QUOTE (SI1020 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 08:34 PM) Ozzie seems to really like him and that scares me. Everybody loves that arm. They dream of harnessing it and making him into a stud.

Slow pitch softball bats
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) Bats actually can make a huge difference. My team was using some cheap old bats, then my buddy and I went out and got a real nice one and the ball went a lot farther. I am not saying it can't help, I am saying for many people it doesn't matter, but they sure think it does. Think of the sort of people who buy a new driver every three months and still don't break a 100.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 12:32 PM) Though this will probably be the BEST team, the window is not short with Kane/Toews/Keith/Hossa locked up. Being a Sox fan, I will never think that way. We led ourselves to believe the samething after 2000 and 2005. It might not be true, but you never know.

Slow pitch softball bats
I just wait for the insecure guys who think a bat is going to fix their game to go out and waste a few hundred bucks on bats. Then I use theirs.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 11:53 AM) Miami Herald reports that Vokoun has been approached about waiving his no-trade clause, but no word on to who or why? Eklund says "Vokoun to either Philly or Chicago (e4)" Chicago knows the window for winning titles might be short. They are going to do everything they can to get a goalie here this year.

Tuesday's B-game
QUOTE (striker @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 11:56 AM) The White Sox have pretty much always had good pitching under Cooper. I can't say what he does to be a good pitching coach but I know he gets good results. What would be the criteria for giving a pitching coach credit for fixing someone? You really don't remember the Nardi Contreras era, do you?

Tuesday's B-game
QUOTE (striker @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 11:39 AM) Everyone is overreacting. I think Cooper is a good pitching coach. My argument is that Cooper shouldn't get credit for "fixing" people just because they played better for the White Sox than other teams. I'm more than happy to hear your argument about how Cooper fixed Jenks, Cotts, Contreras, Hermanson, Floyd, Loaiza. I actually heard how Cooper worked with Thornton on his delivery, so I'll give him credit for Thornton. Now let me hear what he did for the others.... Then what exactly would the criteria be for a good pitching coach???

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) Rumor: Huet + to Toronto for D Finger (PoS), with supplemental deal for Vokoun to follow. This is all according to Jesse Rogers. Sweet. Anything that ships that god awful contract out of here is AWESOME.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 10:44 AM) are you insane? Successes: Thornton Hermanson Floyd Contreras (s*** before coop) Loaiza (s*** before AND after coop) Jenks (s*** before coop) how can you say he wasn't successful with those last three?? Thank you. The original failure list is garbage. I think Nardi Contreras wrote that out of jealousy.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 07:18 AM) Some of the television adaptations have been pretty bad, but on the whole I agree. And I thought the Wicked novel was brilliant, though McGuire (sp?) sort of kept going back to the same well after that with the Ugly Stepsisters, Son of a Witch, etc. I got the wife tickets to the Chicago production and it was pretty solid. The storyline was great, and the acting was well, broadway-esque.
