Hey haters
I will say one thing, I love Lexi hitting behind Pods. If Pods gets on base, having Alexei see fastballs while hitting in front of the big men is a damned good idea. With Pods on, you know whoever is in the two hole is going to see fastballs, which is why Fields there didn't make any sense.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 26, 2009 -> 08:24 AM) Scotty Pods is hitting .303. WTF? How long are opposing pitchers going to allow him to do his little mini-Ichiro step swing? He seems like he's reborn. Oh, but fire Walker, there's no way he had anything to do with that. I hope I don't need green for a few things up there. I think it was Bulger who threw at him last night in the 7th FWIW...

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 24, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) Freakanomics and Post-American World are sitting on our end table. I'm debating whether or not to start either. Freakanomics was excellent.- North Korea tests another nuclear bomb
So in other words, they never did fully shut down their program when they said they did because they just managed to put together a nuclear bomb in six weeks or so.- Is Josh Fields a bust?
Those two middle inning AB swings by Josh last night were as hard as he has hit balls all year, especially the double off of the RC field wall. Hopefully the RBI single on Sunday loosened him up a bit.- Bedard questions
From what I understand of Bedard, he wouldn't survive here. He is a guy who begs out of games, and seems to get "injured" easy and often.- Danks
I know there was quite a bit of frustration with the guy last night, but I am going to swim against the flow here... Last night was as impressed with Danks as I have ever been. He literally had nothing last night. He couldn't keep his change from bouncing, his fastball was topping out at about ninety, and he didn't even try his curveball in the early innings. Somehow the kid managed to gut out six innings while only giving up 3 runs, dispite walking SIX guys. On paper it looks awful, in reality, we saw a real maturing last night. Anytime you can get a pitcher that young to suck up and make a quality start out of the stuff he had last night is amazing. Most pitchers wouldn't have stuck around long enough to get a QS out of that mess, but somehow Danks managed to fool just enough hitters to win that game. Especially with as large of a lead as he had, Danks could have just started grooving fastballs to get the hitters swinging, and get through innings, but he didn't. He pitched every single inning like it was a one run game. Danks looked like Mark Buehrle battling last night. He was just a sight to be watched.- WHITE SOX WINNER!
YOu might as well have put pasties, high heels, and a thong on the Angels pitchers last night because they were our b****es last night.- Official 2008-2009 NHL Thread
QUOTE (santo=dorf @ May 24, 2009 -> 08:36 PM) He certainly loses points with his association with McCubnough. LIke it or not, the guy was a part of THE most successful sports franchise in town. During his time in Chicago they went from a crappy team that didn't draw, to some sort of mythological beast that draws even when they don't win. The Sox wish they could be that successful.- Official 2008-2009 NHL Thread
What a horrible effort. Ever since the Hawks went up 3-0 in game 3, they have been outscored 9-2. The champs are showing why there is still some big hurdles for them to jump to get into Stanley Cup territory.- Books Thread

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ May 24, 2009 -> 01:32 AM) Even though Dayan has done nothing for the 2009 White Sox? Can't one also say the money that wasn't used to re-sign Joe Crede went to Dayan? How about freeing up Javy's salary? We bought way high and sold low and invested in something else that hasn't return anything to us yet. As much as you play around with stocks I'm shocked you would declare that a "win" so soon. Is the 2007 draft a failure because no one is up here from that? Is the 2008 draft a failure because no one is up here? We signed a potential superstar third baseman that we control for six major league seasons with the money savings that was Nick Swisher. Why do I specifically Swisher? Because of the timing of it. We ditched a dog that was going to cost us millions of dollars this year, and wasn't going to give us what we wanted. How long do you let your losers ride?- Swisher is currently PITCHING for the Yanks
QUOTE (santo=dorf @ May 23, 2009 -> 09:26 PM) Still would've been nice to have something to show off from the trade. Wilson Beatmymeat should be released. What's the word on Marquez returning from the DL from his case of total suckiness? I'll take the money that turned into Dayan Viciedo and call it a win.- Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread
QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 23, 2009 -> 10:27 PM) How stupid do the Bulls look not trading Gordon,Hinrich and Deng for Bryant a couple of years ago.I so wanted that trade because Kobe is still the best closer in the game,IMO. Not very stupid considering it was Kobe Bryant who didn't want that trade to happen. He didn't want Deng in the deal, because he wanted to have players in Chicago to help him out.- Game Thread: Pit @ CWS, 6:05 start WGN
QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 23, 2009 -> 10:53 PM) I'd say he's got more than a couple......fastball, curve, change, cutter, all of which he can throw for strikes. I would think the Cutter is the only one that is a plus pitch. The one thing that makes Mark special is that he has pinpoint control.- Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (BearSox @ May 23, 2009 -> 09:31 PM) Did I ever take away any credit from Clayton? I'm just saying the Pirates suck. And the Blue Jays?- AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

QUOTE (Cali @ May 23, 2009 -> 06:24 PM) I really despise Clayton's "No Stuff-Stuff", cause it might look good, sometimes even dominant in the early innings than the hitters realize he's just throwing the same 2 pitches and start whacking away.... He just held one of the best hitting teams in baseball to two runs over seven innings and shutout Pittsburgh over six. He seems to be figuring it out versus getting worse. This is a guy who last year would get through the order once before imploding.- Who do you root for tomorrow night?

QUOTE (rangercal @ May 22, 2009 -> 10:07 PM) ok, since I am pretty new with the hawks besides knowing basic stuff, I have a few questions.... What is the deal with Huet? Was he not a big time signing a year ago? In the past, what tier of goalies would you put him in when he was at the top of his game. Is there a chance Khabi will be put back on waivers after this year? If yes, any chance anyone picks him up? and Patrick Sharp. The stats suggest he is not that great, but he seems to be all over the place. What is the verdict on him? Thanks Huet was going to be the Hawks starter. They waived Khabi but no one wanted his contract. Khabi is a free agent after this season is over, and is pretty much out of Chicago because of future salary cap considerations. Sharp has improve tons since he got here. He never worked out in Philly, but he has a ton of talent. Not only is he a skilled offensive player, but he is a great PK guy.- Official 2008-2009 NHL Thread
