The Twist you all have been waiting for...
QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) I'm aware of what the law says. But if, God forbid, a few thousand people die in another terrorist attack, that might change. Given that privacy in e-mail and cell phone communications aren't specifically protected in the Constitution, a strong case could be made for a change. Hopefully it'll never come to that. "Specifically mentioned"??? Are you kidding me? Do you realize how much things have changed in 200 years technology wise? Things like Air Force aren't specifically mentioned either, only armies, should we get rid of the Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Marines too... because well they aren't specifically mentioned in the constitution?

Is 2006 the year the Sox pass the 100 mark?
QUOTE(PaHs @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) Do you think we will re-sign pods after next year? Or do you think owens' speed will be sastisfactory? If we lost Pods, I'd be furious. I really get the feeling that pods will be gone as soon as he hits FA. The Sox have too many guys they like in the OF in the minors.

QUOTE(Balance @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) I keep wishing that our choice in 2000 would have been Bradley and McCain instead of Gore and Bush. I voted for McCain in the primaries over Bush.

December Jobs numbers disappoint
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) For anyone following the stock market the Nasdaq and S & P are both at multiyear highs and the Dow is closing in on 11,000. Its been a great first week of the year for the markets. I can even begin to tell you how big it would be for the stock market to close at or above 11,000. I went back through the charts for the last year, and there is so much resistance between 10950 and 11000 it isn't even funny. If the market can't break through that point, I could see it falling back to test 10000, because of all of the tests of these old highs that will have failed. If we can manage get through 11000, I am going to go out on a limb and predict a new high in the Dow Jones this summer. If we don't break 11000, we are going to be looking at Dow Jones 10k again.

Gammons praises Sox - Not Red Sox
I liked the Vazquez trade a lot when it happened... Now, I LOVE it. Keeping Vazquez away from the Indians is almost bigger than us getting him. Realize that means we kept the Indians from getting Thome AND Vazquez this off season, AND we managed to add them to OUR team. More Kdub love here...

For Dems only.
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 12:38 PM) Is anyone else really annoyed how any statement that any government agency wasn't doing a wonderfully perfect job is immediately translated into Oh those people just hate Bush? The Government seriously can do no wrong for these people with Bush in office. I just hope it stays patriotic to criticize a President when a Democrat gets elected and doesn't turn back into a "vast right wing conspiracy" like it was when anyone said anything about his holy Clinton.

Joke Thread
Secret of happiness for men: It's important to have a woman who helps at home, who cooks from time to time, cleans up and has a job. It's important to have a woman who can make you laugh. It's important to have a woman whom you can trust and who doesn't lie to you. It's important to have a woman who is good in bed and who likes to be with you. It's very, very important that these four women don't know each other.

The President will be across the street today...
QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 12:19 PM) The motorcade just drove by. I went down and saw it, it was pretty wild. Probably about 8 motorcycles, 6 police cars, and half a dozen SUVs that sandwiched in the limo. They had everything closed down bigger than life, you couldn't even cross the street to or from the CBOT, or walk anywhere East down Van Buren. I did get to see the limo from about 20ish feet away or so, but they drove directly into one of the garages to let him out of protected from everyone else.

The Twist you all have been waiting for...
QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) Oh, so our government is suddenly going to turn into Nazi Germany if phone and e-mail conversations are monitored. That's extremist rhetoric if I've ever heard it. I'm not necessarily advocating the monitoring of electronic communications without a warrant, but I don't think it's fair to say that there's an "expectation of privacy" anywhere outside of one's own property. Ever hear of "echelon"?

No tickets for Opening day???
QUOTE(farmteam @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 01:11 AM) I wonder if the Cubs series is still available...that will be quick to go, as always. They weren't even available last year for single game tickets, I imagine they will be difficult to get even with packages this year.

Battle of Champions
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 07:31 PM) holy schnikies! 10-1?!?!?! Is Bobby Valentine creating this scenario himself? What a load of crap. The Sox gave up 9 runs in 3 games to BOSTON and 10 runs in 5 games to ANAHEIM, and we are supposed to believe a team with Bennie Agabayani is going to score 10 runs in one game against one of the two best pitchers in the AL in the second half? Please.
