But in previous years he was fine, as well as when he played 1st in BAL, which usually means something else is going on, like a case of the yips, injury, frustration, or who knows what. -
Typically you can hide a pitcher in the bullpen to get them enough roster time to own them. But this year the guys in this draft are probably better than most of the internal candidates anyway so who knows.

Would be interesting to see about a bat and and an arm. Lord knows we could use both. Don't know if any of the starters project, but we could definitely make room for a reliever, or maybe even two. The power 1b from the Dodgers and the CF definitely sound interesting in a lost season.

It's weird because the year before he made zero errors in 9 games. Wonder what was different? -

One thing that Sheets doesn't have is any kind of an arm, whatsoever. I obviously haven't actually seen the kid play at all and am fully going off of the scouting reports, but when a guy is being talked about as one of the best arms in the game, you think about a position where he can use it. Based on all of his scouting reports, he sounds like has a decent fallback as a 1b. I will also note that the samples are incredibly small on fangraphs, but they didn't seem to hate him as a defender. In 20 innings he played true neutral at 1B and got dinged for range at 3B in 68 innings. Granted we are talking about 2.5 and 7.5 games here so incredibly SSS to be trying to decide a defensive future based on those numbers. His UZR/150 of 4.7 at 3B would have qualified him as 6th of 14 qualified players last year in MLB, which puts him solidly in camp average. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/coby-mayo/28312/stats?position=1B%2F3B -

He sounds a lot like a RF to me. Has he ever been played out there? Going back through the MLB reports the last few years on his defense. https://www.mlb.com/prospects/orioles/coby-mayo-691723 -
Yeah and five years from now when the going price is a billion, people will look back on it and think how cheap this deal is.

since we have decided that we aren't going to be playing real baseball with the ghost runner rule, let's just say f*** it and go home run derby for extra innings. -

I think he would like to realize some of that money up front for sure, but how much of a haircut is he going to be willing to take on his free agent years is the question. -

I don't know if WANTS is the word I would use, it seemed more like willing to do so if he got enough money up front. -

Baltimore has to worry about winning now. If they miss this window, who knows when their next one will be. -
It just feels like the same old thing with new marketing.

lol, wat? This team lost 121 games last year and will probably come into the spring with less talent than the did last year. There will be no "compete right now" for the Chicago White Sox. -
Or, the Sox sign on to mediocrity (and worse) for long periods of time. I, for one, won't equate the Sox continuing to employ someone as them being good at their job. Call it the LaRussa Rule.

I don't get either extreme for Katz. Crochet had a year, but the staff as a whole was pretty much expected or worse and balanced that out.

Huge signing by Getz to kickoff the pre-meeting dealings...

I didn't know he knew how to do that. A+. -

If Texas gets another team they will complete the triangle. Plus when it comes to metro areas Chicago is much bigger. -

Honestly if Jerry wanted to move the Sox would love it, because someone would absolutely pay the expansion franchise fee to be Chicago's 2nd team. -
Today, not 20 years ago.
