    It figures, finally the airlines figure out a way to make money without the governments help. The whole industry is going under, and no one is going to do anything to save it. A whole bunch of greedy stupid bastards.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) Insiders sold a whopping $100 million in that company's shares in the month before the stock price took the hit. Bold is the key phrase in that statement. The timing makes it a lot less suspicious. If he had led the insiders in selling that is one thing, but if he was at the tail end of all of that, not only to numbers get released showing insider buying/selling, but also rumors get out about heaving selling/buying done by insiders. You kind find those numbers as public filings at the SEC, and are often posted in segments on CNBC. Trust me, you can't keep a secret on Wall Street, and if it took him 2-3 months to act while insiders were selling, all that means is that Frist is a piss poor trader, and not an insider trader.
  3. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) My daughter just started ballet and tap lessons, she's in a soccer league and she is going to be in Girl Scouts soon. She is absolutely awesome, despite inheriting WAY too many of my personality traits. So how are your tap and ballet lessons going?

  6. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) Bet on the Sox tonight...+200!!! +200 is it? Wow, I am shocked to be honest.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:20 PM) Konerko should just shut his damn mouth. And Reinsdorf was too cheap to get Griffey. Damn I completely forgot about JR being Cheap!
  8. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) This is all KW's fault. And Ozzies... Plus don't forget Paul Konerko sucks.
  9. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) Is there a song titled, "One Step Forward, Two Steps Back"? Not that I know of, but it is in a Paula Abdul song...

    Rita has been downgraded to a Category 4 storm.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) Who else do we have that we can put in there? Hence the reason Pods is in there while 75 or 80% tops. It is completely obvious that he can't run, but he is still getting on base, which makes him better than any other options we have.
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) I don't quite understand what the sarcasm has to do with his disparaging comments.. Or maybe I've just missed the normal bulls*** around here lately where some posters do nothing but b**** and moan about how they KNOW what Ozzie should be doing.. B.

    QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) NOAA is running a similar story. Let's just hope this doesn't discourage people from evacuating. Yeah no kidding. If New Orleans wasn't proof enough to fear mother nature, Darwinism just takes over at that point...

  15. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) So I take it that you dont think that Managment is cheap... Its an easy question, just want your opinion here. I take it your challenge means that you chickened out of my challenge to prove the Sox are cheap. Not a big surprise to be honest. Its easy to say, not nearly as easy to actually prove. But that's OK, I'll play along and let you change the subject. To be honest I believe the payroll is fair for the level of attendance we have. Historically the Sox payroll always goes up by the amount of profits that the team makes in the previous season, and you can't ask for much more. If you don't believe me, go back and check the annual Forbes reports on MLB and take the Sox annual profits. Then go to a list of their annual payrolls and correlate the change to the teams annual PnL. You'll find minus a small profit, they are almost identical. That doesn't bother me at all. A team is a business, and all taking a loss insures is that future teams and organizations will have to pay off those debts somewhere along the way. The only thing the owners of this team are making any money on, is when the value of the team increases, and they can't realize any of those profits until they sell their shares. Sure I'd love a $150 million payroll, but until we draw 35k a night, every night, but it isn't going to happen. If you want to talk about cheap, you need to look at organizations like Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh who are making money hand over fist because they have a minimal payroll, while at the sametime pocketing the revenue sharing money from the other teams. Heck look at a team like the Cubs whose payroll is only $25 million a year more than they Sox, while drawing 10,000 a night more, having a way bigger TV contract, selling way more advertising, having way higher ticket prices (not to mention their little scalping business), and having a much bigger national following.

    QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) i haven't read or seen much about this one, but mya ccy proffesor mentioned that she heard gas prices might be around $5/gal, by the end of the weekend, true? It wouldn't surprise me at all. If this ends up making landfall around the TX/LA border, you would be putting a direct hit on the biggest US pumping capacity that wasn't already devestated by Katrina. If you put a direct his on Galveston that would be battering the single biggest unleaded gasoline refineries in the US.
  17. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) Well because this trade happend to free up money to get the other players. If he wasnt cheap they wouldnt have had to trade Lee to free up more money. That is why Mention nothing of the $12 million that our payroll went up this year...
  18. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) Are you trying to back up Jerry? Are you trying to say he isnt cheap? I am backing up the truth here, I don't care who it is. Just because people keep repeating something doesn't make it true.
  19. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) I guess it just goes to show how cheap the managemnt is on the South Side I'd love to see you back up that statement with any facts or figures, that couldn't be instantly blown out of the water.

  21. Mad Money is easily the worst show on CNBC. The only person in the neighborhood is Suze Orman.
  22. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) Both sides got what they needed. Pods got hurt, Lee didn't. Where's the "neither" or "both" option? And where is the option for "Not this crap again"?
  23. We obviously don't need Ozzie since the job is so easy that any message board poster can do it...
