  2. QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 02:15 PM) Yep, Dawson is the key "get" to make his recruiting class good to possibly stellar if the likes of McGary follow. Have not seen McGary in person yet). The two Johnson's they already have coming in are solid guards. I havent't seen the kid from Whitney Young in person (Anthony Johnson), but I have caught Terone Johnson from Indianapolis when "we" (East Chicago) beat them. They are solid guys if they can get a stud like Dawson they are perfect guards to florish in West Lafayette. I broadcast HS basketball for Michigan City HS in the Duneland. McGary is a very complete big man. To me, despite the injuries this year, he is the DAC player of the year.
  3. Nice win for the US. Now Canada needs to take care of business to make this rematch happen.
  4. QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 01:41 PM) They have a couple decent guards coming in Johnson from Indy etc, but no real studs. They are the supposed leader for Brandon Dawson out of Gary, Ind along with UCLA ( been hearing some Duke interest from Dawson lately though). They are really putting all of their eggs in the Dawson basket for next year as he is a top 10 guy at worst, and their other recruits fit nicely with him as the center piece. If they miss on him the next guy they are all over is also from Gary a stud sophmore Morero. Painter is going to try to survive and flourish by getting the "region" kids from N.W. IND. to stay at home. If he can succeed they will be very strong year in and year out. Moore, Hummel, and Martin (even though he transfered) were the key to that stellar recruiting class and the template for future success if he can recruit "da Region" well. They are recruiting a couple of guys from this area pretty hard, who can really help them over the next couple of years. I know Mitch McGary (a Jr) is one, and I have seen him play in person quite a few times. He is going to be really good at the college level. Glen Robinson's kid is a sophomore and already averaging about 17 a game.
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 01:43 PM) Tyrus Thomas - whoops! Yep. It will be no time at all before he starts getting benched again.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 10:40 AM) Wow, I have to say I'm surprised. I was pretty sure Danks would be in AAA, but I thought Mitchell would be in A+. Me too. I didn't think that either Mitchell or Thompson would be on any kind of a fast track. I guess they must think Mitchell is closer than the rest of us.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 10:17 AM) Emphasis mine... LINK He probably thought they were giving away his tapioca pudding Or you can tell him "tough s***" yourselves.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 09:40 AM) Stick it to her. The best/worst part is that through the radio station I have been doing sports at, I got a free night at this place... http://www.serenity-springs.com/bungalows/...otparadise.html
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 09:26 AM) I'm more than willing to be patient with Crean and so far I haven't been disappointed with what I've seen. He's had what, 1, 1.5 recruiting classes in so far, and he's gotten good people to come in with them, correct? Didn't IU's best player go down with an injury already this year? He's gotten really good performances out of a young, weak team, and made himself look like a quality coach. I can live with that for now. I agree. Unless you are breaking the rules, you can't get an entire team turned around in a year.
  10. QUOTE (G&T @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 08:21 PM) Why? It's apparently the most popular time to get vasectomies anyway because it requires 2 weeks to recoup. Two weeks? Not really.
  11. So the wife and I are supposed to be getting out for our first overnight alone since the kids were born on Saturday, so of course the oldest kid has a horrible cough and a 102+ fever. Ugh.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 08:50 AM) IF they want to keep both him and D2: the Mighty Danks playing CF, then he has to start off at A-Ball unless they're bumping D2: the Mighty Danks up to AAA. The way that Danks has been talked about by the organization, I wouldn't be surprised if he was at AAA. Mitchell is no where close to that level of a finished product from what the reports say.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 08:49 AM) Every source I'm reading calls his deal a minor league contract. The two are not mutually exclusive.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 08:13 AM) Contract extension talks between the Rays and Carl Crawford have broken down (never really made sense anyway). If the Rays fall out of the race, he's going to be available. His price will never be higher this year than it is today...
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 11:48 PM) If he's in AA, then he's taking the Gordon Beckham/Dan Hudson Quick Route to the Majors. And to me, that is the biggest indicator that he will NOT start off in Bham. Mitchell is far from a finished product, and could use the 1000 ABs of a couple+ minor league seasons.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 08:11 AM) It's not the greatest list ever (They have a lot of guys who are gone still listed as Sox, trades don't seem to have registered with them), but come on, you know you want to look at the top 2000 prospects for 2010 WTF would ever posses someone to rank 2029 minor league baseball players???
  17. The question for me with Daniel Cabrera is does he have a release clause if he does not make the team? Anyone know?
  18. I have tried reading the new Saltwater Pickle Company comic... I haven't been able to get into it at all yet.
  19. Good for them, I know if I won Olympic gold, they'd have to fight to keep my pants on me.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 07:35 AM) Another article written by someone who doesn't know what this market really is. Markit is a major player in that space. And having CDS contracts on the market actually helps PROTECT debtors, not make things worse. The issue isn't about swaps - its about how swaps are settled and cleared, and the capital requirements (and valuation) that should be associated with them. If the market is cleared and regulated properly, it can be a very positive thing for the overal global debt markets. Ugh. I'm not defending the particular situation the Greeks got themselves into, nor am I saying that swaps are great. But there is this bizarre idea out there that anything called a "derivative" is somehow an evil plot to destroy the world. Its just stupid. Especially for a party that is running a trillion and a half deficit, plus looking to add much more.
  21. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 10:20 PM) I love Obama's response to Paul Ryan talking about the obsurdity of the CBO score of this bill,.... "I don't want to get bogged down by numbers." Yeah what's an extra trillion dollars . Brilliant. Not to mention, what was the last major program that came in under budget for the federal government? If they say one trillion, it will probably be three.
  22. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 10:15 PM) As optimistic as this sounds, I likened him to Carl Crawford when i saw him with LSU, and Orel Hershiser said the same thing. He has the same skillset as Crawford, while looking a lot like crawford in body type and size as well. Obviously that would spectacular if he turned into Crawford, but at this point he looks pretty good. Is he starting in A+, or do you guys think AA? I think AA is where he will start, and if not, he will be there before the summer. If we get anything close to Carl Crawford out of Mitchell, I will be eternally thrilled.
  23. I don't ever remember seeing news stories about an individual getting a twitter account.
  24. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) Ozzie said he was going to dinner an hour ago....but still hasn't updated us yet as to where he went? I hope his twitter follow through is better during the coming weeks. An hour? I can see Ozzie being the type to take hours for a dinner.
  25. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) I am very suprised that Mitchell was ranked this high considering he was injured last year. I LOVE his OBP though. 23 walks in 34 games is amazing for a speed guy. If Mitchell can walk 100 times in a 162 game season, then he could be a guy who will swipe 50+ bags because that is a LOT of times being on first base. It will be interesting to see how he works his walks. Is he a guy that just takes a lot of pitches, ala Nick Swisher, who also takes a lot of strikes, or is he a guy with a real eye for the zone.
