  1. The Bulls wouldn't lose to NJ, would they?
  2. Pretty much any time a deal is made where you get Yankees prospects, you lose. I don't know how a team can consistently hype their minor league guys and be wrong as often as the Yankees, yet everyone still bites on them. For the White Sox sake, I sure hope that tradition holds true.
  3. This would totally be a move to be able to dump Jenks.

  7. For those who have not followed this series, it is a must read. There are so many things that the general public should know and understand in order to see the world around them. http://www.chicagotribune.com/health/agent...0,1766354.story
  8. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 12:09 PM) 3 yrs for 14 mil Not bad really. If he settles into a position and hits for some Joe Crede-ish numbers, that is solid and cost certain.
  9. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 04:00 PM) People actually live in Iowa? Wild. Someone has to grow the grains for your liquor.

If you are into nature/hiking/climbing Red Rock Canyon is about 15 miles outside of town and just incredible.
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 11:01 AM) .223 is ridiculously low, considering his career BABIP is .258. I could understand it being lower last year due to his flyball percentage being at its highest total - a flyball 47.2% of the time - but a 35 point drop is huge. His line-drive percentage was right around normal, and he actually had more infield hits than he did in 2008, which is lucky in its own right. I think Quentin's a great candidate to bounce back and have an .875-.900 OPS season, and he could very easily put up more. Again, I think the only reason the Sox would consider a move like this is because they are convinced that he won't stay healthy. I think the cart is going in front of the horse in this case. It isn't TCQs BABIP that indicated a bad year, it was a symptom of his bad year. The guy had a bad foot and couldn't drive off of that foot like he was accustomed to. This meant that everything he was hitting, wasn't getting hit with the same authority that he did in 2008 for example. The guy hit a bunch of lazy flyballs last year, that wouldn't have been the prior years, because he simply couldn't hit the ball with his usual authority. Q wasn't unlucky last year, he was hurt. In 2008 he wasn't lucky, he was healthy. If he is healthy he will see all of those fancy statistics rebound. If he isn't, they will suck again.
  12. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 11:29 AM) Regardless, his club is the subject of one of the most surprising rumors of the day, as FOXSports.com -- citing Major League sources -- reported on Monday afternoon that the Rays are throwing themselves into the Roy Halladay sweepstakes. Tampa Bay might be willing to offer standout pitching prospect Wade Davis and outfielder B.J. Upton, whom Toronto could then flip to a third team http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb then i looked at the blue jays needs and they have raul chavez as there catcher so im sure theyd love to have flowers. i figured hmmmm this make since seeing as the the blue jays want 2 top 5 spects for him. Ah. Interesting. That could be an incredible fit for the Sox. I wonder if that is why Kenny played coy when Roy's name came up?
  13. I don't ever remember hotel rooms being available this long into a Soxfest ticket sale. The crazy thing is this fest is a ton smaller than the old ones too. I am still really shocked they didn't even acknowledge the recession and try to do some cheaper stuff for fans, and it looks like they are paying for it by not being able to get people to come at those prices. For those who can go, it should be a great year, and not very big crowds. Honestly, those are the best years for the fest, because it is so much more relaxed with out tons of people everywhere.
  14. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 11:13 AM) THE WHITE SOX WILL BE INVOLVED IN A DEAL FOR ROY BOOK IT! ya thats right you heard it here first... Blue Jays get Tyler Flowers, Wade Davis and other spects from TB and us We get BJ Upton TB get Halladay You know for a made up three way deal, that isn't half bad.
  15. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 09:52 AM) I do not think it would be Quentin and Crawford straight up. The injury thing lingers over Quentin heavily. I think Jenks is involved and some Tampa pitching. If Jenks is involved too, we would have to be getting a very top pitcher out of their system.

  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 08:06 AM) Oh I agree, I think Zito's contract is among the three worst, with Soriano and Wells being the others. I'm just trying to see it through their eyes. I put Hampton ahead of Soriano for sure, and maybe Wells as well. Soriano at least has been pretty productive so far.
  18. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 10:03 PM) I drink at halftime during Bulls games too. I can't say I blame Artest. I usually start at about tip-off, but I feel you.
  19. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 10:21 PM) I hope Niemi keeps progressing. This is really perfect for the Hawks franchise and only makes the decision easier to move Huet in the offseason to resign the Hjalmarssons (Scotty Bowman did say that he'd bet his reputation that he becomes a top 4 defenseman in the league), Ladds (possibly unless Beach, etc.. are higher on the Hawks radar) and even the Niemis of the world. For now though.. we just enjoy the ride hopefully all the way to Lord Stanley. If Niemi can become an OK number one goalie (in other words as good as Huet), you give away Huet to the first taker and take your chances. That $5.5 million could be huge to this squad going forward.
  20. Zero tolerance for errors should be the theme of this thread.
  21. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 11:41 PM) In another shocking turn of events the Washington Nationals will waste $6M over the next 2 years on Ivan Rodriguez. That is the WTF move of the year.
  22. QUOTE (WHITESOXRANDY @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 06:31 AM) It all really comes down to, is there a team out there willing to pay Pods what he's looking for? If not, and I don't suspect there is, then he'll be back where the White Sox want him. If there was anyone who wanted to pay Pods anything, he would have been signed by now. I am guessing the only interest in Pods is fairly cheap, otherwise the Sox would have totally been priced out, and Kenny (well more accurately, Rick) wouldn't still wouldn't be talking to him.
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 07:41 AM) And frankly, you could put any number of other qualified people in these executive jobs for pennies on the dollar, and at worst, nothing would change (hard to make a disaster much worse), but at best, they might actually do better. And because labor makes by FAR the most money in any company, it isn't even close. Thank you.
