  1. They can, and have a desperate need to get that level of talent into the system. But more importantly it is the drafting and development that really needs to step up as that is what has killed this franchise for decades.
  2. If they didn't fire him already, it is plausible.
  3. If they turned Wolkow into Borchard, that would be a success story.
  4. Be like neither and be healthy!
  5. But how many times did he strike out?
  6. Hello, Tonya Harding? Yeah, question for you...
  7. And this is where the organization has failed so badly. They have been utterly unable to generate even replacement level players, let alone someone who will contribute on a daily basis. This has to change if things are going to have a chance at turning around.
  8. For the record, I am with you. It is such an unimportant thing.
  9. I think we are seeing the kinds of reasons spending some time working your way through a minor league system has some value. There are so many little things that major leaguers do bigger, faster, and better than any minor leaguer does. If you aren't getting their incrementally, it is a big leap in those aspects. I think we saw some of that with Ramos, and we are seeing it again with Ellis.
  10. He said he wouldn't start every day after he got back.
  11. Is there another source for that? The article posted yesterday seemed more speculative, but also the Sox are going to Sox, so it is always possible they do the dumbest possible thing.
  12. Free agency via Curt Flood was 1976. I was wrong on draft as it was 1965. The point was that the game has changed a lot in 52 years, and players don't stay put like they used to because of those things. Steve Carlton staying on a bad team for 8 years as a top flight pitcher doesn't happen today.
  13. Too bad he can't catch like his old man did.
  14. You know what didn't exist in 1972? Free agency. You know what else didn't exist? The draft.
  15. I do hope someone figures out how to keep him on the field because the dude is special.
  16. In 2024, that IS special. This win brings us back above Martin Maldanado's OPS in terms of winning percentage.
  17. Any deal has to start with a top 10, top 50, and top 100 and go from there. Sneaking in a young raw international player at the end would be sweet as well.
  18. #1 the pen is gassed. #2 who out of the pen has shown they should be there instead?
  19. Something about winning...
