  1. To be fair to Pal, it's not like he said he had it from the inside that it wouldn't be him, or that it was 100% not him.
  2. FWIW, this is also the first time at least in recent history he has tried to play insider.
  3. Not sure what happened to the formatting, but
  4. We at Soxtalk are now going to violate your freedom of speech and end the Elon talk. Unless there is an actual rumor, there is no point to the discussion. For the record, this is sarcasm, and there is no need to reply and further this conversation.
  5. Still. As a Boras guy, and one with a pretty big ego from all accounts, he was swinging for the fences. I think if he was looking for safety, he would have taken one of those rookie deal long term contracts.
  6. That isn't the worst theory I have heard for sure. They had a positive thing in Project Birmingham and a negative one in Project Dumpster Fire in Chicago.
  7. I would literally fight someone for a ticket to this.
  8. And as always with these deals, the tax will come into play, so this really could be between $40 and $50 million a year in cost. Also, I don't think Rodon was signing a middling deal.
  9. Hoping he can stay healthy and make a big leap. Between him and Vera, I think those are our best hope at future aces.
  10. The one thing that you can get fired for in this organization is disloyalty. Unless you think Rick is trying to get fired, I don't see him making that leak. Why? He doesn't need to. As you said, he has infinite job security if he shuts up, so why care that much so as to risk your job?
  11. Maybe Kaplan meant Rick was learning sign language and can now sign Leftfield.
  12. It is entirely plausible that the organization preplanned an exit strategy together.
  13. If they didn't, I am fine with whoever did.
  14. I was thinking of the fight over Washington DC with Baltimore doing everything they could to block it.
  15. Conforto and the White Sox on an incentive laden opt out deal is a marriage made in heaven. Of course the Sox are too cheap to buy a ring and propose...
  16. Guessing is supposed to be kind of a zipped lip kind of a hint, but your guess is as good as any.
  17. If anything NYC needs one or two more teams. When you look at their population draw and their average income in the area, there is a reason they are able to spend more than anywhere else in baseball. It will never happen, but that would be the best thing to happen to baseball in terms of balance and equity.
  18. Which is why the all-time conservative and risk averse Yankees don't lead the world in World Series titles.
  19. Better teams don't sign better players and move lesser players? That is news to me.
