  1. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 20, 2009 -> 01:20 PM) Cool. Will it make me eligible for VA benefits? Sure, but there isn't a big paycheck for Veteran Alcoholics.
  2. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 20, 2009 -> 01:23 PM) Anyone think this whole Pelosi thing has been orchestrated by Obama? I think Obama wants her out, and his guy in. It is plausible, but I think this more Pelosi opening her big fat mouth and lies coming out, while having a lot of political enemies who would love to take her down.

QUOTE (False Alarm @ May 20, 2009 -> 12:40 PM) i know, sorry. i was just saying i'd expect ss2k5's to be the standard answer here, since it is everywhere else in the country: so utilitarian. so grown-up. Yeah, right now I am reading up on the Michigan City and LaPorte County zoning laws for my new appointment. Fun.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 20, 2009 -> 12:39 PM) I seriously doubt it, and Floyd's problem isnt confidence as much as its a small mechanical flaw. The best medicine for him is to run him out there. Why would you seriously doubt that the Sox are going to run the players that give them the best chance to win out there? If FLoyd keeps getting lit up, they will get him out of the rotation, I have no doubt about that.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 20, 2009 -> 10:19 AM) Hard time selling? I read that there's a 1 year waiting list. Sales of Hybrid's are down about 2/3's.
  6. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ May 20, 2009 -> 10:41 AM) If you are against abortion...don't have one. Teach your kids that abstinence/contraception is the way to go. You can only control what you can control...and you can't control everyone. I wish the Democrats would adapt that credo in a lot more areas. I'd be way more open to them if that was so.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 20, 2009 -> 09:44 AM) Last few years, I've read more non-fiction than fiction. Anyone else read any substantial amount of non-fiction, particularly history-related books? -- Here's a seperate question. Name an author who you like that you'd call a guilty pleasure. Something you know is not great literature, but you just enjoy it anyway. I'll throw one out there: Tony Hillerman I barely read fiction anymore, it is almost all non-fiction of some kind. With my limited free time, I feel better learning something.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 20, 2009 -> 11:22 AM) Ozzie on Lillibridge, this is funny: “He's got to work on a lot of things,” Ozzie said. “If this kid keeps swinging the bat like that, he's going to be in Triple-A for a long time. We need him; we want him. That's the reason we made this trade (with the Braves) _ we liked him for the past two years. But when you continue to try and play a big man's game when you're only 5-11, 120 pounds, that's not a game you should be playing. “We talked to him clearly three times, the message was there. You've got to use your legs, play baseball, and when you have warning-rack power, you're going to go from the minor leagues to the Mexican League to the Korean League. “In the big leagues, he's got a tough road to come back here. He's not doing what he's supposed to do. I'm just being honest. He's got the message three times and he's got to change his ballgame.” This is why I love Ozzie. Its a great message, and 100% true. Too bad we don't have any real leadoff type grinders to introduce Lilli too. I wonder if Lance Johnson needs a job? Anyway, with Lilli gone, that is one less strawman for Sox fans to blame for things.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 20, 2009 -> 10:56 AM) There is no way in hell they would put Gavin in the pen or on waivers, thats just a retarded argument. He is one of their young guns that they have invested a hell of alot more than they have in other players, he'll pitch every 5th day or go on the DL. Since he isnt hurt, but only is out of rythmn, he should be out there every turn until he figures it out. If Floyd is still pitching scared, and Contreras has his forkball back, while Richard is giving the squad, respectable work, you can bet your ass Floyd would go to the pen. The Sox aren't afraid of changes.
  10. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 20, 2009 -> 01:06 AM) Which would make Heads roughly our Jose Paniagua. . . Judging by his look, I am going to go with Lillibridge, but point accepted
  11. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 18, 2009 -> 01:23 AM) And on my last poo stop of the night... "Dancing Poo" - aka Michael Steele. (Bring it... Dancing Queen, you know it...) It was really interesting that Obama seemed to be making a veiled "not black enough" type of dig at Steele during the comedy routine.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 19, 2009 -> 11:00 PM) Gonzalez is speculating that Contreras could eventually take Floyd's place in the rotation. According to BA he was throwing first pitch forkballs for strikes last night. Floyd is out of options so I presume he would move to the bullpen if this longshot (IMO) comes true. Here's the question. If Floyd has another 3 or 4 starts like his last 3 or 4 do you risk losing him and his new contract by exposing him to waivers? Considering in his last 21 starts his ERA is about 6.00 it would have to be a consideration. They won't expose him to waivers until after the trade deadline. He will either go to the pen, or he will go to the DL.
  13. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 19, 2009 -> 11:03 PM) He's up to .252/.379/.515/.894. He's still probably done, however. The crazy thing is that he has done that in about a weeks time. He is a beast when he is hot.
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 19, 2009 -> 02:35 PM) The admin. estimates $1300/ car price increase to meet this new standards. Judging by how their budget estimates have gone so far, all I have to say is ha-ha.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 19, 2009 -> 10:10 PM) I learned over the weekend that if Ozzie submitted that exact lineup, we'd lose the DH and our pitcher would be hitting. Nice work.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 19, 2009 -> 11:39 AM) Awesome, he stayed away from Duke And Kansas...
  17. QUOTE (rangercal @ May 19, 2009 -> 10:00 PM) I don't buy it. Anaheim was so close to knocking off mighty Detroit. Anaheim is not a #8 seed either. A lot of this is match ups, and we do not match up with Detroit. We can't out physical them, and we can't out speed them.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 18, 2009 -> 09:36 PM) No, they wouldn't get the #1 pick next year if he doesn't sign. They would get another first rounder, but not the #1 pick. They would lose a pick and go down to at least the #2 spot. Not a big drop, but still a drop none the less. Drafting him and not signing him would be a bad move for the franchise though and they really do have to take him. Even if it took 20 million it would behoove the Nationals to do it cause a year from now they could probably deal him with ease and get a ton of cash savings or whatever if they are in a horrid financial position. I thought the new catch in the draft was if you couldn't sign a guy, you got the same pick in the next draft?
  19. Ah, yeah. That's how a win feels... I had almost forgotten.
  20. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ May 19, 2009 -> 09:53 PM) It was just a stat padding double. If the Sox were down by 2 he probably would've stuck out. Like he did yesterday? I must be missing something.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 19, 2009 -> 02:05 PM) Good. The paranoid Sox fan in me just had this fear they'd find a reason to keep Lillibridge around. Its been obvious for a while that Lilli was going to be the odd man out with Ozzie slamming him in the press.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 19, 2009 -> 12:01 PM) http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/05/breaki...-1.html?cnn=yes My Name is Earl got the axe, but someone might save it. Doesn't suprise me, I was a big fan of the first season and to me, that show took a stunning nose dive in quality, it quickly became unwatchable. Much of it had to do with Jamie Pressley's (sp?) character. I hated when she became more of a focus and thought it ruined the show. I liked the show early on, but after a while, what is left with the original premise? I mean how many wrongs can one person right? It got dull.
  23. Make sure you get plenty of fluids.
  24. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 19, 2009 -> 09:12 PM) Hey they were booing Fields, I thought Sox fans only booed black players. Nah they are booing Kenny, because he is black.
  25. Like I said all season, we just aren't in Detroit's league yet. Nothing wrong with what we have done this season, we just aren't Stanley Cup good yet. This series will be good for them as they are learning even more that sometimes you need even more than 60 complete minutes.
