  1. QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 21, 2007 -> 01:33 PM) You're just impossible to please. Ever. I actually think sometimes you are Jay Mariotti. Hmm, I wonder what he thinks of Hawk?

  3. QUOTE(spiderman @ Dec 21, 2007 -> 12:51 PM) "You are assuming we had $75 million," said Williams, when asked about the Hunter offer. "We were hoping to get that along the way, and ultimately, [the move] would pay for itself to a large degree. [Chairman] Jerry [Reinsdorf] authorized it, and I appreciate him having the faith in me to go out on a limb, because it took us well above break even. "This is like your personal finances. There has to be a certain amount of fiscal responsibility, otherwise you will put yourself in a situation where you have to do without something that's very vital to the functioning of the house. "Going a couple of years back, if I made some decisions on some of the players people were urging -- it goes back three, four, five years ago -- if I made those decisions in the fashion the public wanted me to do," Williams added, "we would not have been in position years later to extend [an offer to] Konerko or Garland, the first time, or Mark Buehrle. "People say to look at today and only today, but I have to look at where we were and where we are going. You can't take one action and have it prevent you from doing something that might be important to the overall picture. I have not found a way to articulate that point in a way that people understand or accept ****** I'm getting dizzy from the spinning! He's right. Its not that simple, no matter how simple want to make it seem.

  6. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Dec 18, 2007 -> 05:08 PM) http://mlb-rumors.blogspot.com/ so TIFWIW. its not worth the paper it was written on... which since it was posted in cyberspace...
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 03:30 PM) I'm really curious to know the answer to this question...if Obama makes it to the general, will he be able to do the same sort of "all negative ads and statements against me are dirty, underhanded tricks by my opponents" that seems to keep working to turn every attack on him into a ding in Hillary's armor. He could call it "A Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" Yeah, I went there. The Clintons got away with this for eight years, so it is possible, if not probable, especially with Hillary's negatives. Because of the administration they had, people tend to believe this about them, versus Obama crying Wolf.
  8. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 02:33 PM) I hope the Cubs win the World Series just to spite you. It would just give him more to follow on his closest watched team.
  9. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) Update: Tancredo officially drops out, and endorses Romney. Not sure if that helps or hurts Mitt. Tancredo was getting 2-3% in Iowa, which is something I guess. But he is awfully divisive. Hmm, you always have to ask the question, is there a reason for this endorsement? Thinking out loud, he is uber-Christian and anti-immigrant, which are both problem spots for Romney.

  13. I had to post this story, if for no other reason, than to highlight the web-address to the LA Times story. Look closely. If you want to discredit the whole liberal media idea, this is not the way to go about it. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington...e-planting.html
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 12:27 PM) Tom Tancredo to drop out of the Presidential race today, presumably to spend more time with his family rounding up illegal immigrants. For being the guy who gets uppidty when people miss your posts, you might want to read up a little higher
  15. I didn't know if he would have a shot at a Christmas leave or something like that...
  16. To another of the old ESPN posse Hope its a good one Tom
  17. QUOTE(Hatchetman @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 08:49 AM) How does this make sense for the Sox? Payton is terrible. Uribe's just as good a hitter and can actually field a difficult position. The Sox have two SS's and no CF's.
  18. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 06:02 AM) Not a good day for candidates yesterday... Rudy Giuliani is hospitalized when he falls ill in Missouri, and Dennis Kucinich's brother died. for the Kucinich family
  19. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 01:02 AM) Good to hear that everything's been quiet for you lately. ^^^ Any idea when you will home again?
  20. I saw a snippet yesterday of Henry Kissenger endorsing John McCain, was that right?
  21. The deal does actually make sense for both teams, as little of a fan of Jay Payton as I am...
  22. No big surprise to me that we are kicking the tires on Mark Prior. I'll bet we are also wispering to Garcia and Colon as well. It also means that the whole Kenny line that everyone went crazy about was crap as well, like a few of us were trying to tell everyone. Kenny doesn't think Danks and Floyd are top flight pitchers, but he has to say that they are. His actions are what we should watch, not his words. The entire planet knows he is full of s***.
  23. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Dec 19, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) Just for the record, can we confirm that Lance Briggs is not the father. Somebody call Maury!
  24. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Dec 19, 2007 -> 02:29 PM) At the same time, he's been completely paralyzed with his agenda and his attempts at trying to play the peacemaker hasn't quite worked out so well. North Korea's about face has more to do with Bill Richardson than George Bush, Iran's about face might have more to do with Russia than anything else too. So you have the whole world working around GW... Seriously, if most influencial is your guide, he wins. Like I said, Al Gore probably should have been it.
  25. Yeah, we are trading Buehrle....
