  1. Those stories are crazy. I think I remember a similar one about someone who left NYC after 9-11 and ended up in the middle of Katrina.
  2. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 08:32 AM) If Rios hits like he did last year we'll be comparing him to Andruw Jones not Aaron Rowand. And if he hits like he has every other single year of his career, he will better than anyone we have had out there in a pretty long time.
  3. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 06:24 PM) There's some interesting lefty's who are out of options, who'll hit waivers if they don't make the their respective teams. Renyel Pinto, Jeremy Sowers, Sean Henn, Pat Mitsch (i love his curveball), Doug Slaten. I think Slaten and Mitch are plausible options. I don't see Pinto and Sowers being exposed just yet. And I have to imagine at least one of those guys will be someone who get squeezed at the end.
  4. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) I don't post very often, and I realize what I'm going to propose could be ridiculous, but here goes. What about building a package around Quentin for Gonzalez? Does that make any sense? From our point of view, it seems like its a lot easier to find a corner outfielder than a LH all-star 1B.... thoughts? TCQ is about to expensive, which is exactly what the Padres don't want.
  5. From the original ESPN Crew!
  6. QUOTE (SnB @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 12:03 PM) the office fandom is dying and dying quickly. With watching the first four seasons of HIMYM on DVD, The Office is almost dead to me.
  7. And people thought the Sox were the redheaded step child of Chicago...
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 09:40 AM) until he eats the last of the peanut butter and puts the empty jar back in the cabinet I hope that isn't a euphemism for something....
  9. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 08:18 AM) Proof | | | V QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 08:26 AM) I couldnt help myself. He told me about that time he went to the rodeo Somehow I think this two posts are related...
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) I actually want Bradley to succeed this year. It would only make Cubs fans even more bitter. This.
  11. QUOTE (The Critic @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 06:05 PM) I'm disappointed that the Hawks didn't upgrade in goal, but I think I'd be more upset if any goalie of value was dealt today. The Hawks were in a spot where their would have had to deal out as many dollars as they took in to get a goalie, and they had to make two deals to do it. So in otherwords they would have had to find a decent deal for someone like Buff, Versteeg, or Sharp to free up a decent amount of cash, because obviously they couldn't find anyone who wanted Huet. The Cap just killed us this time around.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) Agreed. It's not just there to waste time. Nothing is in this show, especially things they take the time to develop as much as they have.
  13. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 09:39 PM) I keep hearing kooks say that Obama is violating the constitution. But they never say how. And they tried to impeach Clinton, some tried to impeach Dubya, and you just know that eventually some will be trying to do it to Obama. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 08:02 AM) Like assless chaps. If you feel confident and comfortable in those, by all means Why drag Shipps back into this?
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) what do you guys think the best solution is right now... I don't know, without knowing the personality of Huet, I would say the best option right now is for Q and Bowman to sit him down and basically say "We signed you to big money, we trust you, you are going to start from here on out." I know Anti has played better overall, but I just want them to give Huet one more crack He pretty much has to get the next start at this point. We are in a situation where Q just has to play the hottest guy and pray for the best.
  16. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) He was regarded as a top 15 pick, who the Bears got very lucky in nabbing since he dropped, and other teams pretty much had good TE (or they had more glaring needs at other areas). It was a steal at the time, and still love the pick till this day. Then again maybe with the way he has played so far, the other 30 teams in front of the Bears were on to something...
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) Hopefully one of the goaltenders gets hot. We were kidding ourselves thinking Huet's contract could be moved. That is the problem with being so close to the salary cap. You pretty much had to be able to get two deals done simultaneously, otherwise it wasn't worth it. It looks like it couldn't be done.
  18. I would expect Kenny to be looking at guys who could be squeezed from rosters without options if both of those guys don't do well in the spring.
  19. The reference in today's trib about Brandon McCarthy was interesting. I don't know what to think of Hudson in our pen, except that he seemed to do all right there last. I would prefer that he did his work as a starter, even if that means Charlotte for him at the beginning.
  20. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 01:50 PM) Used to be able to get a used pair of jeans at a head shop for $1. Who cared if they fit right. I do more of my jeans shopping there versus anywhere else. I can't see spending $50 plus for something like that.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) cough*hgh*cough Come on, I have seen Jason Gage play softball. The only homers he was hitting on a video get set to easy.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 12:40 PM) I was really hoping Sayid was going to stab Kate. [insert sex joke here]
  23. QUOTE (The Critic @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 10:26 AM) Per season average: .283, 11 HR, 42 RBI 2005 Post-season: .266, 0 HR, 3 RBI He's been deified by some because of running into walls and being super-grindy, but Rowand was a good player here, never a great one. Certainly not worth the money SF ended up giving him IMO. And all of the years that were in that deal.
  24. Olsen hasn't been able to come anywhere near what he was supposed to be here, even after we got Cutler.
  25. It was just announced that Noah is being shutdown for three weeks.
