Colon set free
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) Tigers will sign him and he will win two games down the stretch. If only he had a change up, this could be true.

Justin Morneau done for the rest of the year
QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 06:55 PM) Are you a Twins fan or something? There's nothing wrong about wishing injury that you did not induce on your opponents. Yeah, its only the guys life and livelihood we are talking about... But hopefully a bus hits you tonight for this post.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 04:24 PM) Just move to Somalia where there's no government, no taxes, and you can have as many guns as you'd like. The conservative trifecta! You could always move to Canada where they already have universal everything and astronomical taxes. The Liberal Uptopia!

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 03:13 PM) I don't know anyone from the far left that votes democratic. Anarchists or people from the A.L.F or E.L.F would never vote for the democratic party. Thats why I find it funny when people call Obama a socialist or a communist. The socialists and communists I know can't stand Obama. How about the labor union fringes that finance the Dems, yet incite violence at rallies?

The Republican Thread
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) It's a little irresponsible to link Michelle Malkin even in the Republican thread. There are other links in the story.

Alexei might play in the D.R.
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) I don't mind it. Tons of latin players do this and it doesn't impact them. I just want him to stay out of trouble and be in great baseball shape when the season starts. I don't want him playing all off-season but if he plays for another month to month and a half that is a-ok with me. Maybe it will actually have him ready to hit in April this year...

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 02:32 PM) Even I'll say he has his crazy side. I'm always of the sort that thinks its interesting to compare the crazy side of each side of the aisle though. The crazy side of the left...damn dirty hippies. The crazy side of the right...thinks that carrying an AK-47 knockoff to a protest/bar is a good idea. Unless you lump in the really violent anarchists with the left (why would you?)...that always interested me. Uh, I would rope them into the left wing as much as you want to rope in these people on the right. These people are a major part of the biggest parts of the Democratic platform, such as the guys who think it is a good idea to fire bomb car dealerships to protect the environment. I don't see that as any different than lumping the Klansmen in with the right because they are religious. By and large these people vote Democratic, and are on the Democratic side of policy. The way you guys are defining the right wing, that makes these guys a legitmate part of the left wing.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 12:14 PM) So its just one giant handout to insurance companies. Why would anyone be surprised by that. This first nine months has been handouts for anyone and everyone.

Eric Bedard for 2010?
With the options the Sox already have for starters, they are NOT going to spend money on another one. End of story.

Freddy Garcia Piece
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 11:29 AM) Saves an arbitration year if we can push him past June 1st as well, right? I'm not sure exactly how that works, especially with the call up this year.

We now control our own destiny
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 11:33 AM) Saw an interesting stat during the Rangers game last night. Apparently we have the 2nd lowest team ERA in the AL. Didn't realize that. Kinda pathetic to think that our record is what it is despite that. The unearned runs have been a big factor in our demise this season. Last I knew we were at the top of the league in errors and unearned runs.

Freddy Garcia Piece
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 11:07 AM) He's a no brainer as a 5th starter. Huddy can get a little more seasoning and be the guy to step in if anyone goes down and than take over from there. And he can always beat Freddy out. For what Garcia could do, you just don't pass up that deal. It is uber cheap. There is nothing wrong with Hudson starting off in Charlotte and maybe making a Beckham type entrance later in the season if he is still throwing well.

Blockbuster FAIL
QUOTE (SnB @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 10:51 AM) there is absolutely no reason to go to a video store anymore. If you don't have netflix, then you go to redbox. Cheaper and way more convenient. This. I use Redbox for most everything.

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 09:33 AM) Well, we dont know what Bush said off the record because it was.. off the record. Obama's stuff got out because they tweeted an off the record comment.. and at that point the horse is our of the stable. Because Bush never got reported for stuff he said off of the air...

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 09:33 AM) How much is his option? If it's reasonable I hope KW brings him back. With the 4 they have at the top a competition between Hudson, Torres, FG and a wild card or two for the fifth would be GREAT for this team. A million dollars, with incentives of up to $2 mil based on IP.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 09:21 AM) Except not, because with a public option and a health insurance mandate, the costs won't be passed on because someone is paying for the procedure, the hospital won't be forced to write off the manpower either. Someone is paying for the costs through the insurance pool, government subsidy or not. Even if everyone on the public option who are currently uninsured got a Medicare or Medicaid option, we're all better off. Because Medicare and Medicaid costs aren't passed along nearly as much as Charity Care costs are. What? Who do you think the Federal government is exactly? Medicare and Medicade costs are 110% passed on to the general public. We pay for the procedures, the staffing, the oversight, the tax collection, and the interest on the debt.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 15, 2009 -> 12:18 PM) my god greg are you complaining about next years schedule being impossible already? lol You gotta make sure you can say "I told you so" before everyone else did... Personally I am punting on 2019 just so I can get a jump on things.

Alex "Mother-Bleeper" Rios
QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Sep 15, 2009 -> 10:49 PM) Was it because he didn't have the money, or was it because he was negotiating a deal to better suit the current economic environment? There's a huge difference. If he didn't have the money, I find it hard to imagine that Zell would have taken him seriously in the first place. The couldn't raise the money. It was all over the news.

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2009 -> 10:34 PM) Tonight's topic for discussion. When George W. Bush was President, more than a few celebrities embarrassed themselves. Britney Spears was even a "Singer" who did so. Why was George W. Bush not asked to comment on them, while Obama was asked (off the record of course) about his opinion on Kanye West? I am guessing it was more like Bush had the sense to say no comment.
