works out.
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 04:18 PM) I started Better Call Saul two nights ago. Definitely has that same binge watch feel that Breaking Bad had. Also hoping I can convince the wife to watch Fargo. Figure we could get through that in five days easy. I can't wait for BCS to come back as well. It is just as well written as BB.
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 10:25 PM) Frazier will probably be a 3 WAR player next year getting paid like 1.5 to 2 WAR player, so he certainly should have some surplus value. He is also a good enough player to warrant a QO and will likely return the acquiring team a draft pick. We should most definitely be able to get something of value for him. The Giants seem like a good fit to me. We have seen over and over again that one dimensional power bats don't have nearly as much value as they should on the open market right now. If Frazier was a FA, his annual rate would be really close to what he is expected to get this year in Arb.The only thing he has going for him is that he only has one year of obligation coming up, instead of the 2 or 3 he'd get as a FA.
  18. I'll never get the jealously and anger directed towards those who have information and are willing to share it.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 04:10 AM) How does this heat up the Frazier market, like, at all? Because they both hit 40 homers? How is that even a hot market? He'd be an upgrade to quite a few teams, but, even if I agree with them selling on him, he's not going to net a ton. Maybe a couple of 45-50 FV prospects with upside. Guys who are 3-5 years away. I'm OK with that return, but that's not a hot market. Yeah, if anything it throws more water on to the Abreu and Fraizer markets.
  20. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 09:47 AM) Brian Bilek ‏@BrianBilek_ #WhiteSox are in trade talks on a "complex" deal they want to get done by Christmas. Nothing finalized but names & scope of deal are fluid. 7:45 AM - 23 Dec 2016 Brian Bilek ‏@BrianBilek_ 3 way trade would entail Quintana to #Pirates, McCucthen to #Yankees and a package of prospects that's headlined by Glasnow to #WhiteSox. Brian Bilek ‏@BrianBilek_ Outside of Glasnow, #WhiteSox would receive some combo of Mitch Keller, Blake Rutherford, Kevin Newman, Miguel Andujar & Elias Diaz. 7:46 AM - 23 Dec 2016 some raBBit bombs link If we are only moving Q, I think I am OK with that as long as the combo of players is the top of that list, and not the bottom.
  21. I GOTTA LOTTA PROBLEMS WITH YOU PEOPLE!
  22. The problem is those guys have about zero surplus value.
  23. Wow, that is like half of what he was looking for to start with.
  24. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 03:24 PM) When ARod signed with Texas back in the day, I believe we had the second highest offer at $190M. With a new TV deal being in the works, I could definitely see Reinsdorf being very motivated to make a free agent splash to help boost its value. And clearly we'll have a ton of financial flexibility to fit such a salary in our budget. While it's unlikely we land a guy like Machado, I fully expect us to be in the mix. I remember it being like 8/160.
  25. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) Yeah, still far less then he'd get on the open market. Looking at one dimensional power hitters are getting? Not too sure of that.
