  1. This assumes all players are way more interchangeable than they actually are in the description of "best". Yankees best player is probably either Cole or Judge. You could never play them at SS, otherwise you would destroy your defense, and probably even your offense in the name of Cole. By playing them in SP and RF, respectively, you maximize their skillset to what a position asks of them best.
  2. Unless they are all working together to not be competitive, that isn't collusion, that is coincidence.
  3. If the argument is arbitrary, this gets a whole lot easier, as even RBI are arbitrary and flawed, which is a commonly held view, which is what led to more comprehensive analysis to get to things like WAR and RC+. Not wanting to understanding advanced stats also seems to be a pretty widely held view.
  4. OK buddy. Instead of you wasting a bunch more of my time again, if they sell for $1.5 billion in the future, you come back and keep that anger strong. Bookmark this post and keep dwelling on it.
  5. If we are going to speak in absurdity and absolutely, it isn't going to be a real discussion. Yes defense can be just an important as offense. Hitting a homer can be canceled out by letting a baseball go by you because you don't have range, or not having the arm to throw someone out. A run is a run, no matter how it is scored, or even prevented. Your argument would be that a guy like Ozzie Smith was basically worthless because he didn't hit homers and put up RBIs.
  6. Your choices are working for Tom Brady or the Bears. I know who I am choosing.
  7. You literally got political. Great work.
  8. Without a Magglio Ordonez or a Carlos Lee, what are we spending to add to, exactly?
  9. Probably because you still don't understand the stat and get told so routinely. Players are more than HR and RBI. Defense, baserunning, etc, matter.
  10. It is a great point that the White Sox effectively have zero debt on their books.
  11. A great example was the Mets. They overbid their market value by somewhere around $500 million, and yet today they are worth ANOTHER $500 million over that inflated number.
  12. Judging by the extreme premiums happening for franchise purchases vs Forbes valuations in recent years, I would posit a sale price more like 3 billion versus 1.5.
  13. They were somewhere just short of 2 billion dollars wrong.
  14. Take a guess at what the White Sox were worth after the 2005 season, and then get back to me as to why he didn't sell.
  15. Apparently Rick Hahn and Marco Paddy were brilliant for leaving so much room in this bonus pool...
  16. And hopefully they put themselves into the middle of this by offering cap space for players too.
  17. This is the most Jerry response yet. I am smarter than you, so stfu.
  18. This was literally my point, and I think it was obvious to most.
  19. Some people just need to be offended to feel alive. As usual it is such an absurd over reaction to a made up. offense.
  20. Can we get to a non 100 loss season or two before we make any more threads giving hand jobs to Getz?
  21. As well they should once he earns his shot.
  22. Forget about the 2025 White Sox. There was never a chance for them. Be working on the 2028 White Sox.
