  1. The same Barfield that said to take Fletcher over McCarthy.
  2. Sure. Most of us are at the "why believe anything they say, because they have fed us lines of s%*# for decades now. Fool me one decade, shame on you. Fool me two decades, shame on my, fool me 4+ decades..."
  3. Auto-correct has it's own sense of humor sometimes.
  4. Well the Sox have been hiring poop, so it would fit.
  5. If only we had the worst season in baseball history to baseball the anger on, and not some made up fantasy world where we could all pretend not to notice anything bad
  6. You are 100% wrong here. If Jerry had brought in a real GM with a reputation and history worth believing in and let them do their damned jobs, they would have YEARS of good will just for the simple fact that something was actually changing. But when step one of this rebuild is nepo-baby Chris Getz, there is no reason to believe the octogenarian inmates are not still running the asylum.
  7. No it is what their leakers are saying, but we don't know what they are actually doing. We will know if they really did once they actually do some hirings. If they bring in someone like Skip Shumaker, the question is answered, as if they go another route.
  8. He doesn't own the entire team, so he isn't paying the entire tax hit. The historic estimate is 20%.
  9. And we are stupid enough to try it.
  10. They can look at whatever they want, but this manager is going to lose 400 games if they make it 4 years.
  11. You missed the point then. The White Sox are far from the only billionaire handout in the City of Chicago, and far from the wealthiest. Though they are only one of a very few with a dedicated revenue stream which isn't being redirected from other city services.
  12. That's their average daily balance, not their annual budget. This is also a separate taxing body. But this is far from the only billions spent. He'll they are STILL paying Boeing, who is gone.
  13. The city of Chicago has an ADB of almost 2 billion sitting around in TIF dollars. This kind of spending is very normal. https://igchicago.org/information-portal/data-dashboards/chicago-tif-districts-map-fund-balances/
  14. If our corporate billionaire doesn't get those dollars, another one will. It's not like anyone will see a tax cut if the block Jerry here.
  15. I can conceive of a White Sox identity, it's just not a good one.
  16. Nope, Harold wins.
  17. And you think Sox fans are too stupid to do it. I know. Sounds like something a Cub fan would think, right?
  18. Is the Applebees still open there? We can poll them to find out.
  19. I remember hearing someone tell similar stories about Carlos Rodon too, didn't really try until his non-tender.
  20. There is no question.
  21. I don't see a path this hire being around for our next playoff team. There is going to be so much losing in the near future, I just hope for someone who can develop and keep people healthy.
  22. I will be honest, I don't know that I can bring myself to really care enough to be upset/excited about who we hire here. I think the one thing I am looking for is maybe a sign that Getz is free of his octogenarian overlords. If he bring in Skip Shumaker, it tells me that Tony is probably the guy running the show to some extent.
  23. I would be stunned that you think Cub fans are smarter than Sox fans when it comes to public transportation, but I think we know the reason for it...
