  1. Which is why the ballpark village concept would appeal to Jerry.
  2. This is going to be ugly when it happens if he signs an extension early on.
  3. This has never been about drawing fans when winning. We all know Sox fans are a bandwagon lot who show up for blue skies. Jerry is looking north at Wrigley for a place whose game day experiences are so powerful that people don't just show up when times are good, but still show up when things are bad.
  4. I, for one, would welcome our new overlords.
  5. No, I was saying he wasn't top 30, which is accurate. He is literally not. You shifted this into "well i think so" territory
  6. He will also be going back to Birmingham as a 25 year old, and again above league average age as a post TJS guy with a profile that doesn't really jump out.
  7. Even if it actually were to happen, that just means he got on because other guys fell so much. That is also not a good thing.
  8. So we are to the point where you claim he is a top 30 guy because you claim he is, despite no one else saying it. Got it. Cool.
  9. Looking at FutureSox, Keith Law, fangraphs, and MLB rankings he is quite literally not a top 30 guy.
  10. Gowans is not a top 30 guy right now. Shuster was terrible last year for ATL and their AAA team. He was awful at Charlotte and awful as a starter for the Sox. As a reliever he gave up an OPS split of 110, meaning he was 10% worse than league average. While his ERA fell as a reliever, all of his splits actually got worse. He struck out less batters, gave up more H/9, a walk every other inning, and a not great HR rate. He hasn't shown he was a MLB reliever by a long shot.
  11. They made the Bummer trade in large part to win games in 2024 and lost 20 more games than the previous year. They targeted guys like Nicky Lopez to improve what was the leagues worst defense. They were even further behind the rest of the league as the leagues worst defense. They targeting pitching to try to fill out a rotation. They were the worst pitching team in baseball. We got have one guy out of that trade that might have a decent future, and he isn't even a top 30 guy for the White Sox. We got no future out of that deal. This deal was an abject failure in every aspect.
  12. This is an awful flex.
  13. The system is made for comps, and also builds in a salary suppression system which lessons after each year until the last year they are a full scale. Just the removal of a level of suppression from year 4 to year 5 is a big increase. It's literally now the system is built. Look it up if you don't believe me.
  14. And if that is the way it is done, that's fine.
  15. Just for the sake of the system, I would much prefer a native who is fluent in the language, plus knows the culture and has a natural access to the way things are done down there. Someone coming at it from the outside will probably have a much longer learning curve.
  16. You willing to bet $200 to $300 million on getting better without the assets from Crochet that we can make a playoff run by the time a long term contract runs out... or his health runs out?
  17. Who were the Phillies top guys who were agreed to?
  18. Instead we should let Crochet walk for nothing?
  19. Hopefully he gets the talent evaluation hires right, because we are doomed if we follow the last year trends.
  20. That is terrifying, yet not surprising.
  21. This is literally proving my point. And now if we are going to use the Burger/Eder trade standard of hindsight, Shewmake was garbage and is a DFA candidate. Schuster was awful. Pretty much the only non-disappointment was the MiLB pitcher who isn't even a top 30 guy anyway. We literally got nothing of value for Bummer. We got more for Tanner Banks just by getting a single decent prospect.
  22. Nah, don't project your panic on to me.
  23. And instead we failed at getting anything out of Soroka and Lopez. So much better.
  24. Fine, as in having them in the deal wasn't a problem, but they sure as s%*# weren't enough, especially when taking on as much short term dead-weight as the Sox did.
