White Sox Payroll Resource
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 12, 2009 -> 03:02 PM) Yes, we're going to non-tender DJ Carrasco because we're currently $45M-$55M under budget.

Sox interested in Yanks' Brett Gardner
QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Dec 12, 2009 -> 03:22 PM) An 11 page thread on Brett Gardner? Seriously? To be fair, it wouldn't have gotten this far without people like you complaining about it.

Too bad IU has completely fallen apart. It would have been nice to see them get the upset.

Sox pass in Rule V draft.
QUOTE (b-Rye @ Dec 12, 2009 -> 12:17 PM) Read the cubs drafted josh hamilton in the rule 5 a few years ago and traded him to reds right away... i can't believe hendry is still gm. Hamilton was pretty much a persona non grata at that point. There weren't going to be many teams that took a chance on him with his history.

Sox Could Non-Tender Carrasco
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 12, 2009 -> 12:01 PM) The only thing is perhaps he has some physical issues we know nothing about, other than that, its a head scratcher. Like was posted above, at worst sign him and take him to spring training. If there are injuries he fits in, and as long as he doesn't get lit up he could be traded, but even an arb contract is not guaranteed so they would only be on the hook for 20% of it. Its really a low risk signing, unless he's pretty beat up. Or there is something in the clubhouse that hasn't come out yet...

Now don't be so pretentious.

Sox Could Non-Tender Carrasco
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 12, 2009 -> 07:28 AM) I hope Torres is not part of the equation, but I agree the Carrasco situation makes no sense. If they don't want to pay him, trade him, and this little part from Gonzalez makes it even more curious: The Sox met Wednesday with Carrasco's agent at the winter meetings in Indianapolis but were several hundred thousand dollars apart. We aren't even talking $1 million. There's probably a decent chance Carrasco blows up in 2010, but somebody somewhere would pay him his rather measley salary and give the White Sox something for him. Unless they have a solid lead on a better reliever that is getting non-tendered, I don't get what the problem is here. It doesn't make any sense.

Debate: Swap Linebrink for Bradley?
QUOTE (chunk23 @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 08:22 PM) How many of us thought the exact same thing when the Sox picked up AJ? He carried a terrible reputation, he got into fights with teammates. 99% of Sox fans despised him. How many still wish he wasn't a part of the team? I loved the move. I can respect a guy for what he is. AJ has one of the best baseball IQs there is. Bradley is lazy, and a bad teammate.

Sox sign Putz
QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 05:10 PM) Oops. If our guys are offended by this, then I may have to change my opinion of Joe. I did not realize this was goin on. I back the good people here over him! Justin and Mario are awesome. Were our guys offended by this or just happy to get the mention in his twitter. It's not like it was in the actual newspaper. My bad if Justin et all were offended by Joe's twitters. I support the guys on here more than Joe!!! If there is one thing I can say about the guys who do the grunt work behind Soxtalk, it is that they do it because they like it. You don't hear people from this site trying to spam all over the place to try to get our name out there. Our guys don't call the radio shows just so that they can say Soxnet on the air. We don't seek out publicity. If we get some, great. But we are NOT media whores. We report our stuff in our network, and if anyone picks up on it, fine.

Sox sign Putz
QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 05:04 PM) I guess not. I don't live there and see him on TV or hear him on radio. I just read it. He gives us stories and lots of them and stuff to talk about. I don't understand the problem, but that's just me. I like the guy at the Trib as well. From afar it does seem the Cowley fellow churns out a bit more all year round. Of course the Trib writer is probably taking a well deserved vacation after a long season. Those guys get vacation time built up, too, I bet. It just seems so personal; that people hate this Cowley for some reason. And a few of you have pointed out the reasons of which I thank you. No love for Kwanzaa?! Go to hell. Oops never heard of that one. Sorry. That's because he made it personal, just like the D-bag who he is trying to replicate.

Carlos Quentin as a DH?
QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) Exactly. Some guys just have bodies that seem to get hurt in situations that others' would not. Also, if he pulls or tweaks a hammy or something, is he gonna recover quicker playing through it out of DH or OF? I would love an explanation of how something in TCQs body made him get hurt over anyone else punching a bat. (or a locker as the case may be).

Its a great price assuming he is healthy. Hopefully the Carrasco chip lands all right.

Sox Could Non-Tender Carrasco
Here is a thought... all things considered, would it be better for the Sox to lose Bobby Jenks or DJ Carrasco for either nothing, or a trade where we receive a nobody minor leaguer?

Sox interested in Yanks' Brett Gardner
QUOTE (Ranger @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 11:04 AM) Not if Quentin and Rios do their jobs. This season is going to depend largely on those two guys anyway. Without a doubt, those two guys are the biggest question marks going into '10.

Sox Could Non-Tender Carrasco
Wow. He must be asking for a crazy number or something. At worst, you think they could have traded him for something.

Sox interested in Yanks' Brett Gardner
QUOTE (SEALgep @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) Both are talented, they have different games. Talent-wise TCQ is so much better, it isn't even funny. Q is one of the most talented guys in the entire game.

Jordan Danks filling in at OF
He needs more time. It sounds like the glove is there, but right now he is putting up Josh Fields/Joe Borchard type strike out numbers, without the power. He has got to get that swing fixed, or he would put up Mark Reynolds type K numbers.
