2009 Free Agent Class
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 11:27 AM) Here's a random question about a maybe-free agent. Is Ehren Wassermann a free agent after this season? He's got his minor league time in, plus some major league time, but I'm not sure which set of rules apply here. I believe as long as they are on the 40 man roster, the major league rules apply.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 10:47 AM) But I thought Obama was over there bowing to his European overlords? Sorry, I had to. He probably did like he did with Canada... "Nah, I am just saying those things to get elected. They won't really happen." [not real quote]

Did Kenny's one of kids go ASU? That could explain why we were on to this kid.

Sox should trade Josh Fields
QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 09:31 AM) But hasnt Jose said he DOES NOT WANT TO BE IN THE PEN?And we all know how sensitive he is when he doesnt have everything going his way. If that is the case they can bury him in the pen and use him for mop up duty.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 09:20 AM) Note the time period - 11 days. This is a good example of what SS2K5, myself and others have been trying to point out. Markets can spazz out in the short run, and a trader or traders could (and on occasion do) sort of game the system for short term profits. But the markets adjust for that naturally. Good that the CFTC is getting people like this, though. And I have no problem with every single one of those guys going to jail for a long time. But there is a distinct difference in what is being talked about here. I would bet everything I have that there are individual traders making illegal trades to try to game the market. At the sametime there is a difference in the fact that speculation in general is responsible for the months of run up we have here. No one speculator is big enough to control the markets, except maybe the US government, or something of that size.

Most of the military was into drugs because the government supplied its troops with them, or encouraged them to be supplied. It was used as mood control.

Sox should trade Josh Fields
QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 08:56 AM) How do we handle contreras then? Just put his ass in the bullpen? We are stuck with the slug through next year, I believe. We have our long reliever and the guy to replace Danks if he breaks down because of innings. Not to mention there was talk of making him a closer originally when we traded for him... He would be a tough reliever with that forkball.

Sox should trade Josh Fields
QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 08:06 AM) The way Joe Cowley was talking this morning on Mully and Hanley Josh Fields is as good as gone.He said they want a SP and Duscherer is third on their wish list.If he is third on the wish list who the hell would be 1 and 2?It would have to be a big name. Kenny always aims high, that is no surprise at all to me.

Minimum wage rises today
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 04:40 PM) I heard a little bit ago that this family of seven fellow has government benefits up the ying yang and makes out better by being on minimum wage and doesn't want to take anything better. THAT right there is what's wrong with our country. The wife's sister who doesn't work at all and has a newborn now has better benefits than the two of us do working full time.

CQ4MVP
QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 02:09 PM) That's a cruel and thoughtless manner to describe someone's drug problem. He wasn't sitting around sipping on syringes for the taste. By all means, there's a lot of ways to look at him, and there's a lot of people who resent Hamilton or dislike him or some other generally-negative feeling, but "he loved drugs" is one of the worst sentences written on SoxTalk. Its also cruel and thoughtless of Hamilton to have engaged in something so dangerous that he could endanger his own life and put his family and friend through that torturous ringer. It is a complete act of selfishness. I don't see him as being something great for having beaten something that he should have never gotten involved in in the first place.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) I know its the National Enquirer but did anyone read about their confrontation with Edwards at the Hilton in Los Angeles. Waiting for coverage from the press. I read the version on Slate. Interesting to say the least, especially with his wife being one of his biggest campaign props. If its true is really takes all of that crap about life changing experiences and flushes them down the toilet once and for all, because there would be no bigger kick in the face of his wife than to cheat on her. I really hope that it isn't true.

Soxtalk Softball Part II
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 01:35 PM) Somehow I'm guessing the first word's out of Pratt's mouth would be: That other team is a bunch of "pussies". You forgot "f***" to modify and describe everything.
