#3 hitter
QUOTE(VAfan @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 09:03 AM) Let's face it, AJ and Rowand aren't the answer in the #3 hole. And Everett, despite two singles last night, is probably better suited hitting 5th. My suggestion is to move Iguchi to 3rd. The lineup could be: Podsednik Rowand Iguchi Konerko Everett Dye Pierzynski Crede Uribe And if Ozzie wanted to blow out the cylinders (see the original Flight of the Phoenix) for a game, he could go with this lefty dominated lineup. Podsednik LF Harris 2B Gload 1B Everett DH Borchard RF Pierzynski C Perez CF Uribe SS Blum 3B You did see Aarons two double plays, and what would have been a 3rd if their were less than two outs yesterday right? And you did see the pop up he hit when he tried to bunt the day before right? Rowand is definately a bottom of the order hitter. He doesn't have the fundementals to be a #2 hitter.

11 Priests Removed
QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) Please don't think I am excusing this behavior, I was just offering for thought the perspective of the victims that want the Church to keep it quiet while removing the offending Priest. We should also balance the 50 year history with societies handling of sex crimes. Rape victims were routinely discredited, their clothes, their mannerisms, suggestions that they "wanted it". Churches weren't the only institutions that swept these things under the rug. I believe we have to address the full range of the problem, not just think we can dump it all on one doorstep. It isn't up to the church to make judgements about whether their victim is better off with or without being reported. Their job is to report the crime. Any organization that deals with children extensively is under strict guidelines to report anything suspicious to the proper authorities if they think something is happening to a kid, and the church isn't any different. To me I think the Catholic church is getting a bye because they are a religious organization. Imagine the outcry if there were Boy Scouts troop leaders molesting kids, and instead of taking action, they just transfered them to a different pack, in a different state? Or if teachers were just sent to another school system after having sex with one of their kids? Governments wouldn't stand for it. But the church has had no repercussions from the governence, as a matter of a fact, the only thing that has forced REAL change was getting the crap sued out of them in jury after jury case.

Congress approves $50 billion more for wars
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) I'n not so sure what's so sneaky about it, it's been reported all day on the news, starting this morning. That's what I was trying to figure out as well. They are interviewing Senators about it, its obviously out there, and IMO it is a lot more up front to actually put the budget for the war in with the defense appropriations bill than to act like it didn't exsist in the budget and get a special appropriation for it later. If they know it is coming, why wouldn't you just budget for it in the first place?

Sox farm system
The Sox two biggest upper end prospects are here now, in McCarthy and Anderson. After that I think you severely underestimate some really good talent both at AA, and in the lower levels of the Sox system, Rudy.

Fortune magazine ranks the most socially responsible companies out of the Global 100, the worlds biggest 100 companies. Interesting to note that #1 and #2 are energy companies. Also worth noting the first US company on the list is Ford at #6. Tied for #98 is Berkshire Hathaway. http://www.fortune.com/fortune/global500/a...ability?cnn=yes

Notes: Everett may be headed to the bench...
QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) Ozzie said that AJ will continue to bat 3rd against lefties and Rowand will bat 3rd against lefties from now on. So, look for Aaron back in there today. As for Everett's replacement, how about DHing Pods and inserting Ozuna? At least that guy can bunt. Rowand's "bunt" last night with Willie on, was pathetic. Which is exactly the reason that Aaron shouldn't be batting #2 or #3 in this line up. He can't bunt to save his life, and his power numbers are way down. He needs to be #6ish in the line up.

Hurricane Katrina
One of the scarier things to come out of this is the huge amount of police officers who left their posts during Katrina, and the wondering if this were a terror attack in another city, and the same chaos ensued, would their be this large of a desertion rate? In New Orleans 249 of an estimated 1700 police officers were AWOL during Katrina. http://www.breitbart.com/news/2005/09/27/D8CSMBN81.html

Mariotti chokes us again
QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) If you've never called a buddy a dumbs*** before, well, I'm sorry to tex, but you need to grow up. I'm just sick of people saying, o no stop crying over mariotti bla bla bla. Nobody cries, people are talking on a message board used to talk. get over it. If you don't want to read the post, don't. Actually you might want to read the posting rules on Soxtalk. Namecalling and personal attacks are forbidden and subject to an automatic 5 day penalty. If you want to post here, you aren't going to post stuff like that... I think you might be the one who needs to get over it.

11 Priests Removed
QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) You can't just blame the Church for the secrecy. If the victims come forward, the Church can't hide it. Problem is, these are situations where both the accused and the accuser do not want publicity. I have a hard time finding fault with someone who does not want the public attention of coming forward and reporting having been abused. The point is they have a 50 year pattern of removing felons from trouble situations, and moving them to situations where they can continue to commit felonies, all without reporting these crimes to the proper authorities. They are legally obligated to report these crimes, and they do not.

11 Priests Removed
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:59 AM) As a Catholic any priest that molests a child should be ex-communicated from the church. Kick them out, hand over all the evidence to the authorities and put them in general population in the jail. Becoming a priest is a sacrament, its a promise to God to teach the word of the lord. There is only one way to deal with this type of evil, root it out, and eradicate it. No more of this pussy footing around it. You want an even quicker way to end the Catholic church's protection of child molesters? Have the IRS revoke their tax free status if they aid and abet any more felonies as an organization. I guarentee you will see some reform at that point.
